MARY DEL ROSSO, 87, of Keyport died Jan. 28 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in New York City, she was a longtime resident of Matawan. Mrs. Del Rosso was a homemaker and secretary for her husband’s general contractor business. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was a member of the Keyport Elks Ladies Auxiliary. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Del Rosso Sr., in 1985. She is survived by three sons, Dominic J. Del Rosso, Edward J. Del Rosso Jr., and Robert H. Del Rosso, all of Matawan; four daughters, Pauline Redmond of Keyport, Gloria Dimech of Jackson, Rose Bering of Spokane, Wash., and Angelina Henderson; two sisters, Eleanor Esposito and Anna Springvloed; two brothers, Emanuel Mazza and Sam Mazza; 18 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Burial was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
VERONICA WIECZOREK JAY, 86, of Keyport died Jan. 29 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born in South Amboy, she resided in the Morgan section of Sayreville and in Gardner, N.C., before moving to Keyport in 1999. Mrs. Jay was a former communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, South Amboy. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley C. Jay, in 1998; and her brother, Leon Wieczorek, in 1984. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley J. and Annette Jay of Garner, N.C., and Joseph R. and Mary Jay of Keyport; two sisters, Julia Zagata of Sayreville and Antoinette Smykay of Morgan; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, South Amboy. Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Parlin.
FREDERICK WILLIAM "BILL" GANNON, 84, of Bradenton, Fla., died Feb. 10 at Blake Memorial Hospital, Bradenton. Born in Worcester, Mass., he resided in Middletown for several years before moving to Bradenton in 1989. Mr. Gannon was a special agent for the FBI for 30 years in Red Bank, New York City, and several major cities, retiring in 1978. He also taught English and geometry for two years at Central High School, Newark. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, attaining the rank of Chief Motor Machinist. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Bradenton Lodge No. 1511. He was predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Ruth Moore Gannon, in 1989. He is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, William Gannon of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, Robert and Kris Gannon of West Chester, Pa., Mark Gannon of Port Monmouth, and Donald and Diane Gannon of Union Beach; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Ann and Phil Kaylor of the Belford section of Middletown, and Joanne and Dennis Maher of Scituate, Mass.; four grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; and his longtime companion, Veronica Gormley. EDWARD G. DEMKO SR., 78, of Browns Mills died Feb. 11 at Burlington Woods Eldercare, Burlington. Born in Pottstown, Pa., he resided in Jersey City and Union Beach before moving to Browns Mills 12 years ago. Mr. Demko was an engineer for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey at New York airports for 20 years, retiring in 1987. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 321 and the Senior Citizens Club, both Browns Mills. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary F. Demko, in 1975. He is survived by four sons, Michael Demko of Jackson, Edward Demko of East Rutherford, John Demko of Kingman, Ariz., and Joseph Demko of Union Beach; three daughters, Mary Duane of Cape Coral, Fla., Noreen Riche of Browns Mills and Diane DiGangi of Hazlet; a brother, Richard Demko of Belmar; a sister, Geraldine Schuessler of Little Egg Harbor; his longtime companion, Betty Sciarello; 12 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. ELEANOR STOECKER, 60, of Bedminster, formerly the East Keansburg section of Middletown, died Feb. 12 at Somerset Medical Center, Somerville. Born in Passaic, she resided in East Keansburg for 19 years before moving to Bedminster four years ago. Mrs. Stoecker was an office manager for Dr. Dominick Grosso, Red Bank, for several yeas, retiring in 1999. She was a former member of St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, North Middletown. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, William Stoecker of Bedminster; three sons, Richard Stoecker of Oradell, Paul Stoecker of Princeton, and William Stoecker of Wisconsin; a daughter, Diane Delaney of Keansburg; a brother, Peter Sova of Roseland; two sisters, Helen Maggaro of Tampa, Fla., and Regina Taworoski of Naples, Fla.; and four grandchildren. JOHN W. PARKINSON, 84, of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, died Feb. 13 at Masonic Home, Burlington Township. Born in County Louth, Ireland, he resided in Port Monmouth since 1986. He was a retired refrigeration engineer for Atlantic Elevator, Belleville. Prior to that, he worked at Bankers Trust, New York City, and Peoples Trust, Bergen County and Hackensack. He served with the Merchant Marine for the United Kingdom during World War II. He was a past master of Boiling Spring Lodge No. 152 Free & Accepted Masons, Rutherford, and a past patron of Order of Eastern Star Rutherford Chapter No. 24. Mr. Parkinson was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Vera Prince Parkinson, in 1997. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Robert Boerner-Coberg of the New Monmouth section of Middletown, and Beverly and Thomas Larson of Middletown; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
AVITA P. TERRY, 72, of Middletown died Feb. 13 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Elizabeth, she lived in Elizabeth prior to moving to Middletown several years ago. Mrs. Terry was retired and held several positions, including receptionist for AA Answering Service and the office of Dr. Anthony Bruno, and catalog sales at Sears Roebuck, all Middletown; as well as teller at Keansburg Middletown National Bank. She was an avid golfer. She was predeceased by a sister, Rosemary Cofield. She is survived by her husband, Alfred Terry of Middletown; her son and daughter-in-law, Alfred C. and Deborah A. Terry Jr. of Middletown; her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Bruce Carter of Middletown; her brother, Vincent Shea of Calabash, N.C.; four sisters, Ruth Kennedy of Lakewood, Marice Kneipher of the West Keansburg section of Hazlet, Alicia LaManna of Middletown, and Elenita Palette of Tinton Falls; and three grandchildren. LILLIAN M. SAVAGE KOSYK, 83, of Middletown died Feb. 16 at home. She was born in Red Bank, and graduated from Red Bank High School. She was a salesperson and manager at Flora’s Dress Shop, Red Bank, for 26 years. Prior to that, she was a secretary, then manager at Continental Car Dealer, Red Bank. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. She was a volunteer at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, and vice president of the Shadow Lake Riverview Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Red Bank Woman’s Club. She was predeceased by her husband, Mike Kosyk in 1988. She is survived by her son, Frank J. CHARLINE J. HEMHAUSER, 73, of Red Bank died Feb. 20 at Avanti, Red Bank. Born in Newark, she resided in Hazlet for 20 years prior to moving to Red Bank two years ago. She was a communicant of St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, North Middletown. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America at St. Ann’s Church, Keansburg. She was predeceased by a son, Daniel Hemhauser in 2001; and a granddaughter, Lynn Hardin in 1985. She is survived by her daughter, Bernadette Widmaier of the Belford section of Middletown; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Thomas and Ellen Hemhauser of Tinton Falls, Michael and Lorraine Hemhauser of Middletown, and Joseph Hemhauser of Hazlet; her sister, Lorene Denney of West Orange; and eight grandchildren. VERONICA DUNA ANDERSON, 63, of Red Bank died Feb. 25 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in New York City, she resided there prior to moving to Red Bank 43 years ago. Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker. Her hobbies included time with her family, and she was an avid bingo player. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ronald C. Anderson; three daughters, Donamarie Arbothnot of Columbia, S.C., and Rhonda Ann Soviero and Brenda Rose Anderson, both of Red Bank; her sister, Rosemarie Romano of Pleasantville; two granddaughters; and two grandsons.
