DOMINICK BRISCESE, 93, of Matawan died March 20 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a lifelong Matawan resident. He was a building operator for DuPont Inc., Parlin, for 49 years, retiring in 1974. He was a prize fighter in the lightweight class during his youth, known as "Rocky" in the state of New Jersey. He was a member of the 25-Year Club at DuPont. He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa Briscese, in 2001; and two brothers, Mauro Briscese in 1961, and Michael Briscese in 1997. He is survived by two sons, Rocco Briscese of Wolcott, N.Y., and Anthony Briscese of the West Keansburg section of Hazlet; two sisters, Mary "Pat" Geiger of Keyport, and Mary Ann Fetta of Sun City, Fla.; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church, Matawan. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick 08902-4301; or the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury, 07702.

IRENE L. SANTORELLI, 69, of Middletown died March 21 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Newark, she lived in Vailsburg and Newark prior to moving to Middletown 14 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, her son, and her daughter, Anthony Santorelli, Anthony Santorelli Jr. and Julia Conocchioli, all of Middletown; three sisters, Rosalie Bell of Florida, Frances Smolinski of Howell, and Victoria Caputo of Middletown; her brother, Philip Caputo of Essex Fells; and four grandchildren. A funeral liturgy as offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. Entombment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

ARTHUR P. CHRISTIE, 79, of Matawan died March 20 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided in Gerritsen Beach, N.Y., prior to moving to the Matawan and Old Bridge area seven years ago. He was the owner of Christie Overhead Door Corp., Brooklyn, for 48 years, retiring in 1994. He served with the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He was a member of the Good Sam Club, Porsche Club of America, and Motor Coach Club of America. He was predeceased by his wife, Catherine Christie in 1995. He is survived by his longtime companion, Mary A. Oty of Matawan; his son, Robert Christie of Centerville, Ohio; two daughters, Patricia Valentino and June Gustavson, both of Laurel, Md.; his brother and sister-in-law, John and Irene Christie of Garden City, N.Y.; two stepdaughters; one stepson; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Interment was at Ocean View Cemetery, Staten Island, N.Y.

JANET R. BORST, 83, of Spotswood died March 18 at home. Born in Jersey City, she had lived in Cliffwood Beach before moving to Spotswood 23 years ago. She was supervisor of voter registration for the Middlesex County Board of Education for 30 years before her retirement in 1988. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald L., in 1986. Surviving are three sons, James of Hazlet, Douglas of Old Bridge, and Richard of Helmetta; a daughter, Janet Wolber of Sayreville; a sister, Eleanor Bushman of Cliffwood Beach; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Interment was at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet.

JOHN E. PULCINE, 65, of Aberdeen died Feb. 15 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Newark, he resided there and in Colts Neck prior to moving to Aberdeen 24 years ago. He was a maintenance director for various local nursing homes, as well as the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department, Building and Grounds, Freehold. He served with the U.S. Army during peacetime. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Pulcine of Bloomfield; his wife, Mary Vogel Pulcine; three daughters, Dana Pulcine, Tiffany Pulcine and Katrina Pulcine, and his son, John P. Pulcine, all of Aberdeen; his sister, Geraldine Bennett of Pine Beach; and his granddaughter, Taylor Lind of Aberdeen. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury, 07702.

JULIA M. POLGAR PONSOLDT, 89, of Middletown died March 12 at King James Care Center, Middletown. Born in Roston, N.Y., she resided in Toms River before to moving to Middletown three years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, Harrison Ponsoldt, in 1982. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Joyce and Theodore Kenny of Middletown, and Linda O’Neill of Colts Neck; her sister, Ann LaRocca of Manchester; her brother-in-law, Samuel J. Mazzola of Hillsdale; and four grandsons. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Toms River.

NICHOLAS D. ROBERTELLI, 72, of Keansburg died March 13 at home. Born in New York City, he lived there before moving to Keansburg 36 years ago. He was employed with Key Tech, Keyport. Prior to that he was a truck driver for Teamster Local No. 707, Long Island, N.Y., for 25 years, retiring in 1978. He was served with the U.S. Navy on the USS Sicily, VT-42. His memberships included the Knickerbocker Knights of Columbus, and the Holy Name Society of St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, New York City. He was a founding member of the Italian Teamsters Organization. He is survived by his mother, Angelina Robertelli of Keansburg; his wife of 50 years, Concetta Marzigliano Robertelli of Keansburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Nancy Robertelli of Howell, and James and Darlene Robertelli of Hazlet; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and James Cocuzza, and Valerie and Theodore Gogel, all of Keansburg; his brother, Vincent Robertelli of California; two sisters, Victoria Padovan and Anna Robertelli, both of Plainfield; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Ricky Ashmore Fund, P.O. Box 4039, Middletown, 07748.

MARGARET A. STANTON, 96, of the Morganville section of Marlboro died March 13 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in New York City, she lived in Keyport for 18 years before moving to Morganville four years ago. She worked for ABC Freight, New York City, for 14 years before her retirement. She was predeceased by her husband, John J.; and two brothers, Frank and Owen Sherry. She is survived by a niece, Ann Weldon of Morganville; a nephew, Owen "Sonny" Sherry of Neptune; several grandnieces and grandnephews; and many great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. The funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery, Queens, N.Y.

SOPHIE H. WAGNER, 86, of the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen died March 14 at Cliffside Health Care, Aberdeen. Born in Perth Amboy, she was a lifelong resident of Cliffwood. She was a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Wagner in 1979. She is survived by three sons, Michael T. Wagner of Cliffwood, Carl P. Wagner of Marlboro, and John L. Wagner of Cliffwood; her daughter, Joan J. Vena of Cliffwood; her sister, Jenny Schmanski of South Amboy; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Interment was at Sacred Heart Cemetery, South Amboy.

ROBERT J. ANDREWS, 74, of Middletown died March 14 at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York City. Born in Bellingham, Wash., he lived in Parsippany prior to moving to Middletown in 1962. He was a department head for systems engineering for Bell Labs, Holmdel, for 35 years. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. His memberships included the Telephone Pioneers of America, and the IEEE Association. He also coordinated the glaucoma eye screening group for the South Jersey Pioneers of America. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marion E. Nattrass; and his sister, Geraldine Simonsen. He is survived by his wife, Martha Emden Andrews of Middletown; two sons and one daughter-in-law, David J. Andrews of Bellingham, Wash., and Scott W. and Elizabeth N. Andrews of Westport, Conn.; his daughter and son-in-law, Lori J. and Richard L. Daniels of Eatontown; and two granddaughters. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to Prevent Blindness New Jersey, 2325 Route 130, Cranbury 08512; or First Presbyterian Church, 255 Harding Road, Red Bank 07701.
