JEFFREY MICHAEL WILLIAMS, 42, of Manalapan Township died Feb. 20 at home. He was born in Perth Amboy and had lived in Marlboro Township most of his life before moving to Manalapan Township three years ago. He was a graduate of Marlboro High School and attended Thomas Edison College and the Rutgers School of Engineering, Piscataway. He was a graduate of the Middlesex County Police Academy and he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, New Brunswick. He was a corrections officer for the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department in Freehold for the past eight years. Prior to that, he was a security officer for Johnson and Johnson for eight years and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for ten years, both in New Brunswick. He was a member of the Policemen’s Benevolent Association and a union delegate. He was predeceased by a brother, Gregory, in 1985, and a grandfather, Andrew Seaman, in 1998. Surviving are his parents, Jack and Nancy Seaman Williams, Marlboro Township; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Thomas Williams of San Francisco, Calif., and Brian and Brenda Williams of Williamsville, N.Y.; and his maternal grandmother. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church in Marlboro. LAWRENCE THOMAS BAGGITT, 58, died Feb. 13 in Klamath Falls, Ore. Born in Neptune, he lived in Freehold until 1960. After graduating from Freehold Boro High School, he moved to Southern Pines, N.C., where his parents had moved when the A&M Karaghusian rug mill relocated there. In 1973, he moved to Covina, Calif., then to Klamath Falls, Ore. He is survived by his wife, Jeanice; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert John and Vicki Baggitt of Springfield, Ore.; a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph J. and Barbara Baggitt Jr., of Derry, N.H.; a sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Victor April, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
BLANCHE BRIANO, 76, of Howell Township died Feb. 19 at Bartley Healthcare, Jackson Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived in Howell since 1995. She was a matron for National Cleaning Contractors Inc., New York City, where she was employed for 17 years before her retirement in 1992. She was predeceased by her husband, Alphonso Briano, in 1972. Surviving are a daughter, Candida Broderick of Marlboro Township; a sister, Lena Perullo of Marlboro Township; and two grandsons. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Gabriel’s Church in Marlboro, followed by interment at Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, N.Y.
GALEN TARBOX, 67, of Jackson Township died Feb. 18 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Gray, Maine, and lived in Englishtown before moving to Jackson Township in 1972. He was an owner and operator of TBS Farms, Jackson Township. He was predeceased by a brother, Bobby Tarbox, and a sister, Donna Morgan. Surviving are two foster sons, Randy Hinds and Bobby Fay, and several nieces and nephews.
RICHARD J. BECKER, 35, of Manalapan died Feb. 18 at South Amboy Hospital, South Amboy. Born in Detroit, Mich., he had lived in Manalapan since 1968. He was a graduate of Manalapan High School and Villanova University, Villanova, Pa. He was a communicant of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan, and a member of Prince of Peace Council No. 5903, Knights of Columbus, Englishtown. Surviving are his parents, Wendel and Dolores Becker, with whom he lived; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul Becker of Vermont and Bette Becker of Freehold, Wendel and LuAnn Becker of Manalapan, and Peter and JoAnn Becker of Manalapan; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dolores and Thom Farese of Spring Lake, and Liz and Gary Higley of Manalapan; sixteen nieces and nephews; a great nephew; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent. MARIE VESVRES TOMLINSON, 70, of Freehold Township died Feb. 17 at home. Born in Canada, she lived in France for several years before moving to the U.S. in 1939. She lived in Seattle, Chicago, and Atlantic City, Millville, Brick, and Neptune before moving to Freehold 30 years ago. She graduated from Atlantic City High School and attended Trenton State College, now The College of New Jersey, Ewing. She worked for the Atlantic City Electric Co. and at Bamberger’s in Eatontown. She was also a volunteer for the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services. Surviving are her husband, John W. Tomlinson; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carole and Terrence Roche of London, and Gail Tomlinson of Freehold; a sister, Louise Gilbert; a grandson; a niece; and two nephews. CLOTILDE NEGRON, 71, of Freehold died Feb. 15 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Toa Alto, Puerto Rico, she moved to Freehold 40 years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, Francisco, in 1980. Surviving are a son, Luis Negron of Toms River; two daughters, Carmen Negron and Zaida Ortiz; four sisters in Puerto Rico; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The viewing will be held at Iglesia Pentecostal Church, 66 Center St., Freehold, today from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the church tomorrow from 9-11 a.m., followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.
THOMAS F. MURPHY JR., 77, of North Brunswick died Jan. 28 at home. Born in Medford, Mass., he resided in Hillsborough before moving to North Brunswick 48 years ago. He owned and operated Thorn’s Piano Tuning and Repair. He was also a manager at Pepsi Cola, North Brunswick and Ocean, for more than 30 years, retiring in 1988. He served with the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a communicant of St. Mary of Mount Virgin Roman Catholic Church, New Brunswick. An avid trumpet player, he and his wife played in the Pete Mundi Orchestra for 25 years. His memberships included the American Federation of Musicians Local No. 204, and the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks No. 324, both New Brunswick. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann Mundi Murphy of North Brunswick; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Jane Murphy of Howell, and William and Susan Murphy of Hampton; a daughter, Judy Donnelly of North Brunswick; a sister and brother-in-law, Noreen and John Czahor of Clearwater, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Mary of Mount Virgin Roman Catholic Church, New Brunswick. Burial was at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick. GERTRUDE M. HAYDEN BOWIE, 80, of the Melrose section of Sayreville died Jan. 25 in Holmdel Convalescent Center. Her husband, Ennis Bowie, died in 1980. Surviving are three daughters, Kathleen Crowley of Manalapan, Eugenia Kellett of Sayreville and Jane Bowie of Melrose; two brothers, James Hayden of Brick and Ronald Hayden of Middletown; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary’s Church, South Amboy. Interment
was in New Calvary Cemetery, Sayreville.
MARIA M. DINAPOLI, 90, of Jackson, died Feb. 2 at Bartley Health Care, Jackson. Born and raised in Manila, Philippines, she immigrated to the United States in 1947 to San Francisco, then moved to New York City in 1948. She moved to Howell in 1987, to Freehold in 2000 and to Jackson in 2001. She was a legal secretary for 20 years, working for various employers until retirement in 1986 with Evelyn Lawrence, Esq. She was a former parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Farmingdale, and St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township. She was a former member of the Howell Friendship Club; the Founders Club of Monmouth Crossing, Freehold; Surrey Downs Social Club, Howell; the Allegretto Club, Brooklyn, N.Y.; and the CentraState Auxiliary, Freehold Township. She was predeceased by her husband Bob in 1999. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Louis and Anne DiNapoli of Freehold Township; one stepson and step daughter-in-law, Dr. Robert A. and Joan deNapoli of Rye, NY; and two grandchildren. A funeral mass was held at St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.
