John A. Peterson
Mr. Peterson, 59, of Howell died Nov. 28 at home. Born in Nyack, N.Y., he had lived in Woodbridge and Keasbey before moving to Howell 20 years ago. For the past 13 years, he was a mechanic for Stern’s Rental Co., Farmingdale. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Freehold, and the New Beginnings Christian Fellowship, Brick. Surviving are his wife, Ann Marie Peterson; three sons, Joseph Ponzo of Jackson, David Peterson of Virginia Beach, Va., and John B. Peterson of Wall; two daughters, Jennelle and Jamie Peterson, both of Howell; his mother, Elizabeth Peterson of South Glen Falls, N.Y.; two brothers, Charles Peterson and William T. Garrison; five sisters, Katherine Peterson, Mary Ann Croteau, Alice Bower, Frances Parkin and Elizabeth Mary Tracy; and two grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the C.H.T. Clayton & Son Funeral Home, Adelphia section of Howell, with the Rev. Joseph Sorce officiating. Interment
followed at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown.
Alfred P. Kahwaty
Mr. Kahwaty, 72, of Freehold Township died Dec. 1 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had lived in Freehold Township for the past 40 years. He worked for U.S. Steel, New York City, for 18 years and Triangle Industries, New Brunswick, for 14 years before working for 10 years as a national sales director at Pharmafair Inc., New York City, until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Amale Sawaya; five sons, Leon Kahwaty of Allentown, Pa., Joseph Kahwaty and Alfred Kahwaty Jr., both of Freehold, John Kahwaty of Destin, Fla., and James Kahwaty of Jackson; two daughters, Theresa Lithgow of Freehold and Virginia Tomczak of Jackson; a brother, Henry Kahwaty of Maryland; a sister, Claudette Haughie of Manalapan; and seven grandchildren. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold.
Jean M. McDougall
Mrs. McDougall, 87, of Freehold Township died Dec. 2 at home. Born in Jersey City, she had lived in Nutley before moving to Freehold Township six years ago, and from an early age had spent summers at Long Beach Island. For more than 30 years, she was a laboratory technician for International Telephone and Telegraph (ITT) Corp., Nutley, before retiring 17 years ago., and a patent holder for a semiconductor circuit element that was developed at ITT. She was a lifetime member of Grace Episcopal Church, Nutley, where she was also a member of the Couples Club; a member of the Nutley Little Theater, where she was known for her sense of humor; and the Four Cylinder Club of America Inc. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and crewel work. She was predeceased by five sisters and four brothers. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Miller Koehler and Herman Koehler of Freehold, with whom she had lived; and Stephanie Miller Diamond and Ronald Diamond of Morristown; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Grace Episcopal Church. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements. Janet C. Wehrle
Mrs. Wehrle, 48, of Freehold Township died Nov. 17 at home. Born in Queens, N.Y., she lived in Middletown before moving to Freehold Township 14 years ago. A 1977 graduate of Trenton State College, Ewing, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing, Mrs. Wehrle worked as a registered nurse for Red Bank Endoscopy Center before retiring in December 1999. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church in Freehold. Surviving are her husband, Daniel; two sons, Daniel Jr. and Eric; her mother, Elizabeth Cirner of Freehold; a brother, Stephen Cirner of Toms River; and a sister, Marilyn Baker, Toms River. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at Maplewood Mausoleum, Freehold Township.
Gloria A. Dobhan
Mrs. Dobhan, 67, of Englishtown died Nov. 18 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., she lived in the Bronx, N.Y., before moving to Englishtown 37 years ago. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kimberly Dobhan of Suffolk, Va.; and two daughters and a son-in-law, Kimberly and Kyle Fisher of Oswego, Ill., and Heather Dobhan of Manasquan. Tammy L. Kennedy
Mrs. Kennedy, 39, of Lakewood died Oct. 17 at Leisure Chateau Care Center, Lakewood. Born in Lakewood, she was a certified nurse’s aide. She is survived by three daughters, Valerie Castronova and Stephanie Suttors, both of Florida, and Kimberly Kennedy of Freehold; her mother, Janet Burroughs of Brick; and a sister, Jennifer Burroughs, also of Brick. A funeral service was held at the C.H.T. Clayton & Son Funeral Home, Adelphia, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
Lucille Ranello Favorito
Mrs. Favorito, 64, of Red Bank died Nov. 20 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in New York City, she resided in Middletown prior to moving to Red Bank 10 years ago. She was a debt collector at United Teletech Federal Credit Union, Tinton Falls, the past five years. Prior to that, she was employed at Wholesale Warehouse, Red Bank, and McGraw Hill, New York City and Hightstown. Mrs. Favorito is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Mark Favorito of Freehold, and Mitchel and Kristen Favorito of Tinton Falls; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Favorito and David Walunas of Aberdeen; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Danny Galante of Baldwin, N.Y., and Anne and Jack Blatt of Flushing, N.Y.; and four grandchildren. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Eileen Patricia Whitty Pape
Mrs. Pape, 78, of Freehold died Oct. 29 at Monmouth Crossing, Freehold. She was born in Staten Island, N.Y., and lived in Matawan before moving to Freehold one year ago. Mrs. Pape was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Pape Jr. in 1992; and two sisters, Loretto Laverde and Helen Whitty. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Pape III and his wife, Caryn, and David Pape and his wife, Nancy, all of Millstone; three daughters, Debra Pape Hartmann, and her husband, James, Mercerville; Barbara Pape Aaron, and her husband, Andy, Ardsley, N.Y.; and Diane Pape, Freehold; six sisters, Mary Whitty, Joan Hemsworth, Dolores Connolly, Jean Kavanaugh, Anne Brandefine and Kathleen Polomene; and nine grandchildren. Arrangements were held at the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold. The funeral liturgy was offered at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Freehold Township, followed by entombment at Holy Cross Burial Park, East Brunswick. Rose M. Murphy
Mrs. Murphy, 69, of Farmingdale died Nov. 20 at home. Born in Mount Kisco, N.Y., she had lived in Pleasantville, N.Y., before moving to Farmingdale in 1953. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church of Farmingdale. Surviving are her husband, Robert B. Murphy; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert B. Jr. and JoAnn Murphy of Farmingdale; a daughter, Barbara Ann MacKenzie, also of Farmingdale; two brothers, Joe Loquercio of Pleasantville and Rocco Lewis of Vero Beach, Fla.; a sister, Madeline Antonecchia of Pleasantville; and four grandchildren.
