STEVEN J. EPSTEIN, 21, of the Parlin section of Old Bridge died March 8 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was a 2000 graduate of Old Bridge High School and had attended Middlesex County College, Edison. He was employed as a check processor with First Union Bank, North Brunswick. Surviving are his parents, Richard J. and Carolyn Mileto Epstein, with whom he lived; two brothers, Michael and Christopher Epstein, both of Parlin; and his paternal grandparents, Robert and Kitty Epstein of Tamarac, Fla. A Mass was offered at St. Bernadette’s Church, Parlin. Interment
was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
STELLA ZAMBROSKI WEBER, 80, of South River died March 9 in Old Bridge Manor. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry A., and by two sons, Henry J. and William. Surviving are many friends. A Mass was offered at St. Stephen Protomartyr Church, South River. Interment
was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.
GEORGE E. SHULER, 71, of South Amboy died Feb. 26 at home. He was a founding member of the South Amboy Irish-American Association, where he served as treasurer for the past 25 years. Surviving are two sisters, Alice Coman of South Amboy and Margaret Gould of Indianapolis; 15 nieces and nephews; and 11 great-nieces and great-nephews. Services were held at Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy. Interment
was in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy.
JOSEPHINE DRYJA ZALESKI, 93, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died Feb. 26 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Zaleski; two sons, Joseph S. Zaleski and Richard Zaleski; two daughters, Mary Bunsick and Margaret Zaleski; and a grandson, William S. Zaleski. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, William and Irene Zaleski of Parlin; a daughter-in-law, Toni Zaleski Brominski of Perth Amboy; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Sacred Heart Church, South Amboy. Entombment was in Sacred Heart Mausoleum, Parlin.
HELEN E. UNKEL ZEH, 82, of South Amboy, formerly of Sayreville, died March 3 at home. Her husband, Roland Zeh, died in 1993. Surviving are two sons, Roland R. Zeh of Plainfield and Theodore S. Zeh of Metuchen; a brother, Theodore Unkel of Fort Meyers Beach, Fla.; a sister, Edna Lasko of Freehold; four grandchildren; and her caretaker, Helina Debek of South Amboy. A service was held at First Presbyterian Church, Sayreville. Private cremation followed. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Sayreville or to the charity of one’s choice.
MARTHA URBANSKI SAMUEL, 84, of Sayreville died March 4 at home. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Samuel. Surviving are two daughters, Lorraine Bauman and Linda Schafer, both of Sayreville; a sister, Wanda Katchur of Perth Amboy; a brother, Edward Urbanski of Perth Amboy; three granddaughters; and a great-grandson. A Mass is planned for 10:30 a.m. on March 7 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sayreville. Interment
will follow in the church cemetery.
JOSEPH R. MONTANO, 76, of Old Bridge died Feb. 28 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Cynthia Ann Steel Montano; two sons, James of Jackson and Andrew of Freehold; two daughters, Elizabeth of Cranbury and Carol Jacobs of New York City; and five grandchildren. was in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown section of North Hanover.
CARRIE V. "NETTIE" MISKIN BURKONSTOCK, 85, of Spotswood died Feb. 10 in Care One, East Brunswick. She served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Women’s Army Corps during World War II. Surviving are her husband, Joseph A. Burkonstock, and a nephew, Harry Trenery of the Cliffwood Beach section of Old Bridge.
GEORGE BARKAUSKAS, 60, of Old Bridge, formerly of East Brunswick, died March 3 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Surviving are his wife, Violet Varjassy Barkauskas; a son, David of Tampa, Fla.; a daughter, Sharon Stefanoni of Beach Haven Park; four sisters, Priscilla McConnell, Joan Cerep and Patricia Corcoran, all of Scranton, Pa., and Elizabeth Gedrimas of Lyndhurst; two grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A Mass is planned for 10 a.m. on March 7 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Private cremation will follow. ANNE MARIE NOVAJOSKY HALLORAN, 75, died Feb. 27 in Western Wake Medical Center, Cary, N.C. Her husband, Robert J. Halloran, died in 1995. Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Halloran of East Brunswick and Doreen Nelson of Cary; three sisters, Mary August, Joan Gyuriska and Carol Grega, all of Dunmore, Pa.; and three grandchildren.
