THOMAS FEE, 80, of the Belford section of Middletown, died Jan. 24 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Cavan, Ireland, he moved to the United States in 1948 and resided in Queens, N.Y., prior to moving to Belford in 1970. Mr. Fee was a telephone repairman at New York Telephone/NYNEX, Queens and Staten Island, N.Y., for 33 years, retiring in 1980. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Mr. Fee was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Quinn Fee, in 1997; six brothers, Patrick, Terence, Philip, Peter, Owen and Michael Fee; and four sisters, Mary Lee, Bridget McManus, Sister Patricia Julie, and Ann Fee. He is survived by a sister, Susan Maguire of Fermanagh, Northern Ireland; and 38 nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
HAROLD NEWMAN DeGROAT JR., 77, of Middletown died Dec. 4 at home. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., he resided in the Belford section of Middletown for 13 years, prior to moving to Middletown 31 years ago. He was a vice president at Newark Boxboard Company for 25 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Hazlet. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II during the Battle of the Bulge, and received the Bronze Star. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179, Port Monmouth section of Middletown. He was predeceased by his sister, Anne DeGroat, and his brother, Robert DeGroat. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sonja Nybro DeGroat of Middletown; his daughter, Karen Mikulka of Middletown; his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Kenneth and Janet DeGroat of Keyport; and four grandchildren. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
RONALD W. DRAGER, 57, of Hazlet died Jan. 20 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Jersey City, he resided there before moving to Hazlet 29 years ago. He was a refrigeration mechanic and longshoreman for Sea Land and Local 1804, Elizabeth. He was predeceased by his parents, May and Theodore Drager. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen A. Sirotnak Drager of Hazlet; two daughters, Sandra Drager and Barbara Drager, both Hazlet; a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Denise Drager of Hazlet; a brother, Theodore Drager of Lyndhurst; and five grandchildren. Visitation will be Jan. 22 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Interment
will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
LORETTA M. HALEY, 78, of Keyport died Jan. 20 at McCarrick Care Center, Somerset. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided there prior to moving to Keyport 75 years ago. She was the owner of Haley’s Florist, Keyport, for 15 years, retiring in 1988. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was a member of the Keyport Legion Singers. She was predeceased by her husband, William A. Haley in 1987. She is survived by two sons, William R. Haley of Piscataway, and Kenneth R. Haley of Dover, Ohio; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Jan. 22 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Jan. 23 at 9:15 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Interment

ORTRUDE H. "TRUDY" HOLLERING, 70, of the Lincroft section of Middletown, died Jan. 18 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided in Freehold, Holmdel and Union before moving to Lincroft. She was a retired executive administrative assistant at P.I.C., Asbury Park, and Red Bank. Prior to that, she was a legal secretary at Zager and Fuchs, Red Bank. She was an active member of the Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Tinton Falls, where she was involved with its choir, Craft Christians, and vacation Bible school. Her activities included thoroughbred horses, which she and her husband raised and raced. She was predeceased by her husband, L. Karl Hollering, in 1994. She is survived by her son, Kurt F. Hollering of West Long Branch; her daughter, Karen A. Hollering of Freehold; and one grandson. A funeral service will be held Jan. 22 at 10 a.m. at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church. ALADA McCULLOUGH, 71, of Atlantic Highlands died Jan. 20 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived there prior to moving to Atlantic Highlands 20 years ago. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and James Goeller of Hazlet. Visitation will be Jan. 22 from 9-10 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brooklyn.
PATRICIA SHANLEY MUHLON, 56, of Hazlet died Jan. 19 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, after a battle with cancer. Born in Queens, N.Y., she resided in Hazlet the past 30 years. She was a processing manager at Weichert Realtors, Middletown, for more than 15 years. She was a member of St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. She enjoyed time and travel with her family, singing, rooting for the Yankees, and the arts. She was predeceased by her parents, Alice and Marshall Brooks, and a sister, Maureen Lepre. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Frank Muhlon of Hazlet; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jodi Ann and David Altamura of Manalapan, and Trisha Muhlon of Red Bank; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Frank and Sheetal Muhlon of Holmdel, and Keith Muhlon of Hazlet; two sisters, her twin, Pamela Sanito of Lynbrook, N.Y., and Marsha Radcliffe of Tannersville, N.Y.; and four grandchildren. Visitation will be Jan. 22 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral gathering will be Jan. 23 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a funeral liturgy at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel.
WALTER GAJDZIS, 80, of Hazlet died Jan. 13 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jersey City, he resided there prior to moving to Hazlet 24 years ago. He was a truck driver for Nestlé’s, Secaucus, for 42 years, retiring in 1987. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. He was an avid bowler and a member of the Hazlet Senior Citizens. He was predeceased by his brother, Stanley Gajdzis, and his sister, Jean Gajdzis. He is survived by his wife, Frances Piszczatowski Gajdzis of Hazlet; his son, Walter Gajdzis Jr. of Matawan; and two grandsons. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Interment
was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
MARION C. HILBERT, 86, of Keansburg died Jan. 13 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Kearny, she resided in Middletown prior to moving to Keansburg six years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Hilbert in 1981. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen and Robert Knapp of Middletown, Evelyn and John Hickey of New Egypt, and Dolores and Daniel Anselmi of Middletown; her brother, John Ure of Oregon; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
KATHERINE M. DiPAULA, 52, of Middletown died Jan. 14 at home. Born in Jersey City, she resided in Middletown since 1972. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. She was predeceased by her parents, Fiore DiPaolo and Frances Rubino. She is survived by her brother, Basil DiPaula of Middletown. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Burial was at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
