Margaret A. O’Connor
Mrs. O’Connor, 84, of Wall died Nov. 18 at Bayshore Health Care Center, Holmdel. Born in Philadelphia, she lived in West Bristol, Pa., from 1953 until 1977 and in Southampton from 1977 until April, when she moved to Wall. She was a former communicant of Holy Eucharist Roman Catholic Church, Tabernacle. She was predeceased by her husband, James Regis O’Connor, in 1986. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Marcy and Luke Stango of Marlboro; a sister, Mary McGovern of Philadelphia; and three grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro, followed by interment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, also in Marlboro. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 210 Fifth Ave., Asbury Park, 07712.
Carmela Dolores Palladino
Mrs. Palladino, 87, of Marlboro died Nov. 18 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Newark, she lived in West Orange and Cedar Grove before moving to Marlboro 18 years ago. She was a homemaker and a communicant of St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church in Marlboro. Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Domenick John; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Diane Palladino of Bridgewater and Robert and Barbara Palladino of Florham Park; two brothers, Anthony Denice of Arlington, Va., and Michael Denice of Toms River; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Gabriel’s Church, followed by interment at St. Teresa’s Cemetery, Summit. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.
Angelo Caccioppoli
Mr. Caccioppoli, 69, died Nov. 18 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, after a long struggle with illness. Born in Italy, he came to the United States in 1967 settling in Brooklyn, N.Y. He moved to Freehold Township in August. For 30 years he was the owner of Paramount Shoe Repair, Brooklyn, retiring in 1998. He served in the Italian army and was a lifetime member of the St. Anthony Society of Brooklyn, N.Y. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Lucia; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Lisa Caccioppoli of Howell; two brothers, Thomas Caccioppoli and Frank Caccioppoli, both of Italy; two sisters, Rosaria Casalino and Rosetta Faulisi, both of Brooklyn; and two grandsons. A funeral service was held at the First Assembly of God Church, Freehold Township, with the Rev. Jeffrey Philhower officiating. Entombment followed at Maplewood Mausoleum, Freehold Township.
Ellen T. Poyer Burns
Mrs. Burns, 70, of Hazlet died Nov. 17 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided in Queens, N.Y., prior to moving to Hazlet 32 years ago. She worked at ShopRite, Middletown, retiring in 1993. She was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. She is survived by her husband, George Burns of Hazlet; five sons, John Burns of York, Pa., Brian Burns of Freehold, Robert Burns of Berkeley Heights, George Burns of East Brunswick, and Richard Burns of Stroudsburg, Pa.; three sisters, Dorothy Herlihy of Lyndhurst, N.Y.; Joan Breen of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and Carol Sesny of Staten Island, N.Y.; and 13 grandchildren. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Interment was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
Coppelia E. Gonzalez
Mrs. Gonzalez, 80, of Marlboro, died Nov. 10 at home. Born in Havana, Cuba, she lived in Kenilworth for 20 years before moving to Marlboro two years ago. She worked as a supervisor for the Firemen’s Fund Insurance Co., Parsippany, for 25 years. She was also employed by the Center for Hope Hospice, Linden. She is survived by two sons, Henry Gonzalez of Belle Meade and William Gonzalez of East Millstone; two daughters, Coppelia Lipschultz of Freehold and Isabel C. Vales of Fort Meyers, Fla.; and two grandchildren. A funeral service was held at St. Gabriel’s Church, Marlboro. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Freeman Funeral Home, Manalapan.
Joseph J. D’Orazio
Mr. D’Orazio, 87, of Englishtown died Nov. 11 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Manhattan, he lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Englishtown 22 years ago. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a communicant of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan. He was a clerk for the Brooklyn Naval Yard in Brooklyn, retiring in 1980. He was predeceased by his wife, Irene, in 1985. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Lorraine of Great Kills, N.Y.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Margaret Ferrara of Englishtown and Anne and Joe Meringolo of Stroudsburg, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Thomas More Church. Interment
was at Forest Green Park Cemetery, Marlboro.
Beverly Petschenik
Beverly Petschenik, 58, of Manalapan died Nov. 11 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., she lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Manalapan 18 years ago. She is survived by her husband, Nathan; her son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Melissa Petschenik of Wilton, Conn.; a daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Barry Russin of Freehold; a brother, Alan Cohen of Plainfield; and two grandchildren, Ethan and Daphne Petschenik of Wilton. Services were held at the Sanctuary of Abraham and Sarah, Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus. Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.
Christiane Tashjian
Mrs. Tashjian, 91, of Freehold Township died Nov. 11 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Bordeaux, France, she resided in Freehold Township since 1945. She attended St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Freehold. She was predeceased by her husband, Haigaz Tashjian, in 1994; and her son, Daniel, in 1997. She is survived by a son and his fiancee, Douglas Tashjian and K. Sue Bennett of Freehold. Funeral services were held at the Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold. Interment
was at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
Walter R. Mc Gill
Mr. Mc Gill, 82, of Matawan died Nov. 9 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided there before moving to the Old Bridge/Matawan area in 1964. He was superintendent of library, buildings, and construction at Brooklyn Library, retiring in 1987. Prior to that, he worked at Electronic Enterprises, Newark, and was a firefighter at Engine Station No. 278, Brooklyn, for 22 years, retiring as captain in 1965. Mr. Mc Gill served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of U.S. Submarine Veterans of World War II, and the Jersey Aero Club, Wall Township. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Weiss Mc Gill; a son, Barry Mc Gill of Doylestown, Pa.; a daughter, Susan Armellino of Freehold; three sisters, Helen Busby of Levittown, Pa., June Mc Gill of Winter Park, Fla., and Florence Marsh of Ocala, Fla; two stepsons, Robert and Victor Weiss, both of Old Bridge; five grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. The Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge, was in charge of arrangements.
