BARBARA BRUNO, 93, of Long Branch died Feb. 23 at Monmouth Care Center, Long Branch. She was a lifelong resident of Long Branch. Ms. Bruno was a retired seamstress for Kay Dunhill, Long Branch, for 10 years. She was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch, where she was the organist and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was past president of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 742 Ladies Auxiliary, Long Branch. Her hobbies included playing piano and organ, which she also taught to her family. She was predeceased by six brothers and four sisters. Ms. Bruno is survived by her sister, Rose Cararo of Eatontown; three sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Burial was at Mount Carmel Cemetery, West Long Branch.
SERGEANT WILLIAM E. HUTTING, 72, of Eatontown died Feb. 20 at St. Barnabas Hospice, Long Branch. Born in Paterson, he resided in Eatontown since 1937. He was a police officer for the Borough of Eatontown for 27 years, retiring in 1980. He was also a fireman at Monmouth Park Racetrack, Oceanport, for 15 years. He was a member of the Asbury Baptist Church, Asbury Park. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a Charter Member of the Eatontown Elks No. 2402, a 3rd Degree Mason and member of the Navesink Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Oakhurst section of Ocean Township. He served as an ex-fire chief for the Eatontown Fire Department, as well as an ex-captain for the Eatontown First Aid Squad. His activities included hunting and fishing. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy Hutting. He is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, William B. and Deborah Hutting of Brick, Robert R. Hutting of Eatontown, and Michael P. Hutting of Long Branch; his daughter and son-in-law, Donna L. and William Goetz of Eatontown; two sisters, Dorothy Wiggs of West Chester, Pa., and Betty Ann Gregory of Sarasota, Fla.; and three grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were by Braun Funeral Home, Eatontown. Interment

JOSEPH H. ROSATI, 89, of West Long Branch died Feb. 21 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Red Bank, he resided in West Long Branch since 1950. He was a teacher, football coach and athletic director during his 47-year employment at Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School, where the gymnasium is dedicated to him. He also was manager at Surfside Beach Club, West End section of Long Branch, for 20 years. He was a parishioner of St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church, West Long Branch. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II as a sergeant. He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa Scaglione Rosati in 2000; his sisters, Jennie, Maggie, Millie and Anna; and his brother, Henry. He is survived by his son, Joseph A. Rosati of West Long Branch; three grandsons; his sister-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church, West Long Branch. Interment
was at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.
ANTHONY S. SICA, 92, of Middletown died March 8 at Green Acres Manor, Toms River. Born in San Arsceno, Italy, he resided in Belleville for 50 years before moving to Middletown 23 years ago. Mr. Sica was a warehouseman at General Motors, Bloomfield, for 23 years, retiring in 1955. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Sica, in 1994. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Sebastian and Angela Sica of Ocean; his daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Orlando Graziano of Lakewood; his brother, Sam Sica of Belleville; four sisters, Rose Zirricco of Indianapolis, Ange Squitieri of Middletown, Rita Squitieri of Florida, and Mary Esposito of Manchester; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown, followed by burial at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
JACQUES J. "JACK" GUIRE SR., 77, of West Long Branch died March 17 at Jersey Shore Center, Eatontown. Born in New York City, he resided in Long Branch prior to moving to West Long Branch in 1959. Mr. Guire was a retired bus driver for Asbury Park-New York Transit. He was also the owner of Peeps Trucking, West Long Branch, and a van service. Prior to that, he was the proprietor of John Guire Co., Long Branch, for 25 years, retiring in 1984. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a former captain and trustee of the West End Engine Company of the Long Branch Fire Department, and an honorary member of the West Long Branch Fire Company No. 2. He was an avid fan of NASCAR racing. Mr. Guire is survived by his wife, Katherine Conte Guire of West Long Branch; two sons, Jacques J. Guire Jr. and John Guire, both West Long Branch; his daughter, Diane Guire of Long Branch; his sister, Yvonne L. Guire of Long Branch; and one grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Entombment was at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport.
JOSEPH JAMES SANTELLE, 85, of Oceanport died March 12 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Newark, he resided in Red Bank prior to moving to Oceanport. Mr. Santelle was employed at Blaisdell Lumber, Red Bank, for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and in the Naval Reserve for 40 years. He was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. His memberships included the Retired Officers Association, Naval Airship Association, and American Builders Association. He was predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Antoinette M. Alexander Santelle, in 1982. Mr. Santelle is survived by three daughters, Marilyn Lane of Keyport, Pamela Conklin of Oceanport and Jamie Kretsch of Eatontown; his brother, Dominick Santelle of Little Silver; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson. EVELYN V. KASCH JANECZKO, 89, of Neptune died March 10 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Hoboken, she resided in Highlands prior to moving to Neptune. Mrs. Janeczko was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter J. Janeczko, in 1974. She is survived by her son, Walter J. Janeczko of Rumson.
CRAIG MATTHEW ABBES, 35, of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, died March 11 at home. Born in Red Bank, he was a lifelong resident of the Middletown/Port Monmouth area. A telephone technician, he was a communicant of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Laurie L. Copple Abbes of Port Monmouth; his parents, Ronald C. and Sandra Craig Abbes of the Lincroft section of Middletown; two daughters, and sons, Kiley, Aubrey, Craig Jr. and Peter Abbes, all of Port Monmouth; three sisters, S. Carolyn Pelton of Toms River, Cheryl Kunze of Virginia Beach, Va., and Diane Costes of Alamo, Calif.; his brother, Ronald Abbes Jr. of Danville, Calif.; and his grandmothers, Gertrude Abbes of Holmdel and Alice Craig of Martinez, Calif. JAMES D. HUNTER, 72, of Hazlet died March 16 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Passaic, he resided in Clifton before moving to Hazlet 39 years ago. Mr. Hunter was a producer and director at WPIX Channel 11 Sports Yankees and MSG Network, New York, for 38 years, retiring in 1992. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Middletown, as well as the Naval Institute. Mr. Hunter is survived by his wife, Connie Mistretta Hunter of Hazlet; two daughters, Eileen Nicholl of Succasunna, and Constance Higgins of Union Beach; his son, James Hunter Jr. of Maryland; his brother, Thomas Hunter of Ringwood; his sister, Catherine McKenna of the Wayside section of Ocean Township; and five grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. Interment
was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
RUSSELL M. BORUS, 90, of St. Louis, Mo., and formerly of the Red Bank area, died March 2 following a battle with cancer. Mr. Borus was the founder and owner of Borus Real Estate and Insurance Agency, Fair Haven. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, enlisting at Fort Monmouth and serving as a Signal Corps depot officer in the South Pacific. He was the former president of the Red Bank Area Multiple Listing Service. His memberships included the Fair Haven Lions Club, Shadow Lake Kiwanis Club, and Red Bank Elks Club. Mr. Borus was predeceased by his wife, Viola Babcock Borus. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Dr. Gilbert Hart of St. Louis, with whom he lived, and Holly and John Ritger of Atlanta; his son and daughter-in-law, Russell H. and Kate Moran Borus of Toms River; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
