Rose M. Coughlin Sullivan
Mrs. Sullivan, 89, of Rochester, N.Y., formerly of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died Dec. 26 in St. Mary’s Hospice, Rochester. Her husband, William Francis, died in 1989. Surviving are five children, William F. Sullivan and Robert Sullivan, both of Rochester, Mary E. Felice of Sayreville, Margaret Sullivan of New Brunswick and Rosemary Kiel of Red Bank; and nine grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary’s Church, South Amboy. Interment
was in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Doris Karr
Mrs. Karr, 89, of Keansburg, died Dec. 27 at Bayside Manor, Keansburg. Born in Newark, she resided in Michigan and in Fair Haven for 55 years before moving to Keansburg. Before her retirement, Mrs. Karr was a secretary at Purolator Filter Co., Rahway. She was a 25-year member of the Riverview Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Red Bank. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Richard T. Karr, in 1988. Mrs. Karr is survived by a niece, Betsy Pecatelli of Warrentown, Va.; and two sisters-in-law, Donna Kibbey of Whittier, Calif., and Margaret James of Cathedral, Calif. A memorial gathering was held at the First Presbyterian Church, Shrewsbury. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
Victor J. Campi
Mr. Campi, 87, of Little Silver, died Dec. 18 at home. Born in Lakewood, he resided in Rumson, prior to moving to Little Silver in 1993. He was a retired state Medicare fraud investigator at the FBI, where he was employed for 30 years. He was an establishing member of the local chapter of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI. He served with the U.S. Marines during World War II. He was a communicant of and usher at Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. He was a member of the Fort Monmouth Officers’ Club, American Legion, and Knights of Columbus. He was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Kathleen; and five brothers, Pasquale, Paul, John, Rocco and Eddie Campi. He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Kasey and Charles Raines of Goshen, N.Y.; Marian and Michael Conde of Belle Terre, N.Y.; Diane and James Brunner of Rumson; Patricia and James Lyon of Southbury, Conn.; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Dr. Leonard and Maryanna Campi of Little Silver, and Lucille Campi of Spring Lake; and five grandchildren. Jeffrey Paul Pascarella
Mr. Pascarella, 46, of Lakewood, died Jan. 2 at home. Born in Lakewood, he had resided in Jackson for most of his life before moving to Lakewood two years ago. A graduate of Howell High School, he earned a bachelor of arts degree from Stockton State College (now The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey), Pomona section of Galloway, and his teacher certification from Georgian Court College (now University), Lakewood. Prior to retiring in 2000, he was employed by the East Windsor Board of Education as a social studies teacher for 14 years. He received the N.J. Teacher of the Year award and was a wrestling coach as well. Mr. Pascarella was a communicant of St. Veronica’s Roman Catholic Church, Howell, where he also volunteered. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas Pascarella, in May 2000. Surviving are a daughter, Leona Pascarella of Mount Holly; a son, Jeffrey Pascarella of Jackson; his mother, Leona Pascarella of Jackson; three brothers, Thomas Pascarella of Freehold, David Pascarella of Harrisonburg, Va., and Stephen Pascarella of Red Bank; and his former wife, Monica Pascarella of Jackson. The funeral liturgy was offered at St. Veronica’s Church, followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lakewood. The George S. Hassler Funeral Home, Jackson, was in charge of arrangements.
Antonio “Tony” Palendrano
Mr. Palendrano, 81, of Shrewsbury Township, died Jan. 3 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Red Bank, he resided in Shrewsbury Township the past 40 years. He was a retired truck driver at Shore Point Distributors, Little Silver, where he was employed 25 years. He attended St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He was an avid Giants fan, and enjoyed horseracing, and travel. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Everett “John” Page. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Andrea Nancy Steppe Palendrano; a son, Anthony Palendrano of Boynton Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Christina Palendrano of Bradley Beach; a sister, Angie Page of Red Bank; and two grandchildren. Cecelia Ann Stump Fahey
Mrs. Fahey, 57, of Springfield, Mass., and formerly Rumson, died Dec. 23 at home. Born in Long Branch, she resided in Springfield the past 32 years. She was a teacher for the City and Diocese of Springfield for 17 years, and a former teacher in Howell. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Springfield, and also served on the parish council. She was predeceased by her father, James D. Stump, and a sister, Helena Stump Burns. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, John M. Fahey; a daughter, Heather M. Fahey of Springfield, Mass.; a son, Seamus M. Fahey of Hawthorne; her mother, Helene Stump Clark of Red Bank; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Roger and Arlene Stump of Shrewsbury, James D. Stump of Newlin, N.C., and John and Linda Stump of Davidsonville, Md.; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Mary Gartland of Middletown, Christine and Jay Carhart of Rumson, Roberta Stump of Santee, Calif., Suzanne and Don Strohmenger of Atlantic Highlands, and Jean and John Dull of Amityville, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. Genevieve “Jean” Nicoletti
Mrs. Nicoletti, 94, of Red Bank, died Dec. 31 at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation, Red Bank. Born in Italy, she moved to the United States in 1913, and resided in Neptune and Asbury Park, prior to moving to Red Bank in 1938. She was employed at Bendix, Eatontown, for 42 yeas, retiring in 1976. She enjoyed bowling, and travel to Florida. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Nicoletti in 1986; two brothers, Sam Francese and Frank Ferrara; and three sisters, Jane Fariello, Carmella Calabro and Beatrice Ferrara. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Bernard C. and Josephine Nicoletti Sr. of Little Silver; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. William Thomas King
Mr. King, 78, of Red Bank, died Feb. 3 following a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born in New York City, he had been a resident of the Bayshore area for 30 years. Before his retirement, Mr. King was employed for 42 years by Tile Layers Helpers Union Local No. 88 and served on its executive board for several years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. King was a member and trustee of the Middletown Elks Club No. 2179 and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Mary, in 1989; and a granddaughter, Marirose Rieman, in 1990. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Susan of Atlanta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and William Kelly of Middletown, and Lori and Ed Rieman of Rumson; and seven grandchildren. Henry Slayback Miltenberger
Mr. Miltenberger, 79, of Little Silver, died Jan. 19 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in New York City, he resided in Middletown before moving to Little Silver in 1951. Mr. Miltenberger was a building contractor and owner of Little Silver Construction Co., retiring in 1998. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Little Silver, and a member of the American Littoral Society, Sandy Hook. He was predeceased by a brother, Eugene Miltenberger. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Miltenberger; two daughters and one son-in-law, Catherine and Peter Tamblyn of Little Silver, and Virginia Miltenberger of Little Silver; a sister, Lee Lloyd of Westerly, R.I.; a sister-in-law, Barbara Miltenberger of Fair Haven; a grandson; a sister-in-law; and a brother-in-law. Seymour “Red” Gitlin
Mr. Gitlin, 83, of Shadow Lake Village, Middletown, died Feb. 5 at Avante at Red Bank. Born in New Rochelle, N.Y., he resided in Fair Haven and Hillsdale before moving to Shadow Lake Village 20 years ago. Before his retirement, Mr. Gitlin was a comptroller for 25 years at Sales and Marketing Executives International, New York City. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Gitlin is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean H. Lenehan Gitlin; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert D. and Susan Gitlin of Dallas, Pa.; a daughter, Susan L. Gitlin of New York City; a brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Joyce Gitlin of South Carolina; and a grandson. Arrangements were by the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.
