Michael A. Anzano
Michael A. Anzano, 17, died Nov. 13 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Born in Secaucus, he lived in Farmingdale. He was a senior at Colts Neck High School where he studied art. He was a member of the basketball team, and played in the Howell Little League. He was the bass player in the band Enola Sunrise. Anzano was employed part time at Hollister Co., Freehold Raceway Mall. He is survived by his parents, Anthony V. and Barbara Cushing Anzano of Farmingdale; a sister, Kristen Anzano, at home; his maternal grandmother, Shirley Cushing of Asbury Park; and his paternal grandparents, Ralph and Palma Anzano of East Meadow, N.Y. Funeral services were held at C.H.T. Clayton & Son Funeral Home, Adelphia. A Funeral Mass was offered at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Farmingdale. Interment
was private.
Mae Nolan
Mrs. Nolan, 86, of Toms River died Nov. 14 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in New York City, she had lived in the Bronx, N.Y., before moving to Toms River 33 years ago. Prior to retiring in 1970, she was a commercial detailer for Commercial Decal Co. in Mount Vernon, N.Y., for 20 years. She was predeceased by two husbands, Howard Bernius in 1977 and Edward Nolan in 1990. Surviving is a son, Richard Bernius of Warwick, N.Y.; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Bill Cargiulo of Freehold Township; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Colts Neck, followed by interment at Joseph’s Cemetery, Toms River. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements. Juan A. "Tony" Rivera
Mr. Rivera, 69, of Freehold died Nov. 14 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Hatillo, Puerto Rico, he had lived in Freehold for more than 45 years. He was a cabinetmaker and a member of the Canaan Christian Church, Jackson. Surviving are three sons, Jorge A. "Tony" Rivera of Brick, Hector L. Rivera of Passaic, and Henry Rivera of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Rosa Rivera of Brick and Wilma Whitelow of Broadway, Va.; a brother, Gilbert Rivera of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sisters, Fela Sanchez of Whiting and Benicia Maldonado of Trenton; nine grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Funeral services were held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.
Susan Ellen Polotti
Mrs. Polotti, 46, of Freehold Township died Nov. 4 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, after a brief and sudden illness. Born Susan Ellen Licari in Staten Island, N.Y., she had resided in both Sunnyside and Livingston, Staten Island, before settling in Freehold nine years ago. A graduate of Curtis High School’s nursing program, where she received a licensed practical nursing license in 1975, she went on four years later to earn a bachelor of science degree in nursing at Wagner College, Staten Island. She worked as a registered nurse at Clove Lakes Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Staten Island, for 12 years, and was employed for the past two and a half years by The Manor, a division of CentraState Medical Center. She was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township, where she had served as a eucharistic minister. She is survived by her husband, Charles F. Polotti Sr.; three children, Melissa and her fiancé, Michael Pinto, and Steven and Charles Jr.; her parents, Salvatore and Assunta Trifoglio Licari; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Maritza Licari, and Robert and Madeline Licari; and a niece and nephew. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.
H. Arline Ammann
Ms. Ammann, 90, of New York City, formerly of Freehold, died Oct. 25 at Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center, New York City. Born in New York, for many years she lived in Freehold where she worked at her family-owned candy store. She was also a biscuit wrapper for National Biscuit in New York City. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert, in 2000. She is survived by a sister, Dorothy Ammann of New York City. Graveside services were held at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold, with Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, in charge of arrangements.
Julia B. Janowski Zeczkowski
Mrs. Zeczkowski, 74, of Hazlet died Oct. 25 at University Hospital of Newark. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided there until moving to Hazlet 46 years ago. Mrs. Zeczkowski was a line supervisor at Charles of the Ritz, Holmdel, for 15 years. She was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. She was a member of the Holy Family Golden Agers, Deborah Hospital Women’s Guild, and the Hazlet Senior Citizen Club. She also was an active volunteer with Project Linus NJ, Keyport, where she crocheted several blankets for the project. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Stephen F. Zeczkowski; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Kathleen and Donald LaMontagne of Wall, Theresa Berg of Morganville, Victoria and Stanley Chapman of Manchester, N.H., and Christine and Arthur Smith of Jackson; a sister, Mary Bledsoe of Woodbridge, Va.; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach, followed by interment at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet. Walter R. McGill
Mr. Mc Gill, 82, of Matawan died Nov. 9 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided there before moving to the Old Bridge/Matawan area in 1964. He was superintendent of library, buildings, and construction at Brooklyn Library, retiring in 1987. Prior to that, he worked at Electronic Enterprises, Newark, and was a firefighter at Engine Station No. 278, Brooklyn, for 22 years, retiring as captain in 1965. Mr. Mc Gill served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of U.S. Submarine Veterans of World War II, and the Jersey Aero Club, Wall Township. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Weiss Mc Gill; a son, Barry Mc Gill of Doylestown, Pa.; a daughter, Susan Armellino of Freehold; three sisters, Helen Busby of Levittown, Pa., June Mc Gill of Winter Park, Fla., and Florence Marsh of Ocala, Fla; two stepsons, Robert and Victor Weiss, both of Old Bridge; five grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. The Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge, was in charge of arrangements.
Lois Phoebe Schwartzman
Mrs. Schwartzman, 66, of Freehold Township died Nov. 3 at her daughter’s home in Howell. Born in Durham, N.C., she had lived in Lakewood for two years before moving to Freehold Township 38 years ago. A graduate of Rutgers University, New Brunswick, she had been an office manager for Tuzek Co. in New York City. She had also been previously employed at the Princeton Marriott and as a substitute English teacher for the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District. Surviving are her husband, Edwin Schwartzman; five daughters and sons-in-law, Miriam and Blair Smith of Monroe, Wash., Susan and William Lyon of Ortonville, Mich., Judith and Scott Thacke of Howell, Anne and Mark Skibniewski of Old Bridge, and Ruth and David Cook of Mount Holly; her mother, Ida Zuckerman of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a sister, Ellen Zuckerman, also of Brooklyn; and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, with Rabbi Michael Klein officiating. Interment
followed at Hebrew Benefit Society Cemetery, Freehold Township.
Ruth H. Miner
Mrs. Miner, 90, of Lakewood died Oct. 26 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Born and raised in Hightstown, she lived in Jamesburg and Manasquan before moving to Lakewood in 1997. Prior to retiring in 1975, she was a teacher at Asbury Park High School for 30 years and previously taught at the New York University Reading Institute. A member of the International Secretary for Parents Without Partners, she was a 1934 graduate of the New Jersey College for Women in New Brunswick, now Douglass College, Rutgers University. She was predeceased by her husband, Elliott, in 1956. Surviving are a son, John Miner of Howell; a daughter, Ellen Abernathy of Brick; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. A memorial service was held at the C.H.T. Clayton & Son Funeral Home, Adelphia section of Howell. Interment
was private.
