Kathryn Lehner Johnson Huyck
Mrs. Huyck, 84, of Wall died Dec. 8 at home. Born in Lakewood, she had lived in Freehold before moving to Wall 22 years ago. She was a probation clerk at the Monmouth County Court House, Freehold, where she was employed for 37 years prior to retiring four years ago. She was a member of the Reformed Church of Freehold; a former chairwoman for the Charity Ball committee of CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, as well as a volunteer at the hospital’s gift shop; a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Neptune; and a volunteer for the former Monmouth County Organization for Social Service (MCOSS) shop in Manasquan. She was predeceased by her first husband, Frank Johnson, in 1995. Surviving are her husband, Edward Huyck; a daughter, Donna Johnson Owens Tave of Wall; three grandsons; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at The Church in Brielle, with Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, in charge of arrangements. Valerie S. Miller
Mrs. Miller, 87, of Freehold, died Dec. 8 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Stafford Springs, Conn., she had lived in Freehold since she was 11 years old and was a graduate of Freehold High School. Known for her flower gardening and care for abandoned animals, she developed a love for nature on a family farm in Freehold known as the Old Farm Manor. After World War II, part of the farmland was donated to the Borough of Freehold for veterans’ housing. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Dudley Miller IV, in 1998. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Dudley Miller V and Lea Miller; two sisters-in-law, Baroness Elizabeth von Bissing and Marion Mayer, both of Freehold; two grandchildren; two nieces; and several grandnieces and grandnephews. Funeral services were held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, with the Rev. Barbara Hicks, pastor of Hope Presbyterian Church in Lakewood, officiating. Interment
followed at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.
Michael "Jerry" Tuite
Mr. Tuite, 35, of Manalapan, died Dec. 6 in Narita, Tokyo, Japan. Born in Newark, he had lived in Manalapan most of his life. A professional wrestler known as "The Wall," he divided his time between the United States and Japan and was a communicant of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church in Manalapan. He was predeceased by his mother, Nancy. Surviving are his father, Jerome Tuite of Manalapan; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Steven Hacht of Pataskala, Ohio; an uncle, the Rev. Michael Feketie of Rahway; and his fiancée, Julie Scheel of Hoboken. A memorial Mass was offered at St. Thomas More Church, followed by interment, which was private. William "Don" Dugan
Mr. Dugan, 77, of Farmingdale died Dec. 15 at home. Born and raised in Freehold, he moved to Farmingdale 50 years ago. A U.S. Navy veteran who served during World War II in the South Pacific, he was a security communications specialist at the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command at Fort Monmouth for 39 years before retiring in 1985. He loved to fly and upon his discharge from the Navy, he received his pilot’s license. He was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Farmingdale, and a former president of the church’s Holy Name Society. An avid golfer, photographer and bowler, he also served as secretary of the Howell Men’s Bowling League for 13 years. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Lucy Layton Dugan; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Glenn and Linda Dugan, and Brian Dugan, all of Farmingdale; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and John Masterson and Lisa and Jeffrey Corbett, all of Farmingdale; and 10 grandchildren. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Catherine of Siena Church, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. The C.H.T. Clayton & Son Funeral Home, Adelphia section of Howell, was in charge of arrangements. Eugene Randolph Marrow Jr.
Mr. Marrow, 54, of Freehold died Dec. 11 at home. Born in Richmond, Va., he was a lifelong resident of Freehold and was a cook at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Surviving are four sisters, Darlene Marrow of Asbury Park, Josephine Hunte and Toni Jackson, both of Maryland, and Cindy Brown of Mount Holly; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services were held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold.
Lois A. Prenderville
Mrs. Prenderville, 71, of Howell died Dec. 16 at home. Born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., she resided in the Oak Hill section of Middletown prior to moving to Howell in 1987. She was parish secretary at St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft section of Middletown, for 22 years, and was instrumental in the daily running of the parish. She was also a communicant of the church, as well as a member of its Holy Innocents Society. Mrs. Prenderville was predeceased by a sister, Mary Jane Dooley. She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Christopher Prenderville of Freehold, and Richard and Jennifer Prenderville of Amsterdam, Netherlands; a daughter and son-in-law, Megan Prenderville and Mike Harper of Red Bank; a sister, Helen Muraglio of Toms River; three grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. James W. Matthews
Mr. Matthews, 91, of Freehold Township died Dec. 15 at home. Born in Farmingdale, he had lived in Freehold Township for most of his life. A World War II Army veteran, for more than 50 years he was a self-employed carpenter in the Freehold area and an active member of the Reformed Church of Freehold. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4374, Freehold. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Thompson Matthews; three sons, Harold L. Matthews of Newfield, Stanley B. Matthews of Marlboro and Eugene W. Matthews of Plano, Texas; a daughter, Beverly M. Aceves, at home; a brother, George Matthews of Tinton Falls; two sisters, Florence Applegate of Englishtown and Ruth Cook of Illinois; and 12 grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the Reformed Church of Freehold, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
Barnett V. Levine
Mr. Levine, 54, of Freehold, died Dec. 9 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Newark, he had lived in Edison before moving to Freehold 20 years ago. Mr. Levine owned and operated Laundromats in Monmouth County and was a former member of the New Jersey Coin Laundry Association. He was a former teacher with the Perth Amboy Board of Education and was active in union affairs from 1972 to 1982. He also was a substitute teacher at the Shull School, Perth Amboy, for the past three years. He was a graduate of Jersey City State College and received a master’s degree from Seton Hall University, South Orange. Mr. Levine was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Leah Levine, and his brother, Stuart Levine. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Barbara Chernetz Levine; and a niece and a nephew. Interment
took place at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin. The Flynn and Son Funeral Home, Perth Amboy, was in charge of arrangements.
Angela Pasek Radzawich
Mrs. Radzawich, 80, of East Brunswick died Dec. 17 at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Plymouth, Pa., she resided in Edison prior to moving to East Brunswick three years ago. She was a school van driver for Edison Township Board of Education, retiring in 1988. She was a communicant of St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church, East Brunswick. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Louis Radzawich of East Brunswick; three daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Lawrence Arnese of East Brunswick, Mary Lou and John Ellis of Knoxville, Tenn., and Cheryl and Anthony Krahl of North Brunswick; her brother, John Pasek of Whiting; her sister, Victoria Kenger of Englishtown; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church, East Brunswick. Arrangements were by Brunswick Memorial Funeral Home, East Brunswick.
