NICHOLAS DOUGHERTY-JOHNSON, 24, of Tinton Falls died July 18 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Sierra Vista, Ariz., he resided in Hawaii prior to moving to Tinton Falls in 1991. Mr. Dougherty-Johnson was a 1998 graduate of Monmouth Regional High School, Tinton Falls. He worked at AmeriCore, Asbury Park, and volunteered at Ronald McDonald House, Long Branch, and the Food Bank, Asbury Park. He enjoyed basketball, dancing, chess, drawing, and Spanish music. He is survived by his parents, Dr. Samuel and Gervasia Victoria Johnson III of Tinton Falls; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Vickie and Timothy D. Young, and Juanita Dougherty, all of Bad Axe, Mich.; his paternal grandfather, Samuel T. Johnson Jr. of Pasadena, Calif.; his maternal grandmother, Henriette Martinez McGregor of Texas; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. ANDREW FRANCIS McDERBY, 83, of Little Silver died July 19 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Bayonne, he resided there and in Rumson prior to moving to Little Silver in 1972. Mr. McDerby was a tax accountant at Jersey Central Railroad, Philadelphia, for 44 years, retiring in 1986. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a parishioner of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, and a former parishioner and religious instruction teacher at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson. He enjoyed gardening, boating and woodworking. Mr. McDerby was predeceased by his wife, Georgina E. Maxham McDerby, in 2002; and a son, Capt. Thomas Brian McDerby, U.S.A.F.C., in 1986. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Andrew and Lori McDerby of Ovieda, Fla.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Mary Jeanne McDerby, and Patricia Ann McDerby and Richard Paprcka, all of Little Silver; a sister, Ann Nilan of Spotswood; and seven grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. James Roman Catholic Church, followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
JENNIE L. LISTA ZAMBRANO, 95, of Long Branch died July 10 at Virtua Berlin Hospital, Berlin. Born in Long Branch, she was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Zambrano was a legal secretary at the Supreme Court of Monmouth County, retiring 28 years ago. She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch, where she was a member of its Rosary Altar Society and Holy Trinity Seniors. She was predeceased by her husband, Patsy Zambrano, in 1958. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Zambrano of Brick and Janet Hunt of Somerdale; a sister, Lucille Azzaretto of Long Branch; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Interment
was at Mount Carmel Cemetery, West Long Branch. Arrangements were by Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch.
JEAN AUGUSTE AVEDIKIAN, 77, of Colts Neck died July 8 at the Victoria Heath Care Center, Matawan. Born in Marseilles, France, he lived in Rutherford before moving to Colts Neck in 1968. Mr. Avedikian was employed at Precision Hard Chrome Co., Rahway, for 35 years, retiring 14 years ago. He was a parishioner of St. Stepanos Armenian Church, Long Branch. He enjoyed time with his family and friends. Mr. Avedikian was predeceased by his wife, Pauline Manoogian Avedikian, in 2002. He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Mitchell and Donna Avedikian of West Long Branch, and Douglas Avedikian of Brick; a sister, Marie Balian of Canada; and two grandchildren. A funeral service was held at St. Stepanos Armenian Church, followed by interment at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport. Arrangements were by Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch.
ALLAN J. BLAKE, 66, of Long Branch died July 8 at home. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he resided in Westwood before moving to Long Branch 13 years ago. Mr. Blake was executive vice president of sales at Ultimate Display Industries, New York City, for eight years, retiring in 2001. He served with the U.S. Army National Guard. He is survived by his wife, Laurel; two sons, David and Larry; a daughter, Elise; his mother, Ida; a sister, Paula; and five grandchildren. JOSEPHINE ROSE ZIMMERMAN, 78, of the Lincroft section of Middletown, died July 9 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Elizabeth, she lived in Roselle before moving to Lincroft 46 years ago. Mrs. Zimmerman was employed at the Monmouth County Board of Social Services, Freehold, for 25 years before her retirement. She was an active parishioner and teacher of religious instruction for several years at St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft. She was a member and past president of the St. Ann Guild and was active in senior citizen groups. Mrs. Zimmerman was predeceased by her husband, Edward H. Zimmerman; and a granddaughter, Cynthia Gunther. She is survived by a son, Edward H. Zimmerman Jr. of Holmdel; three daughters, Patricia Ray of Middletown, Karen Busichio of Long Branch, and Joanne Zimmerman of Vineland; two sisters, Elizabeth Brady of Kenilworth, and Frances Brodin of Scotch Plains; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft, followed by interment at Holmdel Cemetery.
JOSEPH S. MINCHILLI, 60, of North Brunswick died April 21 at home. Born in Jersey City, he resided there before moving to North Brunswick 30 years ago. He was self-employed. Prior to that, he was a customer service representative in New York City, and worked in the collection department at various Fleet Bank branches. He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a communicant of St. Mary of Mount Virgin Roman Catholic Church, New Brunswick. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Soyka Minchilli of North Brunswick; his daughter, Elizabeth Minchilli of North Brunswick; his mother, Betty Impalli Minchilli of Ocean Township; and two sisters, Loretta Marchitto and Frances Cuthbert, both Ocean Township.
WALTER E. ROE, 88, of Monmouth Beach died June 18 at St. Barnabas Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Long Branch. Born in Long Branch, he resided in Kentucky before moving to Monmouth Beach several years ago. Mr. Roe was a security guard at Monmouth Park Racetrack, Oceanport, until 1997. Prior to that, he was superintendent of streets for Monmouth Beach, retiring in 1980. He served with the U.S. Army in the 12th Armored Division during World War II. He was an exempt fireman with the Monmouth Beach Fire Company for 67 years, serving as chief in 1947. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bernice Link Roe; a son, Ed Roe of Bradley Beach; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Joy and Robert Johnson of Monmouth Beach; a niece; and six grandchildren. PEGGY A. TIMIDAISKI, 69, of Colt Neck died June 20 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Newark, she had been a resident of Colts Neck for more than 50 years. Mrs. Timidaiski was an administrative assistant at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, for 25 years before retiring in January. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Colts Neck, where she was a member of the Martha and Mary Guild. She also was a member of the Colts Neck Seniors. Mrs. Timidaiski was predeceased by her husband, David W., in January. She is survived by her mother, Frances Landgraff of Shrewsbury; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David Timidaiski of Eatontown, and Joseph and Kathleen Timidaiski of Lawsonville, N.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and John Rener of Middletown; a sister, Audrey Norton of Onley, Va.; and two grandchildren. MARGARET H. LETTICH CARCICH, 90, of Howell died June 26 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Little Ferry, she had lived in Keyport and West New York before moving to Howell. Mrs. Carcich was a secretary in New York City for a short time before becoming a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Veronica’s Roman Catholic Church, Howell, and a former communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport, where she had been a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Her husband, Nicholas R. Carcich, died in 1989. Mrs. Carcich is survived by three sons, Robert Carcich of Eatontown, Nicholas Carcich of Kearny, and Anthony Carcich of Holmdel; a daughter, Mary-Ann Metzger of Howell; a sister, Ann Lettich of Red Bank; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Joseph’s Church, followed by entombment at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum, Keyport.
