MILTON ENGEL, 98, of Virginia Beach, Va., formerly of Old Bridge, died Jan. 6 in Virginia Beach Healthcare Center. He was predeceased by his wife, Betty Baxt Engel, and by a grandson, Robert Samuel Engel. Surviving are a son, Robert Engel of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Paula Grill of the Neshanic Station section of Branchburg; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a stepgrandson. Graveside services were held at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin section of Woodbridge. CONNIE ARLENE SCHRUMP HENKE, 65, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, formerly of South Amboy, died Jan. 8 at home. She was predeceased by a daughter, Joyce Ann Henke. Surviving are her husband, Lawrence W. Henke Sr.; three sons, Lawrence W. Jr. of Parlin, Michael L. of the Toms River section of Dover and Gerald E. of Gulfport, Miss.; a brother, William Schrump of Florida; three sisters, Patty Faulkner of Wheeling, W.Va., and June Schrump and Nancy Giancola, both of Martins Ferry, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services were held at Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy. Interment
was in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, W.Va.
WILLIAM WISTUBA, 84, of Sayreville died Jan. 10 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. Surviving are two sisters, Mildred Trent of Sayreville and Sophie Winkler of the Brick Town section of Brick; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Stanislaus Church, Sayreville. Interment
was in the church cemetery.
ANN MARIE DeMAIO, 72, of Old Bridge died Jan. 8 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Surviving are her husband, James DeMaio; a son, James Anthony DeMaio of Manalapan; a daughter, Suzanne Marie Hoos of Old Bridge; two brothers, Joseph Machlica of Pompton Beach, Fla., and Steve Machlica of Smithtown, N.Y.; and five grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
COLLEEN CALVEY POHOPIN, 70, of Old Bridge died Jan. 6 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Her husband, John "Bill" Pohopin, died in 1990. Surviving are a son, Michael Pohopin of Princeton; a daughter, Kathleen Pohopin of the Morganville section of Marlboro; her father, Michael Calvey of Pennsylvania; a sister, Salle Ann Clark; a grandson; and many nieces and nephews. was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.
CHARLES J. RAJNER, 59, of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown died Jan. 13 at home. Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Clark Rajner; two sons, Brandon Rajner of Little Silver and Christopher Rajner of Port Monmouth; a daughter, Melanie Rajner of the Parlin section of Sayreville; four brothers, Edmond Rajner of Bainbridge, N.Y., Richard Rajner of Glenn View, Ill., John Rajner of Theresa, N.Y., and Alex Rajner of Dumont; and a sister, Sarah Kaban of Central Islip, N.Y. EDWARD S. ROJEWSKI, 74, of St. Joseph, Mo., formerly of Sayreville, died Dec. 1 at home. Surviving are his wife, Rita Kinser Rojewski; two sons, Edward Rojewski of Lady Lake, Fla., and John Rojewski of North Carolina; three stepsons, Michael Slavin of Houston, Richard Wright of Branson, Mo., and Sean T. Wright of St. Joseph; five daughters, Denise Rojewski of Mulberry, Ind., Mary Victoria Jetmore of Sacramento, Calif., Sue Hall of Fruitland, Fla., Natalie Lane of Lady Lake and Jamie Amanda Rojewski of Indiana; and a stepdaughter, Michelle Wahlers of Kansas City, Mo. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Local arrangements are under the direction of Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville.
HELEN SENTIPEL SAUER, 86, of Sayreville died Jan. 11 in Carriage House Manor, Sayreville. She was predeceased by her husband, Alvin Sauer; a daughter, Lillian May Sanfillippo; and a son, Alvin Sauer. Surviving are a son-in-law, Robert Sanfillippo of the Parlin section of Sayreville; a sister, Mary Vissers of Doylestown, Pa.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A service was held at Nativity of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church, East Brunswick. Interment
was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick.
WILLIAM M. GUNDRUM, 51, of Los Lunas, N.M., formerly of South Amboy, died Dec. 28 in Los Lunas. Prior to moving to New Mexico, he was employed as a funeral director at the Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy. Surviving are three sons, Stephen, Kaleb and Joshua Gundrum; a daughter, Faith Gundrum; his parents, George and Ivalou Gundrum Hoffman Gundrum of Lavallette; and two sisters, Jeannine Hogan of Brick and Mary Oliver of the Toms River section of Dover. Services were held at Grace Fellowship Church, Los Lunas. Interment
was in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan.
PETER A. FISCHLER SR., 89, of Keyport died Dec. 27 in Victoria Health Care, Matawan. His wife, Anna R., died in 1979. Surviving are two sons, Peter A. Fischler Jr. of the Whiting section of Manchester and Andrew J. Fischler of Keyport; three daughters, Nina Jeandron and MaryAnne Fischler, both of Keyport, and Nancy Calati of the Morganville section of Marlboro; two brothers, Joseph Fischler and Frank Fischler, both of Keyport; three sisters, Helen Pitonak of Keyport, Barbara Basko of Hazlet and Ann Kulas of Old Bridge; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
