Mary Hoag Hinck
Mrs. Hinck, 88, of Monmouth Beach, died April 27 at home. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond T. Hinck in 1984; and three sisters, Mary M. Tierney, Janet Kemp and Rosalind I. Hoag. She is survived by five daughters, Ann H. Friel of Tinton Falls, Alice F. Hinck of Monmouth Beach, Cathy McManus of Lambertville, Joan M. Willard of Syracuse, N.Y., and Jean "GiGi" Hager of Monmouth Beach; three sons, R. Thomas Hinck of Encinitas, Calif., Peter J. Hinck of Virginia Beach, Va., and Philip J. Hinck of Long Branch; a brother, William H. Hoag of Highlands; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass was celebrated at Church of the Precious Blood, Monmouth Beach. Roberta Whitney Eustace
Mrs. Eustace, 74, of Manalapan, died May 3 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born and raised in Norwalk, Conn., she had lived in Inwood, N.Y., before moving to Manalapan more than 36 years ago. Mrs. Eustace was employed by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, Freehold, for 25 years before retiring as a supervising legal stenographer in 2001. She was a communicant of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan. She was predeceased by four sisters, Verna Sargent, Inez Mislan, Joan McLaughlin and Eva Veilleus. Mrs. Eustace is survived by a son, Robert Eustace of Manalapan; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Maureen and Bryan McLaughlin of Sunrise, Fla., Susan and Mark Regan of Eatontown, and Ellen Eustace of Iselin; a sister, Patricia Booth of Bethel, Conn.; four grandchildren; and several nephews, nieces and friends. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Thomas More Church, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. The Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.
Joan Agnes Taylor
Mrs. Taylor, 79, of Freehold, died May 2 at her daughter's home in Freehold Township. Born in Jersey City, she had lived there before moving to Freehold five years ago. Mrs. Taylor worked for more than 20 years for the Department of Labor, and was an appeals judge for the department's Disability Insurance Division in Newark at the time of her retirement. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Taylor, in 1999. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Joanne Taylor of Tinton Falls, and Glenn and Diane Taylor of Brick; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Ron Segan of Bergenfield, and Maureen and Drew Kyne of Freehold Township; and six grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. Caroline Anne Gannon
Caroline Anne Buchakowski Gannon, 99, of Long Branch, died April 11 in Long Branch. Born in Syracuse, N.Y., she resided in Tucson and San Diego, before retiring to the Jersey Shore. She attended St. Lucy's High School, Rochester. When she was teenager, she lost both parents, and raised four younger brothers. In 1933, she eloped with Edward Gannon, a grid star and Realtor, and while he served in WWII, she paid off the mortgage. When he was told, he threw his Army cap in the air and whirled her around their living room. She was a seamstress for Learbrury Clothes and a saleswoman and notary for Gannon Realty. She was a kind, energetic person, and very religious. She practiced the art of mischief for 100 years. She was predeceased by her husband and her brothers, Francis, Stanley, Peter and Paul. She is survived by several nieces and nephews; and her daughter, Judith Gannon of Long Branch, who believes on the afternoon of April 11, Ed Gannon threw his cap in the air. A funeral service was at Holy Cross Church, Syracuse, N.Y., followed by burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Syracuse. Arrangements were by Farone & Son, Syracuse.
John Kowalski
Mr. Kowalski, 85, of Freehold Township, died May 9 at St. Barnabas Hospice, Long Branch, after a battle with kidney disease. Born in Bayside, N.Y., he moved to Freehold Township in 1929. Mr. Kowalski worked as an apprentice weaver in the A & M Karagheusian rug mill from 1939 to 1942, when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served on the USS LCI 346 as a motor machinist and was stationed at various ports throughout the Pacific Ocean during World War II. After the war, he briefly continued his employment at the rug mill and later became a career salesman. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. Mr. Kowalski was predeceased by his wife, Helen, in 1999, after 52 years of marriage. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Gerard and Shannon Kowalski, and three grandchildren, all of Monmouth Beach; a brother, Teddy Kowalski of Santa Barbara, Calif.; a sister, Jean DeVito of Groton, Conn.; and several nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. Anthony V. "Bud" Rumolo
Mr. Rumolo, 84, of Rumson, died May 12 at home. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., he resided in West Brighton, Staten Island, prior to moving g to Rumson in 1962. He was a pension consultant at Actuarial Ideas, Rumson. Prior to that, he was a vice president at Manhattan Life Insurance Company, New York City. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, and received the American Campaign, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, and a Victory Medal. He was also a liaison officer at the Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo., during the 60s. He was former chairman of the Richmond County Boy Scouts Association, and inducted into the Order of the Arrow. He was a member and past president of Charter Life Underwriters Association of Monmouth County. He was predeceased by a brother, Nicholas Rumolo; and a sister, Vera Rigali. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jane M. Fredericks Rumolo; two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward "Ed" and Lynn of Little Silver, and David and Donna of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter and son-in-law, Jayne and Keith of New York City; a sister, May Ferrari of the Lincroft section of Middletown; and one granddaughter. A Memorial Mass will be May 20 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson. Arrangements are by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Marjorie Frederickson Broten
Mrs. Broten, 82, of Rumson, died April 9 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Wethersfield, Conn., she was a 50-year resident of Rumson. She was a homemaker, and volunteered on various school committees for her children. She enjoyed golf, boating and the beach. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Robert. She is survived by three sisters, Elizabeth Lobdell of Illinois, Grace Johnson of Pennsylvania and Ottolee Palmer of Florida; a son, Jeffrey Broten of Rumson; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lynn Broten of Highlands, Judy and Andre Land of Boca Raton, Fla., and Diane and Michael Galbavy of Little Silver; and six grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was held at Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. Arrangements were by Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank.
Olga D. Steen
Mrs. Steen, 89, of Tinton Falls, died May 11 at home. Born in Southbridge, Mass., she resided in Massachusetts, and Ohio, prior to moving to Tinton Falls two years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Lay Order of Franciscans, and a hospital volunteer. She enjoyed time with her family. she was predeceased by her husband, John A. Steen in 1992; and a sister, Louise Gibson. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia L. Steen and William Frankenstein of Little Silver, and Carol Steen and Robert Akerley of Wolfeboro, N.H.; a son, John A. Steen Jr. of Hyannis, Mass.; a brother, George D. Dumas of Southbridge, Mass.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Arrangements were by Sansoucy Funeral Home, Southbridge. Bernard A. "Bud" Dupree II
Mr. Dupree, 69, of Fair Haven, died May 20 in Red Bank. Born in Saranac Lake, N.Y., he resided in Little Silver, prior to moving to Fair Haven 46 years ago. He was a Life Member, former Fire Chief, past captain three times, exempt member, past treasurer, and past president of Fair Haven Fire Company, which he joined in 1962. He was a communicant of and was a vestry member at Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion, Fair Haven. He founded in 1996 and was a member of the Mid-Monmouth Fire Police Association, and was a member of the New Jersey State Fire Chief's Association, and NewJersey State Fire Police Association. He served on the Fair Haven Board of Education 27 years, and was a former member of the Red Bank Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs. He was predeceased by a brother, Brad Dupree. He is survived by his wife, Ann Harvey Dupree; three sons and daughters-in-law, Tripp and Maureen Dupree of Rumson, Jeffrey E. and Nancy Dupree of Madison, and Chris and Stephanie Dupree of Neptune City; two stepdaughters, Kathy Ferrigno of Park City, Utah, and Linda and her husband Alex Davis of Gloucester, N.C.; a stepson, John McQueen of Norton, Va.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Paul Dupree, and John and Debra Dupree, all of Long Branch; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Robert P. “Bob” Wolf Sr.
Mr. Wolf, 54, of Oceanport, died Jan. 8 at home. Born in Long Branch, he resided in Eatontown 20 years, prior to moving to Oceanport 12 years ago. He was an auto body mechanic at Royal Collision, Freehold. Prior to that, he owned A & B Auto Body, Eatontown, for several years. He was a member of Benevolent Protective Order of Elks No. 2402, Eatontown and named 2003 Elk of the Year. He enjoyed stock car racing, and was a 1981 Turkey Derby winner at Wall Stadium. He was predeceased by his wife, Wendy H. Wolf in 2004. He is survived by his parents, Marie Tomaino Wolf and Fred Wolf Jr. of West Long Branch; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert P. Wolf, and Joseph C. and Tracy Wolf, all of Eatontown; a daughter and son-in-law, Jamie M. and Alex Raposo of Long Branch; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Fred and Barbara Wolf III of Eatontown, and Edward Wolf of Farmingdale; and four grandchildren. A funeral service will be Jan. 12 at 11 a.m. at Braun Funeral Home, Eatontown. Interment
