DOROTHY S. LeVAN, 98, of Freehold, died July 8 at Applewood Estates, Freehold Township. Born in Reading, Pa., she resided in Sellersville, Pa., and the Short Hills section of Millburn prior to relocating to Freehold in 1993. She was a retired assistant to the treasurer at Berks County Trust Co., Reading, Pa. She was an accomplished musician and specialized in piano and organ compositions. She was a former active volunteer at the American Red Cross, Girl Scouts and Grandview Hospital, Sellersville, Pa. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ambrose E. LeVan of Freehold; her daughter, Joan Jones; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Interment
was at Gethsemani Cemetery, Reading, Pa. Memorial donations may be made to Applewood Estates Residents Assistance Fund, 1 Applewood Drive, Freehold 07728.
ALMA MAE BLACK, 72, of Freehold, died July 9 at home. Born in Freehold, she was a lifelong resident. She was predeceased by her son, Stephen, in 1995. She is survived by her husband, Robert Black of Freehold; her daughter and son-in-law, Lori and William Johnson of Jackson; her brother, Joe Groth of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three sisters, Dot Jones of Manasquan, and Harriet Ketcham and Mary Quinn, both of Freehold; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements were by the Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold.
NELLIE BATTISTA BERRYMAN, 83, of Freehold, died July 2 at home. Mrs. Berryman was born in Scranton, Pa., and had lived in Dunmore, Pa., before moving to Freehold more than 50 years ago. She was a graduate of Dunmore High School, Dunmore, Pa., and Marywood University, Scranton, Pa. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, a former member of the church Parish Council, a former member of St. Rose of Lima Court No. 737, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, a member of the St. Rose of Lima PTA, a charter member of the Monmouth County Retired Teachers Association, and was active in the formation of Freehold Area Hospital, now known as CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. Berryman was a teacher in the Ardena, West Freehold and Colts Neck schools for 25 years before her retirement in 1970. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph L. Berryman, who died in 2002; her parents, Peter and Marry Battista; and a sister, Catherine Igoe. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Peter and Suzanne Berryman and Joseph and Kathleen Berryman, all of Freehold; a daughter, Marry Ellen Berryman, at home; two sisters, Genevieve Sileo and Lucille Battista, both of Dunmore, Pa.; five grandchildren, Tiffany, Joseph, Jaclyn, Brittany and Austin; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Rose of Lima, followed by interment at the parish cemetery. Memorial donations to the VNA Hospice, 141 Bodman Place, Red Bank 07701 would be appreciated.
THEODORE EDWARD FERRO, 59, of Aberdeen, died July 2 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. He was born in Newark and raised in Englishtown. He moved to Aberdeen two years ago. Mr. Ferro was employeed at ShopRite of Aberdeen. Prior to that he was employeed at Washington Forge Company, Englishtown, and Waltrich Plastics, Manalapan. Surviving are a brother and a sister-in-law, Edward and Annie Ferro, Freehold; a sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Les Floyd, Sutton, W.Va.; an aunt, Marie Hallbauer and her husband, Robert, Edison; an uncle, Matthew Trivett, and his wife, Antoinette, Toms River; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the family would be appreciated.
EDWARD C. LIS, 74, of Freehold Township, died June 30 CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mr. Lis was born in Newark and had lived in the Avenel section of Woodbridge before moving to Freehold Township 38 years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Lis was a chemical engineer for ABB/Lummus, Bloomfield, before his retirement. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Freehold, where he served as a deacon. Mr. Lis was a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and Artisan Lodge No. 47, Philadelphia. A son, Arthur Lis, died in 1981. Interment

GERALDINE C. CARR McCARTHY, 70, of Hazlet died June 29 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Jersey City, she resided there before moving to Hazlet 33 years ago. She was a homemaker. Prior to that, she was an operator at N.J. Bell Telephone, Jersey City, for 15 years. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila L. and Bill Ferinden of Middletown; her son and daughter-in-law, Sean W. and Eileen McCarthy of Howell; her former husband, William McCarthy of Brick; two sisters, Alva Larkin of Texas, and Mary Ann Barry of Lakewood; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered July 2 at 9:15 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum, Keyport. LEWIS McKEE, 45, of the Lincroft section of Middletown, died June 27 at home. He was a Lincroft resident most of his life. He was a lawn equipment salesman at Cerlione’s Lawn and Garden Equipment, Hazlet. He was predeceased by his wife, Joanne Keating McKee in 2002; and his parents, James and Lorraine Harvey McKee. He is survived by his brother, Charles McKee of Tinton Falls. Visitation will be July 2 from 5-7 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral gathering will be July 3 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
MIKLOS G. SIMON, 51, of Red Bank died June 20 at home. Born in Budapest, Hungary, he resided in Rumson and Fort Lauderdale, Fla., prior to moving to Red Bank recently. Mr. Simon was a tennis pro at New Shrewsbury Racquet Club, Tinton Falls. He also was a professional soccer player and classical violinist, and enjoyed martial arts and classical music. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the New Shrewsbury Racquet Club.
PEGGY A. TIMIDAISKI, 69, of Colt Neck died June 20 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Newark, she had been a resident of Colts Neck for more than 50 years. Mrs. Timidaiski was an administrative assistant at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, for 25 years before retiring in January. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Colts Neck, where she was a member of the Martha and Mary Guild. She also was a member of the Colts Neck Seniors. Mrs. Timidaiski was predeceased by her husband, David W., in January. She is survived by her mother, Frances Landgraff of Shrewsbury; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David Timidaiski of Eatontown, and Joseph and Kathleen Timidaiski of Lawsonville, N.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and John Rener of Middletown; a sister, Audrey Norton of Onley, Va.; and two grandchildren. MARGARET H. LETTICH CARCICH, 90, of Howell died June 26 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Little Ferry, she had lived in Keyport and West New York before moving to Howell. Mrs. Carcich was a secretary in New York City for a short time before becoming a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Veronica’s Roman Catholic Church, Howell, and a former communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport, where she had been a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Her husband, Nicholas R. Carcich, died in 1989. Mrs. Carcich is survived by three sons, Robert Carcich of Eatontown, Nicholas Carcich of Kearny, and Anthony Carcich of Holmdel; a daughter, Mary-Ann Metzger of Howell; a sister, Ann Lettich of Red Bank; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Joseph’s Church, followed by entombment at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum, Keyport.
