Estelle Washko
Estelle Washko, 89, of Palm Coast, Fla., formerly of Old Bridge and Milltown, died in Sept. 9 in Palm Coast. She and her late husband, Benjamin J. Washko Sr., owned and operated Midway Garage, Old Bridge, and South Side Auto Garage, Milltown. Surviving are a son, Benjamin J. Washko Jr. of Palm Coast; a daughter, Phyllis Puskas of Cape Cod, Mass.; a sister, Martha Kuchinski of Englishtown; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Graveside services were held at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Jamesburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Florida Hospital, Memorial Hospice Care, 875 Sterthaw Ave., Ormond Beach, FL 32174-9976.
Mary Boshko Zielinski
Mary Boshko Zielinski, 88, of East Brunswick died Sept. 11 at home. Her husband died in 1960. Surviving are a son, George Zielinski; a brother, Peter Boshko of Jamesburg; two sisters, Sophie Yonkman of Old Bridge and Olga Miller of Michigan; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment
was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick.
Mary M. Hogan Williscroft
Mary M. Hogan Williscroft, 87, of South River died Sept. 16 in Barbara E. Cheung Memorial Hospice, Edison. Her husband, Herbert, died in 1977, and a son, Herbert, died in 1996. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Horvath of South River; a son, Robert of East Brunswick; a sister, Naomi Martin of Rutland, Vt.; four brothers, Joseph Hogan of Florida, Al Hogan of Belle Mead, Leon Hogan of Bethlehem, Pa., and Ronald Hogan of Tennessee; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild. A Mass is planned for 9 a.m. on Sept. 18 at Corpus Christi Church, South River. Interment
will follow in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.
B. Roy Aravecz
Mr. Aravecz, 73, of the Lincroft section of Middletown died Dec. 13 at Blythe House, Tinton Falls. Born in Elizabeth, he resided in Middletown 41 years. He was the owner/operator of Monmouth Exxon, Holmdel, for 30 years, retiring in 1985. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He was a founding member of the Mater Dei Booster Club, New Monmouth, and an avid fisherman. He was predeceased by his wife, Anita Aravecz in 1992. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Claire and Edward Andia of Middletown; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Cathy Aravecz of Lincroft, and John and Rondi Aravecz of Freehold; and four grandchildren. A funeral gathering will be held Dec. 17 at 8:30 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral liturgy will follow at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. Burial will follow at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia. Memorial donations may be made to Mater Dei Booster Club, 538 Church St., New Monmouth 07748.
Audrey Christina Cordero
Mrs. Cordero, 45, of Freehold died Dec. 11 at home. Born in New York City, she lived there most of her life before moving to Freehold nine years ago. A graduate of George Washington High School, New York City, and Syracuse (N.Y.) University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in 1981, she worked with such companies as U.S. Weekly Magazine, Orion Pictures, ABC News, ESPN the Magazine, the Walt Disney Co. and most recently, the Freehold Borough Board of Education. She was an active member of the Syracuse University Alumni and the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) of Freehold, as well as a lifeguard at the YMCA. She was also an avid Yankee fan. Surviving are her husband, Martyn Cordero; a daughter, Lauren, and a son, Miles; her mother, Peggy McFarland; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sabrina McFarland, and Ingrid and Daniel Whittaker; two aunts and three uncles; and two cousins. A funeral service was held at Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, followed by interment, which was private.
Lucille E. Cicciari
Mrs. Cicciari, 84, of Manchester died Dec. 11 at Manchester Manor, Manchester. Born in New York City, she had lived in Howard Beach, Queens, N.Y., and Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Manchester 17 years ago. She was a supervisor for Chase Manhattan Bank, New York City, for 20 years before retiring in 1982. During World War II, she had worked on torpedoes in the defense plant in Brooklyn. A few years after the war, she worked in the Children’s Clothing Factory, also in Brooklyn. She loved to sing, dance and listen to music. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter, in 1999. Surviving are two daughters, Paula Bund of Coral Springs, Fla., and Laura Garavuso of Marlboro; a sister, Marie Amen of Laguna Woods, Calif.; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge, followed by entombment at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge.
Joseph V. McLoone
Mr. McLoone, 86, of Hobe Sound, Fla., formerly of Freehold, died Dec. 5 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had served during World War II with the U.S. Navy Seabees in the South Pacific and was a retired commander for the U.S. Naval Reserve. He was a communicant of St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Hobe Sound, and a former communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township. A former president of Freehold Raceway, he had orchestrated the reconstruction of the track after it was destroyed by fire in May 1984. He also served as president of the United States Trotting Association, Harness Tracks of America and the World Trotting Council. In addition, he had served as board chairman for CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, and from 1972 until he retired to Florida in 1993, had been active in the Association for Retarded Citizens. He was predeceased by three brothers, Hugh, Francis and Phillip, and a sister, Anne, as well as his first wife, Marie, in 1977. Surviving are his wife, Sheila McLoone; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Briane of Sea Bright, and Tim and Elizabeth of Little Silver; three stepsons and a stepdaughter-in-law, Gerald Nagy of California, Ronald Nagy of New Jersey, and Robert and Angela Nagy of Florida; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandson. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
Jonas Levine
Mr. Levine, 91, of Manalapan, died Dec. 12 at Colts Neck Village. Born in New York City, he had lived in Marlboro for 18 years before moving to Manalapan. A World War II Army veteran, he owned a shoe store in Queens, N.Y., for many years before retiring. He was predeceased by his wife, Ida, and two grandsons, Michael and Brett. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Denise Levine of Howell; two daughters and a son-in-law, Eileen Jessuron of Manalapan, and Dina and John Santaly of Delray Beach, Fla.; a brother, Harry Levine; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, followed by interment, which was private.
Robert F. Gleason
Mr. Gleason, 64, of Freehold Township died Dec. 12 at home. Born in Cleveland, he had lived in Freehold for the past 34 years. He was an engineer for Bell Laboratories, Holmdel, for more than 30 years. From 1997-2002 he was an engineer for Tyco Submarine Systems, Eatontown. He earned a bachelor of science degree from Case Institute of Technology, Cleveland, a master of science degree from New York University and a doctorate degree from Stanford (Calif.) University. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Freehold, where he was benevolence chairman and a member of the Board of Trustees. He was also a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Olive Branch Lodge No. 16, Freehold. Surviving are his wife, Martha "Marti" Keyser Gleason; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Page Gleason and Richard Campbell of Atlanta, Julie Gleason of Kutztown, Pa., and Diane and Brian Connelly of Forks Township, Pa.; and two granddaughters. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. William L. Frederickson officiating. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
