WILLIAM D. RYDER, 80, of Holmdel died May 3 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Carteret, he was a lifelong resident of Holmdel. He was employed by St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel, from 1981-99. Prior to that, he was employed by Stillwell Construction Company, Holmdel, and the former Special Police of Holmdel Township. He was also a self-employed boat builder in Keyport from 1945-63. He was a communicant of St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II during the Pacific Campaign. He was a life member of The Holmdel Fire Company No. 1, as well as a member of the Holmdel Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion, Keyport. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Lambertson Ryder in 1985. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Wayne Applegate of Holmdel; his brother, Harry L. Ryder of Coraopolis, Pa.; and three grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. Interment

MARLENE F. BREEN JARRETT, 65, of Middletown died April 28 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived in Hazlet for 18 years before moving to Middletown 10 months ago. She was a salesperson for Kmart, Hazlet, for 10 years, retiring in 1998. She was predeceased by a daughter, Doreen Marino, in 1999. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Walter Lynch of Middletown; her son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Mary Jarrett of the Belford section of Middletown; two sisters, Margaret McCourt of Staten Island, N.Y., and Maureen Heron of Long Island, N.Y.; her brother, Thomas Breen of Staten Island; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and her companion, Peter Cain. A funeral gathering will be held May 1 at 8:45 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral liturgy will follow at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Entombment will be at Green Grove Cemetery, Keyport.
VICTORIA SEIDE MAZZUCCA, 27, of Long Branch died April 27 at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York. Born in New York City, she lived in Rumson prior to moving to Long Branch two years ago. She was employed in the human resources department at Martha Stewart, New York. She was a communicant of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson. She received her bachelor of arts degree in education from Catholic University, Washington, D.C. She enjoyed traveling in Europe, the United States, and the Caribbean. She is survived by her husband, Michael R. Mazzucca of Long Branch; her parents, Harold and Susan McFeely Seide of Rumson; two sisters, Christina and Diane Seide, both of Rumson; her brother, David Seide of Rumson; her father-in-law, Anthony Mazzucca of Middletown; and her mother-in-law, Mary Mazzucca of Fair Haven. Visitation will be May 1 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered May 2 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson. BLANCHE F. WERMANN, 70, of Hazlet died April 27 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jersey City, she resided in Union City prior to moving to Hazlet 42 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. She was a member of the Keyport Seniors club. She is survived by her husband, Louis Wermann of Hazlet; her son, Louis Wermann Jr. of Brick; four daughters, Margaretann DiGiambattisti of Union Beach, Karen Pinckney of Keyport, Janine Wermann-Salinas of Hazlet, and Kathleen Walling of Keyport; four sisters, Helen Provitera of Bloomfield, Ida Meyer and Dorothy Englese, both of North Bergen, and Ella Kolodziej of Jackson; her brother, Robert Chinery of Jersey City; and six grandchildren. A funeral liturgy will be offered May 1 at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Interment

HENRIETTA MEARNS, 86, of Holmdel died April 24 at Bayshore Health Center, Holmdel. Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, she resided in Hazlet prior to moving to Holmdel. She was a clerk for Chase Manhattan Bank, New York City, for 30 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, New York City. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Albert Mearns in 1996, and her son, George Craigmyle in 1997. She is survived by her daughter-in-law and two grandchildren, Kathy, Carrie, and Robert Craigmyle, all of Hazlet; and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Craig of Brooklyn, N.Y.
RICHARD R. TALLEY, 54, of the Leonardo section of Middletown died April 28 at University Hospital, Staten Island, N.Y. Born in Antwerp, Belgium, he came to the United States in 1949 and lived in Red Bank prior to moving to Middletown Township in 1952. He was a sorter for the U.S. Postal Service, Eatontown, for five years. He served with the U.S. Navy for 16 years, as well as the U.S. Air Force for four years, and served during the Gulf War. He was a member of the Commanders Club and the Disabled Veterans Association. He was also a member of the Sierra Club and the International Association of Mountain Biking, and was an avid fisherman. He was predeceased by his father, Burl E. Talley, in 2001. He is survived by his mother, Simonne Jeanne Talley of Middletown; his aunt, Neva Clingan of Okmulgee, Okla.; and several cousins.
VIRGINIA HAILEY, 93, of Middletown died April 12 at home. Born in Jersey City, she resided in Hawthorne most of her life before moving to Middletown. She was a secretary for Marshall Field & Co., New York City, retiring in 1946. She was a communicant of and Rosarian at St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. She was a member of The Wright Aeronautical Social Club. She was predeceased by her husband, John Paul Hailey in 1989; a son, Paul Thomas Hailey; a brother, Leo McCormick; and her sister, Sister Jean. She is survived by her son, the Rev. John Barrett-Hailey; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel.
FELICIA "BABE" ROMANELLI, 80, of the Belford section of Middletown died April 15 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jersey City, she lived there until moving to Belford 30 years ago. She was a homemaker. Early in her life, at age 4, she was a dancer, "Charleston Babe" in the Jersey City vaudeville circuit. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown, where she was a member of its Over 50 Club. She was also a member of Court Fulgens Corona Catholic Daughters of America at St. Mary’s. She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas Romanelli in 1982; her sister, Gloria Iorio; and a brother, Louis Cirigliano. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Justine Romanelli of Belford, Phyllis and Robert Stainagle of Belford, and Virginia and Rick Russell of Middletown; her son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas and Mary Romanelli of Middletown; her brother, Paul "Chic" Cirigliano of Brick Township; and seven grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
HENRIETTA E.C. KLAMI (née Carey), 94, of Cream Ridge, Upper Freehold, died April 19 at Moorestown Estates, Moorestown. She was born in Ozone Park N.Y., and had lived in Middletown, Westfield, Baltimore and Fanwood before moving to Cream Ridge three years ago. She was a member of the Audubon Society of Sandy Hook and the Middletown Garden Club. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter, who died in 1984; and a brother, Terry Carey, in 1995. She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Juettner of Cream Ridge; a son, Rodney A. of Middletown; a brother, Paul Carey of Whiting; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Interment
was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
ALBERT CRESCI, 89, of Holmdel died April 19 at home. Born in New York City, he resided in Hazlet the past 23 years. He was the owner/operator of Cresci Brothers Farm, Hazlet. He was predeceased by a brother, Angelo J. Cresci. He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie Cresci of Holmdel; his son, Albert B. Cresci of Holmdel; his daughter, Rosemarie Sellick of Bradley Beach; his brother, Joseph Cresci of Hazlet; and three grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Interment
was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
