JOSEPH STORES SR., 83, of Sayreville died April 14 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. Prior to his retirement in 1980, he was employed as a chemical operator with Hercules Inc., Parlin section of Sayreville, where he worked for 42 years. His wife, Mariethel Latham Stores, died in 1988, and a daughter, Ruth Stores, died in 1999. Surviving are a son, Joseph Stores Jr. of Sayreville; two daughters, Daryl Hoffman of Middletown and Dawn Golembieski of Sayreville; four sisters, Mary Pence of Lakeland, Fla., Claire Reilly of South Amboy, Joan Kirk of Sayreville and Peggy Rusin of Warren; several nieces and nephews; and eight grandchildren. A liturgy of the word was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Interment
was in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
FRANCES A. TANSKI PODLESNY, 91, of Sayreville died May 1 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Her husband, Chester S. Podlesny, died in 1983; a son, Chester Podlesny, died in 1994; another son, Joseph Podlesny, died in 1993; and two grandsons, Kevin and David Podlesny, died in 1981. Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Betty Podlesny of Sayreville; a brother, Steve Tanski of Keyport; a sister, Stella Zablocki of Keyport; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Interment
was in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Sayreville.
JOSEPH J. BROSS JR., 48, of Old Bridge died May 13 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was employed as a meat cutter at Stop and Shop, Keyport. Surviving are his wife, JoAnna Vaniski Bross; two sisters, Patricia Nieratko of Sayreville and Ellen Novak-Viviano of Spotswood; a brother, John Bross of West Milford; a niece, Theresa Novak of Spotswood; and a great-niece. A Mass was offered at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sayreville. Interment
was in Rahway Cemetery.
ROBERT R. BRESS, 74, of Old Bridge and Matawan, died May 8 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in New York City, he resided in Staten Island, N.Y., prior to moving to the Old Bridge/Matawan area 7 years ago. He was an elevator starter in New York City for 14 years, retiring in 1986. Prior to that, he was a shipping clerk at Geisha Robe, and member of Union No. 32BJ, New York City, for 27 years. He is survived by his wife, Theresa Bress of Old Bridge; two sons, Robert Bress of Windsor, Conn., and Kevin Bress of Old Bridge; his daughter, Terri Smith of Old Bridge; his brother, Joseph Bress of Florida; his sister, Dorothy Henderson of Queens, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren. A mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Laurence Harbor. Interment

WILLIAM DOUGLAS KRAIS SR., 88, of Middletown died May 7 at Victoria Health Care Center, Matawan. Born in Jersey City, he had resided in Nutley for 26 years and in Toms River before moving to Middletown six years ago. Mr. Krais was a chauffeur at ITT Communications, Nutley, before his retirement. Prior to that, he was a driver at Dugan Bread Co., Jersey City, retiring in 1980. He was an active member of the Holy Name Society at St. Mary’s Church, Nutley. He was a member of the Old Guard and Bowling League at Silver Ridge, Toms River. Mr. Krais was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Ruth Mahan Krais, in 2000. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William and Roseanne Krais Jr. of Stirling; two daughters and one son-in-law, Joan Cafone of Union Beach, and Janet and Henry Schuren of Bryan Township; his sister, Ann Weinbrenner of Manahawkin; his brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Rose Marie Krais of Whiting; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Entombment was at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum, Toms River.
ARMAND BARBETTA, 81, of Matawan, died May 7 at Victoria House, Matawan. Born in the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen, he resided in Holmdel prior to moving to Matawan 10 years ago. He was a maintenance workers at NJ Bell Telephone, retiring 20 years ago. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie Barbetta; a brother, Augustine Barbetta; and his sister, Concetta Mancini. He is survived by his brother, Louis Barbetta; and several nieces and nephews. Interment
was at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet.
ELIZABETH "LILY" McLOUGHLIN HALEY of Middletown died May 5 at home. Born in Dublin, Ireland, she resided in Fair Haven for 30 years before moving to Shadow Lake, Middletown, one year ago. Mrs. Haley was a medical records supervisor at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, for 16 years, retiring in 1996. She was a communicant, cantor, Eucharistic minister, and member of the choir at the Church of The Nativity, Fair Haven. She enjoyed sewing, singing, acting and fashion designing. She was predeceased by two sisters, May Smart and Cathy Gallagher; and a brother, Edward McLoughlin. Mrs. Haley is survived by her husband of 49 years, James Haley of Middletown; her daughter, Bronwyn Haley of Clifton; her brother, James McLoughlin of San Francisco; three sisters, Carmel McLoughlin of Middletown, Joan Sweder of Red Bank, and Annie McLoughlin of Dublin, Ireland; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at the Church of The Nativity, Fair Haven. Interment
was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
RUTH L. GIBSON FITZGERALD of Old Bridge died June 2 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born in Hoboken, she resided there and Hazlet prior to moving to Old Bridge three years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Monmouth County. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell Fitzgerald, in 1974. She is survived by her children, Sharon and Bill Conroy of Gettysburg, Pa.; Kathleen and Don Drake of Hazlet; Nancy and John Calamusa of Old Bridge; Dennis and Nancy Fitzgerald of Farmingdale; and Thomas Fitzgerald of Old Bridge; her brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Barbara Bennett of Hamilton; and seven grandchildren. Visitation will be June 4 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered June 5 at 9:15 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
AUBREY TRAFORD CAMERON SR., 81, of Matawan died May 21 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. He was born in Fair Haven. Mr. Cameron was a retired welder and owned A.T. Cameron Inc., Middletown. Prior to that, he was the lead welder fabricator at Lockheed Electronics, Plainfield, for 32 years, retiring in 1984. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a Sea Bee from 1942-45. He was an avid fisherman. Mr. Cameron is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann McKinney Cameron of Middletown; two sons and daughters-in-law, Aubrey "Chuck" and Marcia Cameron Jr. of Middletown, and Mark and Joan Cameron of Matawan; two brothers, Robert Cameron and Norman Cameron; two sisters, Marian Mandia and Margaret Post; and three grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 19 Schoolhouse Road, Somerset 08873.
JOHANN HOLZER, 74, of the Elberon section of Long Branch died May 18 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Moedling, Austria, he immigrated to the United States in 1953 and resided in Red Bank prior to moving to Long Branch 50 years ago. He worked at the Senior Executive Service as Deputy Director for Architecture of the Joint Tactical Command Control and Communications Agency, Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, for 35 years, retiring in 1988. During his employment, he received the Secretary of the Army Outstanding Achievement Award and the Defense Communication Agency Exceptional Civilian Service Award. He had eight patents earned in communications fields, including one of the first in digital communications, and made several major contributions to the Army’s communications program. He was a parishioner at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, West End section of Long Branch. He was past president of its St. Vincent de Paul Society, and also taught adult Bible classes at the church. He is survived by his wife, Maria Kogelbauer Holzer of Elberon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas T. and Marita Holzer of Toms River, and Christian and Michele Holzer of Spring Lake Heights; two daughters and one son-in-law, Brigitte and David Perlstein of Washington Crossing, Pa., and Ingrid Holzer of Woodbridge; two sisters, Margarete Cajar of Germany, and Martha Satke of Austria; and five grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, West End. Interment
