LOUIS ODIERNO JR., 44, of East Brunswick, formerly of South River, died March 16 in the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia. Surviving are his wife, Susan Spengler Odierno; a son, Gregory Odierno of Florida; a daughter, Gina Odierno, also of Florida; two stepsons, David Madura and Danny Madura, both of East Brunswick; his mother, Marie Odierno of South River; his father, Louis Odierno of Florida; a brother, Alfred of Manchester; and a sister, Lucille Balazs of South River. A Mass is planned for 9:30 a.m. on March 21 at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
RAMON A. RIVERA, 48, of Monroe, formerly of Manalapan, died March 17 in Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Surviving are his wife, Amy; his mother, Altagracia of the Bronx, N.Y.; two sons, Jason Rivera of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Stephen Rivera of Monroe; two daughters, Christine Rivera of California and Tracy Rivera of Monroe; and three grandchildren. A funeral liturgy is planned for 10 a.m. on March 21 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Manalapan. Entombment will follow in St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Marlboro.
KATHLEEN M. ELLISON CLAYTON, 58, of Perth Amboy died March 5 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. Her husband, Clifford J. Clayton, died in 2000, and a daughter, Susan Marie, died in 1991. Surviving are two sons, George Clayton of Little Falls and Daniel Clayton of Perth Amboy; three daughters, Yvonne Huff of Point Pleasant, Rhonda Pianka of Old Bridge and Noel Clayton of Piscataway; two brothers, William Ellison of St. Petersburg Beach, Fla., and Joseph Ellison of Saylorsburg, Pa.; four sisters, Patricia Petho and Susan Ellison, both of the Parlin section of Sayreville, Maureen Martin of Old Bridge and Nancy Peterson of the Morgan section of Sayreville; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Stephen’s Church, Perth Amboy. Interment
was in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy.
HAZEL M. WHITWORTH CONWAY, 96, of South Amboy died March 4 at home. Her husband, Albert J. Conway, died in 1969. Surviving are two daughters, Evelyn M. Conway of South Amboy and Jean Catlett of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services were held at Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy. Interment
was in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy.
CLARA CIEJAK FLOYSTROP, 81, of Sayreville died March 8 in Cedar Oaks Care Center, Edison. Her husband, James A. Floystrop, died in 1972. Surviving are three sons, James of Mount Pleasant, Pa., Donald of Willingboro and Thomas of Spotswood; a daughter, Mary Halmo of Linden, Va.; a sister, Mary Trepesowsky of Sayreville; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services are planned for 11 a.m. on March 7 at Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville. Interment
will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin section of Sayreville.
FLORENCE O’SUCH GARBOWSKI GALLAS, 95, of Sayreville died March 5 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to her retirement, she was the owner of Lou’s Tavern, Sayreville, for more than 50 years. Her first husband, Louis Garbowski, died in 1943, and her second husband, Joseph Gallas, died in 1988. Surviving are two sons, Louis Garbowski and Donald Garboski, both of Sayreville; a brother, Chester O’Such, and a sister, Jean Poplowski, both of Sayreville; a sister-in-law, Adele O’Such, also of Sayreville; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Interment
was St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
GAVIN ALEXANDER JONAS and DYLAN RAYMOND JONAS, newborn twin brothers, of Old Bridge died Feb. 28 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are their parents, Jeff and Melanie Totten Jonas of Old Bridge; their maternal grandparents, Sandy Totten and Raymond and Leslie Totten, all of Old Bridge; their paternal grandparents, Adele and Louis Jonas of Old Bridge; their maternal great-grandmother, Pauline Rhodes of Old Bridge; Gavin’s godparents, Raymond Totten and Amy B. Jonas; and Dylan’s godparents, Edward Obal Jr. and Shannon Totten. Graveside services were held at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick.
SARA "SALLY" NUGENT JAWIDOWICZ, 72, of Sayreville died March 3 in M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Sayreville Board of Education as a telephone operator and then as a cafeteria worker at Sayreville War Memorial High School, where she worked for many years. Her husband, Adolph Jawidowicz, died in 2001. Surviving are a son, Allan Jawidowicz of Sayreville; two daughters, Bonnie Evans of Kingwood, Texas, and Carol Kaden of Jackson; and four grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Interment
was in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Sayreville.
PAUL F. ROBERTS SR., 83, of Sayreville died March 6 in Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. His wife, Constance Gudaitis Roberts, died in 1992. Surviving are two sons, Paul F. Roberts Jr. of Spotswood and Kenneth B. Roberts of Jackson; a daughter, Daryl-Ann Roberts of Sayreville; a brother, Ralph Roberts of Saginaw, Mich.; a sister, Shirley Picardi, also of Saginaw; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary’s Church, South Amboy. Cremation was private. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church, South Amboy.
FRANCES C. MASON HAMMEL, 92, of Old Bridge died March 6 in Reformed Church Home, Old Bridge. Her husband, Albert Hammel, died in 1972. Surviving are two daughters, Arlene F.
