JOSEPH GLENN of the Parlin section of Sayreville died July 13 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Irene Kania Glenn; two daughters, Alisa Glenn and Wendy Glenn, both of Parlin; two sisters, Jennie Glenn of Spencer, N.Y., and Sophie Jasko of Monroe; a brother, John Glenn of Arizona City, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sayreville.
GEORGE W. SAUER, 56, of Spotswood died July 15 at home. Surviving are his wife, Nancy K. Sauer; a son, Shawn Sauer of Spotswood; and two sisters, Sharon English of Murrels Inlet, S.C., and Laurie Badessa of Sayreville. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association.
ROSE MARIE SZABO, 55, of Spotswood died July 15 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Surviving are a brother, Charles Szabo of South River; four aunts, Ruth Gutowski and June Johnson, both of Spotswood, Wanda Kredl of Old Bridge and Helen Wilson of Florida; an uncle, David Wilson of Jackson; and many cousins. Services were under the direction of Eckman Funeral Home, Spotswood. Interment
was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick.
PAUL KERN, 46, of South River, formerly of Old Bridge, died July 19 after a weeklong stay at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, where he was taken after suffering a heart attack while attempting to rescue his neighbors’ children from a house fire in South River. A graduate of Cedar Ridge High School, Old Bridge, he was a former lieutenant for Engine Company No. 3, South Old Bridge Fire Department. He was a technician at Open Road Mazda, Edison, and a mechanic at Loman Ford, Woodbridge. Surviving are his partner, Elizabeth Bund; two sons, Steven Kern of Bridgeton and Edward Kern of South Amboy; a daughter, Jamie Kern, at home; his parents, Paul I. and Marcella Gutkowski Kern of Old Bridge; two brothers, John Kern and Joseph Kern, both of East Brunswick; a sister, Mary Deady of Manalapan; and three nieces and a nephew. Services were held at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Interment
was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick.
ANGELO ASCOLESE JR., 27, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died July 27 in JFK Medical Center, Edison. Surviving are his wife, Cecelia Villig Ascolese; his wife’s son, Liam; his parents, Amelia and Angelo Ascolese of Parlin; a brother, Dominic Ascolese of Parlin; a sister, Kathleen Collazo of Parlin; his maternal grandmother, Connie Lepore of Newark; his paternal grandparents, Frances and Anthony Ascolese of the Toms River section of Dover; a nephew; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lynn and Steve Villig of South Amboy. A Mass is planned for 10 a.m. on July 31 at St. Bernadette’s Church, Parlin section of Old Bridge. Interment
will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick.
FRED J. SCHROETTER, 73, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, formerly of Brick, died July 25 at home. Surviving are his companion, Jacklin Hills; three daughters, Theresa Walker of the Toms River section of Dover, Sandra Abbott of Goodlet, Tenn., and Linda Burkett of Point Pleasant; two sons, Fred Schroetter of Virginia and Michael Schroetter of Brick; two stepsons, Andrew Hills of Stroudsburg, Pa., and Christopher Hills of South Amboy; a sister, Joann Poggi of Long Island, N.Y.; and 11 grandchildren. Services were under the direction of Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy.
VIRGINIA MICHALIK GERALTOWSKI, 75, of Sayreville died July 24 at home. Prior to her retirement in 1993, she was a teacher at St. Stanislaus Kostka School, Sayreville, where she worked for 23 years and attained the Educator of the Year award from the Diocese of Metuchen. Surviving are her husband, Henry S. Geraltowski; a son, Michael Geraltowski of South Amboy; a daughter, Gail Winters of Carteret; three brothers, Edwin and Frank Michalik, both of Sayreville, and George Michalik of West Windsor; and a grandson. A Mass was offered at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sayreville. Interment
was in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Kostka School Building Fund, MacArthur Avenue, Sayreville, NJ 08872.
ALBERT J. ROSSI, 57, of South Amboy died July 24 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to his retirement, he worked for National Lead Industries, Sayreville, for many years. Surviving are his wife, Joanne Koyi Rossi; a son, Ronald Rossi of Keyport; three brothers, John, William and Robert Rossi, all of Florida; many nieces and nephews; and a lifetime family friend, Linda Savage of Union Beach. A Mass was offered at St. Joseph’s Church, Keyport. Interment
was in the church cemetery.
MARY LETTS QUINLAN MULLALY of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of South Amboy, died July 23 at home. A son, Jaye Letts, died in 1998. Surviving are her husband, Philip Mullaly; a son, Robert Letts of South Amboy; three stepsons, Michael Mullaly of Connecticut and Kevin and Brian Mullaly, both of New Jersey; four grandchildren; and 10 step-grandchildren. Services were held in Tucson. Cremation was private.
WILLIAM G. NORMAN, 59, of New Brunswick, formerly of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died July 25 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Susan J. Bates Norman; two daughters, Brenda Gafanha of Hightstown and Jessica Lynne Norman of New Brunswick; two sons, Todd Norman of Mechanicsville, Va., and James B. Norman of Bayonne; a sister, Joyce Lynne Crawford of Sayreville; three grandchildren; and two nieces. Services were held at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin. Cremation was private.
