HARRY N. GREENE, 75, of Hazlet died June 4 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in West New York, he resided there until moving to Hazlet 47 years ago. Mr. Greene was a senior systems designer for the Port Authority or New York and New Jersey for 36 years, retiring in 1987. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was one of the founders of St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel, where he was a communicant and member of the Usher Society. He was a member of the Hazlet Planning Board and a director of the Port Authority Retiree Association. Mr. Greene was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Greene. He is survived by his wife, Anne McDonald Greene of Hazlet; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Joanne Greene of Middletown, and Harry and Constance Greene of Gaithersburg, Md.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Rosemary and Stephen Nelson of Freehold, AnnMarie and Timothy Seely of Hazlet, and Laura Greene of Holmdel; and eight grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Benedict’s Church, followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
GARNER PRUITT SR., 70, of Middletown, died June 4 at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York City. Born in Homer, Ill., he resided in Rumson prior to moving to Middletown six years ago. He was a landscape gardener at Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School, Rumson, for 18 years. He served with the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and member of the Rumson Ramp Club. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann Olivadoti Pruitt in 1982. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Garner and Erika Pruitt Jr. of Middletown; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Patrick Leonard of Middletown, Linda A. and Larry Miller of Shark River Hills, and Jane and Gordon Johnsen of the Leonardo section of Middletown; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several siblings. DOROTHY BURDEN, 90, of Middletown, died June 8 at Bayshore Health Care Center, Holmdel. Born in Bloomfield, she resided in Belleville prior to moving to Middletown 47 years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer Burden in 1987. She is survived by five sons and four daughters-in-law, Roy and Kristina Burden of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, Charles and Mary Lou Burden of Red Bank, Kenneth and Mary Burden of the Lincroft section of Middletown, William and Anna Burden of the Leonardo section of Middletown, and Vincent Burden of Asbury Park; her daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and William Borden of Point Pleasant; her sister, Marion Hull of Clifton; her sister-in-law, Irene Schleicher of Toms River; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
SOPHIE "SUE" PARKS ABECKER, 65, of East Brunswick died May 31 in Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience, Philadelphia. Surviving are her husband, Robert Abecker; two daughters, Deborah Skomba of Branchburg and Cynthia Abecker of Manahawkin; three sons, Robert Abecker Jr. of East Brunswick, Michael Abecker of Jackson and Steven Abecker of Howell; a brother, William Parks of Pennsylvania; a sister, Eileen Ryan of the Belford section of Middletown; and six grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
SEAN M. ROCKAFELLOW, 20, of Middletown, died March 22 in Middletown. Born in Red Bank, he was a lifelong resident of Middletown. Mr. Rockafellow was a clerk at Danny’s Pizza II, Middletown. He was a communicant of Calvary Chapel Four Winds, Red Bank. He was a graduate of St. Rose High School, Belmar, where he also played on the basketball team. He was a member of the YMCA, Red Bank. Mr. Rockafellow is survived by his father, Donald Rockafellow of Middletown; his mother, Joanne Guarino Rockafellow of Middletown; and his maternal grandmother, Josephine Guarino of Freehold. A funeral service will be held March 26 at 10 a.m. at King of Kings Lutheran Church, Middletown. Burial will follow at Bay View Cemetery, Leonardo section of Middletown. JOSEPH JAMES SANTELLE, 85, of Oceanport died March 12 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Newark, he resided in Red Bank prior to moving to Oceanport. Mr. Santelle was employed at Blaisdell Lumber, Red Bank, for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and in the Naval Reserve for 40 years. He was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. His memberships included the Retired Officers Association, Naval Airship Association, and American Builders Association. He was predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Antoinette M. Alexander Santelle, in 1982. Mr. Santelle is survived by three daughters, Marilyn Lane of Keyport, Pamela Conklin of Oceanport and Jamie Kretsch of Eatontown; his brother, Dominick Santelle of Little Silver; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. James Roman Catholic Church. Interment

SARANTOS "STEVE" I. LEONTAKIANAKOS, 58, of Atlantic Highlands died March 14 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Piraues, Greece, he resided in Atlantic Highlands for the past three years. He was the former owner of Steve’s Catering, Atlantic Highlands, retiring after 15 years. He served as a sergeant with the Greek Merchant Marines. He was predeceased by his parents, Yianni and Domna Zariffi Leontakianakos. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia M. Leontakianakos of Atlantic Highlands; his son, John S. of Atlantic Highlands; his daughter, Donna Leontakianakos of Atlantic Highlands; his brother, Dimitrios of Greece; his sister, Georgia Mariolis of Matawan; and one granddaughter.
JAMES D. HUNTER, 72, of Hazlet died March 16 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Passaic, he resided in Clifton before moving to Hazlet 39 years ago. Mr. Hunter was a producer and director at WPIX Channel 11 Sports Yankees and MSG Network, New York, for 38 years, retiring in 1992. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Middletown, as well as the Naval Institute. Mr. Hunter is survived by his wife, Connie Mistretta Hunter of Hazlet; two daughters, Eileen Nicholl of Succasunna, and Constance Higgins of Union Beach; his son, James Hunter Jr. of Maryland; his brother, Thomas Hunter of Ringwood; his sister, Catherine McKenna of the Wayside section of Ocean Township; and five grandchildren. MARY TAMBURINI MAURER, 73, of Brick died March 18 at the Medical Center of Ocean County, Brick division. Born in New Brunswick, she resided in North Brunswick and Aberdeen before moving to Brick three years ago. She was a former communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, New Brunswick. She was predeceased by her first husband, Peter Tamburini, in 1970; and her second husband, Michael Maurer, in 1988. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Peter E. and Brenda Tamburini of Bethlehem, Pa., and Richard J. and Peggy Tamburini of North Brunswick; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lucy and William Albertson of Galloway Township, and Phyllis and Christopher Matseur of Brick; two brothers, Robert Aldrich of Brick, and Thomas Aldrich of New Brunswick; three sisters, Lucy Pellicane of Edison, Harriet "Peggy" Criss of Highland Park, and Jane Campion of North Brunswick; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, New Brunswick. Interment was at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick. CONCETTA L. "CONNIE" LONGETTE, 79, of Aberdeen died March 20 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Red Bank, she was a lifelong resident of Aberdeen. Mrs. Longette was a homemaker, and a saleswoman at Westridge Clothing, Keyport, for nine years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas J. Longette, in 1999; and a grandson, John Longette, in 2001. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Salvatore and Florence Longette of Middletown, Thomas and Elizabeth Longette of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Robert Longette of Aberdeen; two daughters and one son-in-law, Margaret Mathews of Holmdel, and Bernadette and Bill Spafford of Aberdeen; her sister, Ann Thompson of Long Branch; her sister-in-law, Christine Maletto of Shrewsbury; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. A funeral service was held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Entombment was at Holmdel Mausoleum, Holmdel.
