George J. Betz
Mr. Betz, 85, of Shrewsbury, died May 31 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jersey City, he resided in Wayne and Toms River for 20 years before moving to Shrewsbury. Before his retirement in 1986, Mr. Betz was a purchasing manager at the Great A&P; Tea Co., Montvale, for 44 years. He served with the U.S. Army Medical Administrative Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Toms River. Mr. Betz is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ryan Betz; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Eileen Betz of Middletown, and Richard and JoAnn Betz of Fairport Harbor, Ohio; a sister, Ann Elliott of Old Bridge; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. was celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, followed by entombment at Ocean County Memorial Park Cemetery, Toms River. The John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements. Milton "Milt" D. Caffyn
Mr. Caffyn, 69, of Eatontown, died May 25 at St. Barnabas Hospice at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Long Branch, he resided in Eatontown most of his life. He was a senior staff member at JCP&L;, Allenhurst, for 38 years, retiring in 1994. He was a life member of the Eatontown Fire Department and First Aid Squad. He was also a member of the Eatontown Zoning Board, and Masonic member of Navesink Lodge No. 9, Red Bank. He enjoyed fishing, golf and gardening, and was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers. He was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Kirbey. He is survived by his wife, Joyce C. Van Brunt Caffyn; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Mary Caffyn of Forked River, and David M. and Lisa Caffyn of Eatontown; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Edgar C. Caffyn of Oceanport, William C. and Barbara Caffyn of Mays Landing, and Michael D. and Anne Caffyn of Oceanport; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Interment

Agnes VanBrunt
Mrs. VanBrunt, 90, of Shrewsbury, died May 25 at Bridgeway Care Center, Bridgewater. Born in Scotland, she resided in Shrewsbury since 1964. She was a 20-year member of the Shrewsbury First Aid Squad. She was a 70-year member and past matron of the Order of Eastern Star Molly Pitcher Chapter No. 198. She was also a member of the Shrewsbury Senior Homesteaders. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth VanBrunt; and three brothers, Herbert, Arthur and George Cotgreave. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Charles LoBianco of Martinsville; four grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Brian E. "Mac" McCaffrey
Mr. McCaffrey, 65, of Old Bridge, died May 29 at home. Born in New York City, he resided in Middletown and Red Bank, prior to moving to Old Bridge 2 1/2 years ago. He was a soap technician at International Flavors and Fragrances, Union Beach, for 26 years, retiring this year. He served with the U.S. Navy during Peacetime. He played softball for Middletown, Red Bank and Triboro Softball Leagues, and enjoyed casinos. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Belle Conway. He is survived by his wife, Doreen Sullivan McCaffrey; two sons, Lance McCaffrey of Malaga, and Scott McCaffrey of Cape May; a daughter, Robin McMahon of Brick; two brothers, Rob Graham of Asbury Park, and Joe Graham, serving with the U.S. Marines in Iraq; and five grandchildren. Grace Woodhead Field
Mrs. Field, 78, of Little Silver, died May 19 at home. She resided in Fair Haven 46 years, prior to moving to Little Silver eight years ago. She was co-founder in 1963 and a retired teacher at Tower Hill Cooperative Nursery School, Red Bank. She was an active 64-year member of Red Bank First Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Associate of Presbyterian Women and active in its Mary Circle. She was a volunteer at Fair Haven Public Library, and Mothers of Pre-Schoolers. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Alan "Jake" Field; two sons and daughters-in-law, Alan "Ruddy" and Catherine Grover Field of Atlantic Highlands, and Thomas and Jae Soon Field of Santiago, Chile; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Jack Reynolds of Cohasset, Mass.; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at First Presbyterian Church. Interment

Anne Hutchinson Terhune
Mrs. Terhune, 80, of Highlands, died May 23 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Morristown, she resided in Highlands since 1983. She taught at the Marine Academy of Science and Technology, Sandy Hook. She was a member of and sung in the choir at United Methodist Church of Red Bank. She was the founder in 1984 of the Monmouth Chapter of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. Her memberships included the Highlands Garden Club, and Community Singers. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, E. Malcolm "Ted" Terhune; a son and daughter-in-law, Ltc. (R) William A. and Linda Terhune of Atlanta; a daughter and son-in-law, Christine H. Terhune and David Sampson of Morristown; a sister, Stella H. Kennedy of Towson, Md.; and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be June 4 at 2 p.m. at United Methodist Church of Red Bank. Doris Marie Gallagher
Mrs. Gallagher, 83, of Brick, died Jan. 16 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Hoboken, she was formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y., and had resided in Brick for 27 years. Prior to retiring, she was employed as a medical assistant for Dr. Murray Krone in Brooklyn for 20 years. She was a member of the Breezy Point Surf Club, Far Rockaway (Queens), N.Y.; a former president of the Greenbriar Bowling League, Brick; and a volunteer at the former Point Pleasant Hospital. She was also an active member of JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s Vestive Vultures, of which her husband was one of the founding fathers. Mrs. Gallagher was predeceased by her husband, William Gallagher, in 1987; a son, William Gallagher Jr.; and a son-in-law, James Camilleri in 2000. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Diane Camilleri, and Doris and Michael Buhler of Tinton Falls; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, followed by interment at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, N.Y.
Steven Gosewisch
Mr. Gosewisch, 51, of Ocean Township, died Jan. 12 at home. Born in Flushing, N.Y., he resided in Denville, and the Elberon area of Long Branch prior to moving to Ocean Township. He was a music teacher at Howell High School for 30 years, and recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award in 1992. He was also associate conductor of the Monmouth Symphony Orchestra. He was a member of the New Jersey Music Educators Association, and New Jersey Educators Association. He was predeceased by his mother, Helene in 1972. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Arthur and Rae Gosewisch of Wilmington, N.C.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Carol and Andrew Strayer of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Barbara Gosewisch of Lake Hopatcong; and one nephew. A funeral service was at Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church. Interment

Aram S. Yezdanian
Mr. Yezdanian, 70, of Red Bank, died Feb. 6 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a sales representative at Cooperative Communications for five years. Prior to that, he was a marketing manager at S & H Green Stamps, Edison, for 16 years. He was a deacon and choirmaster at St. Stepanos Armenian Church, Elberon section of Long Branch. He is survived by his wife, Ethel Yezdanian; and two daughters and sons-in-law, Arlene and Tom Heitman of Holmdel, and Lori and Lou Lombardi of the Lincroft section of Middletown. Theresa C. “Tessie” Ferro
Mrs. Ferro, 94, of Red Bank, died Jan. 28 in Red Bank. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had been a resident of Red Bank for the past 77 years. Mrs. Ferro was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. She was predeceased by her husband of 75 years, William Ferro; three sisters, Catherine Embry, Pauline Wolcott and Eleanor Woodward; and a brother, George DeLorenzo. Mrs. Ferro is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Rosemarie and Joseph McDonald of Red Bank, Filomena and John Josko of Ocean Township, and Theresa Mafara of Brick; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Louis and Mary DeLorenzo of Red Bank, and Anthony DeLorenzo of the River Plaza section of Middletown; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
