ANN COSTELLO FLANIGAN, 92, of South Amboy died April 11 at home. Her husband, James E. Flanigan, died in 1995. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Mary’s Church, South Amboy. Entombment was in St. Mary’s Mausoleum, South Amboy.
PAUL FLICK, 48, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died April 13 at home. Surviving are his parents, Ferdinand and Marie Pinto Flick of Parlin; a brother, Ferdinand P. Flick of Bronxville, N.Y.; and a sister, Annette P. Riddle of Piscataway. A Mass was offered at St. Bernadette’s Church, Parlin section of Old Bridge.
JOHN J. ALAI, 74, of South River died April 12 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was the owner and founder of John J. Alai and Son Tile Contractors, South River. Surviving are his wife, Mary Mulhearn Alai; two sons, Richard and John J. "Jack" Jr., both of South River; four daughters, Kathi Kalmbach of Vancouver, Wash., Regina Alai of Jacksonville, Fla., Joanne Alai of Portland, Ore., and Mary Ellen Keller of Spotswood; three brothers, William of Florida, Edward of Maplewood and George of Long Valley; and eight grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Corpus Christi Church, South River. Entombment was in Frost Woods Memorial Park, East Brunswick. CONNIE DAMIANO, 89, of Spotswood died April 11 in Old Bridge Manor. Her husband, Anthony Damiano, died in 1981. Surviving are two sons, Frank of Hampstead, N.H., and Vincent of Manahawkin; two daughters, Antoinette Petronzio of Spotswood and Carmela Bessinger of East Brunswick; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Milltown. Entombment was in St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick.
NATALIE DOHERTY, 60, of South River, formerly of Old Bridge, died April 10 at home. Surviving are three sons, Sean Doherty of South River, Edward J. Doherty of Bound Brook and James Doherty of Lakehurst; two brothers, James Spence of Lagrangeville, N.Y., and Elwood Johnson of Roslyn Heights, N.Y.; and five grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Corpus Christi Church, South River. Interment
was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick.
MARK DAVID TAKACS, 21, of Old Bridge died April 10. He was a student at Middlesex County College, Edison. He attended St. Thomas the Apostle School, Old Bridge, and graduated in 1999 from Bishop George Ahr High School, Edison. Surviving are his parents, Robert and Patricia Mansfield Takacs of Old Bridge; a brother, Robert, at home; a sister, Jaime Nienstedt of Morris Plains; his paternal grandmother, Frances Takacs of Fanwood; his maternal grandmother, Trudy Mansfield of the Lincroft section of Middletown; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Services were held at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Cremation was private.
DANIEL J. TRAVINSKI, 74, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died April 7 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. Prior to his retirement in 1993, he was employed as plant manager at Himont USA, East Brunswick, where he worked for 35 years. A son, Robert D. Travinski, died in 1989. Surviving are his wife, Betty Jane Collins Travinski; a son, Daniel of the Morgan section of Sayreville; a daughter, Colleen Luma of Sayreville; a sister, Gloria Dehnz of South Amboy; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Sacred Heart Church, South Amboy. Interment
was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Parlin.
GEORGE S. VOLGYI, 78, of South River died April 7 at home. He was a member of the South River Police Reserve. Surviving are his wife, Nina Kaminsky Volgyi; two daughters, Sandra Hoff of Sayreville and Diane Horvath of South River; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Arvoy of Milltown; and three grandchildren. A service was held at Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, South River. Interment
was in the church cemetery.
FIORENZO FEDULLO, 82, of Monroe died April 5 at home. Born in Pisciotta, Italy, he lived in Freehold before moving to Monroe more than 10 years ago. He was a supervisor for Bell Labs, Holmdel, where he was employed for 20 years before his retirement more than 20 years ago. Prior to that, he was employed at the Nestlé Co., Freehold. He attended the Evangelical Baptist Church, Freehold Township. Surviving are his wife, Nina Vaskin Kazlauskas Fedullo; a stepson, Boyd Youngblood, Neptune; a sister, Disma Moore, Riverview, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
LOUIS CASTAGNOZZI, 83, of Old Bridge, formerly of Cape Coral, Fla., died March 27 in Reformed Church Home, Old Bridge. His wife, Lucy Antoniu Castagnozzi, died in 2001. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Vasata of Old Bridge; and two grandchildren, William Jr. and Andrea. A Mass was offered at St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge. Interment
was in Holy Cross Burial Park Cemetery, South Brunswick.
