MARGARET EGAN McCUE, 89, of Hazlet died May 24 at Regency Park Nursing Home, Hazlet. Born in Rumson, she was a lifelong resident prior to moving to Hazlet eight years ago. Mrs. McCue was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred McCue, in 1982. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Nora and Artie Connaughton of Matawan, and Mary McCue of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Richard McCue of Atlantic Highlands and Thomas McCue of West Long Branch; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
JOSEPH DeMAYO, 90, of Middletown died May 21 at Meridian Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Red Bank. Born in Lyndhurst, he resided in Nutley prior to moving to Middletown 25 years ago. He owned G&L Stewart Appliance Store, Kearny, for 48 years, retiring in 1981. He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He was a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge, Red Bank. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mildred Luberto and Theresa Magazino; and his brothers, Anthony DeMayo and Benjamin DeMayo. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Angelina Grillo DeMayo of Middletown; three daughters, Bernadette Hahn of Colts Neck, Doreen Aquino of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Caroline Bagna of Belmar; two sons, Dr. Joseph DeMayo of Clifton, and Gary DeMayo of Lake Hopatcong; three sisters, Anna Terrano of Lodi, Florence Edson of Paramus, and Judy Scancarella of Carlstadt; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. TERESA E. PARLOCK, 77, of Westlake, Ohio, formerly of Hazlet, died May 21 at the Lutheran Home, Westlake. born in Jersey City, she resided in Hazlet prior to moving to Westlake 2 1/2 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a member of both the Keyport Seniors and Hazlet Seniors. She was predeceased by her husband, George S. Parlock in 1991. She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert and Allyson Parlock of Aberdeen, and William Parlock of Maryland; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Thomas Brunkow of Sheffield Lake, Ohio; a sister, Beatrice Vander Leeuw of Wayne; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Entombment was at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum, Keyport.
ELIZABETH SZARO, 45, of Keyport, died May 21 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., she was an area resident for several years. She was a registered nurse at Bayshore Community Hospital the past 12 years. She was a communicant of Jesus the Lord Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was a graduate of Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown. She is survived by her parents, John and Julia Kneeshaw Hayes of Staten Island, N.Y.; her husband, Wayne Szaro of Keyport; a daughter, Alissa Szaro of Keyport; two sons, Wayne Szaro Jr. and Christopher Szaro, both of Keyport; six brothers, Thomas Hayes, John Hayes, William Hayes, Robert Hayes, Richard Hayes and James Hayes, all of Staten Island; a sister, Linda Pischke of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. ELEANOR A. BURKE, 98, of the Lincroft section of Middletown, died May 23 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Newark, she resided in Hillside prior to moving to Lincroft in 1979. She was a retired supervisor at Prudential Life Insurance Company, where she was employed 25 years. She was a member of St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft. She was predeceased by her husband, James J. Burke in 1974. She is survived by her son, Harry J. Burke of Roselle Park; her granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren. VINCENT F. NORTH SR., 81, of Hazlet died May 23 at home. Born in Jersey City, he resided there until moving to Hazlet 47 years ago. Mr. North was a bus operator at NJ Transit, Howell, for 34 years, retiring in 1987. He was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. North was predeceased by his wife, Veronica North, in 1987. He is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Bullock, Margaret Franco and Eileen Martinez; four sons, Joseph North, Christopher North, Vincent North Jr. and Thomas North; four sisters, Doris Hendricks, Joan Fallon, Marie de Sardi and Janet Haskins; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Burial was at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet.
AGOSTINA OLIVARI, 82, of Keyport died May 23 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Bergamo, Italy, she resided in the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen, and the Bronx, N.Y., prior to moving to Keyport four years ago. A homemaker, she was a member of the Aberdeen Seniors, and St. Clement’s Seniors, Matawan. She is survived by her husband, Domenico Olivari of Keyport; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Richard Grassis of Lavalette; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Katherine Olivari of Rockaway; a sister, Catherine Degano of Mamaroneck, N.Y.; a brother, Joseph Canova of Kissimmee, Fla.; and two grandchildren. CHARLES E. SEWELL, 86, of Middletown died May 24 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Baltimore, he resided in Middletown the past 50 years. Mr. Sewell was a clerk at the U.S. Postal Service, Middletown, for 10 years before retiring. Prior to that, he served 25 years in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of major. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179, Middletown; Knights of Columbus Vince Lombardi Council, Leonardo section of Middletown; and the Middletown Elks. Mr. Sewell was predeceased by his wife, Anna Sewell, in 1999. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Joanne Sewell of Atlantic Highlands; a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Fred Fuller of Wareham, Mass.; a brother and two sisters, Joseph Sewell, Florence Sewell and Fidelia Sewell, all of Baltimore; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
DOROTHY "DOTTIE" F. THEOBALD, 68, of Lakewood died May 25 at Gateway Care Center, Eatontown. Born in Jersey City, she resided in Middletown prior to moving to Lakewood. She was a retired customer service representative at United Counties Bank, Lincroft section of Middletown, where she was employed 18 years. She also worked part-time at Stern’s Department Store, Eatontown. She was a communicant of St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft, where she also volunteered for its annual fair. She enjoyed the beach, art, and travel. She is survived by her husband, Jerome J. Theobald of Lakewood; two sons and one daughter-in-law, William and Judith Theobald of New Jersey, and Jerome Theobald III of Florida; her daughter, Dorothy Ann Theobald of New Jersey; her sister, Roberta Anastasi of New Jersey; and one grandchild. THOMAS E. EAVES, 56, of Middletown died May 30 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Newark, he lived in the Port Monmouth section of Middletown before moving to Middletown several years ago. Mr. Eaves was a toll collector for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority for 20 years, retiring in 1998. Prior to that, he worked for the Middletown Board of Education for one year. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was predeceased by his parents, Earnest Eaves and Elizabeth McKinney. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Carmela Lenzo Eaves of Middletown. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Catherine’s Church, Middletown. Entombment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
