EDNA HIGGINS HOLTZ, 81, of Freehold Township died June 16 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Marlboro, she was a lifelong resident of the Freehold area. She was employed at the Fort Monmouth Personnel Department from 1941-49. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, and a member of Court No. 737 Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She is survived by her husband, Ernest J. Holtz; two sons, Christopher J. Holtz of Freehold Township and Craig J. Holtz of Lakehurst; two daughters and a son-in-law, Ellen Kenny of Freehold Township and Eileen Beesley and Philip of Spring Lake Heights; a sister, Jeannette Thompson of Shrewsbury; and five grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Marlboro. CATHERINE HOWE, 82, of Manalapan, died June 16 at The Manor, Freehold Township. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., she lived in Hoboken and Freehold before moving to Manalapan two years ago. She was coordinator of volunteers for the Manalapan Senior Center, the RSVP Group, the Division of Youth and Family Services, St. Mary’s Hospital in Hoboken, and CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township. She was predeceased by her husband, John J., in 1987. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Anthony Sirignano of Manalapan, and Beverly and Anthony Lombardi of Freehold; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
ALLAN JESSURUN, 58, of Manalapan died June 18 at home. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he lived in Marlboro for 20 years before moving to Manalapan two years ago. He was the manager of Cohen’s Babyland in Manalapan. He was a graduate of Long Island (N.Y.) University. He was predeceased by a son, Brett, in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Eileen; a daughter, Heather; and a sister, Carolee Forst of the Morganville section of Marlboro. Cantor Wayne Siet officiated at the funeral service. Interment
was private.
MARY T. GRASBERGER, 77, of Freehold Township died June 19 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in South Amboy, she moved to Freehold Township in 1929. In 1961 she moved to Southern Pines, N.C., and returned to Freehold in 1972. She was a judiciary clerk for the state of New Jersey Probation Department for the past 19 years. Prior to that, she was employed by CETA, Freehold; the Pinehurst Hotel, Pinehurst, N.C.; and the former A&M Karagheusian Rug Mill, Freehold. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold; a member of Jednota Branch No. 59, South Amboy; and a member of the Emperors Club, Atlantic City. She also was active in Monmouth County ARC. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul J. Grasberger, in 1991; and a son, Paul J. Jr., in 1999. Surviving are three daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon Grasberger of Troy, N.C., Marianne Grasberger, at home, and Janet and Andrew Koloski of Freehold Township; a daughter-in-law, Myrtle Grasberger of Shelbyville, Ky.; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Jacqueline Tabacsko of Freehold Township; a sister, Anne Coyne of Freehold Township; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church. ZBIGNIEW "JACOB" SWISTAK, 58, of Sayreville, died June 8 at home. Surviving are his wife, Gabriela Kantowska Swistak; a son, Steven Swistak of Manalapan; a daughter, Cathy Mastorio of the Parlin section of Sayreville; two brothers, Konrad Swistak of Poland and Stanley Swistak of Spotswood; a sister, Zofia Koper of Poland; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Stanislaus Church, Sayreville. Interment

ANNA T. ASKIN, 86, of Freehold Township died June 10 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y, she had lived in Ridgewood, Queens, N.Y., before moving to Freehold Township in 1993. Mrs. Askin was a secretary for F&S Central, Green Point, N.Y., for 10 years, retiring in 1982. She was a retired 30-year member of the Rosary Altar Society of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Queens, N.Y.; and a member of the Freehold-Manalapan Area Senior Citizen Center. Mrs. Askin was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, who died in 1966. Surviving are two daughters, Clara Askin and Ann Lando, both of Freehold; a sister and brother-in-law, Teresa and Victor Silvani of Queens; a grandson; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, followed by interment at St. John’s Cemetery, Queens.
DAWN M. BECHTOL, 28, of Howell died June 11 at home. Born in Long Branch, she had lived in Eatontown, Howell, and Freehold Township before moving back to Howell. Miss Bechtol was an overnight stock clerk at Wal-Mart, Howell and North Brunswick, and was recently awarded "Employee of the Month." She was a graduate of Freehold Township High School. Miss Bechtol is survived by her parents, Rosemary Wilson of Freehold Township and Garry Bechtol of Ocean Grove; a daughter, Jessica, at home; a sister, Tina Bechtol of Barnegat; her maternal grandmother, Leone L. Wilson of Howell; a niece; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services were officiated by the Rev. Harvey Kelley. Interment

CLAUDINE H. PICORIELLO, 53, of Freehold Township died June 11 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., she lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Freehold Township 13 years ago. Ms. Picoriello worked as an ophthalmologist technician at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Queens, N.Y. Surviving are two sisters, two aunts, an uncle, and several cousins and friends. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn.
TERRY SHAPIRO, whose son lives in Manalapan, died June 11 at Virtua Memorial Medical Center, Mount Holly, after a brief battle with cancer. Mrs. Shapiro worked for many years at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in East Orange and was the head bookkeeper at the Belle Mead office of the federal government, from which she retired in 1985. She was a member of Adeth Emmanuel Synagogue in Mount Laurel; a former president of B’nai B’rith in Union; and volunteers for many other causes including the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Virtua Memorial Medical Center, Hadassah Sisterhood, and local nursing homes where she conducted Friday night services. In 2002 she was voted Woman of the Year for Hadassah. Mrs. Shapiro was predeceased by her husband, Nathan, in 1981. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Ellen Shapiro of Bedford, N.H., Jeffrey and Nita Shapiro of Manalapan, and Dr. Barry and Carol Shapiro of Vineland; and eight grandchildren. A graveside ceremony was held at Beth Israel Memorial Cemetery, Woodbridge.
LILABY "DANNY" WARREN, 63, of Manalapan died June 11 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Long Branch, he was a lifelong resident of Manalapan. Mr. Warren was a financial analyst for IBM, Dayton, where he was employed for 28 years before his retirement 10 years ago. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of Faith Fellowship Ministries, Sayreville. He was a licensed mentor for the mentor Network of New Jersey and a member of the Walter J. Conley Elks Lodge No. 1379, Freehold. Mr. Warren is survived by his wife, Diane Ryols Warren; a son, Darrand Ryols of Lakewood; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Gregory Galloway of Cheltenham, Md.; a sister, Rosetta Vaughn of Cliffwood Beach; and four grandchildren. The viewing and services were held at Bethel A.M.E. Church, Freehold, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.
