Kenneth N. Eldridge
Mr. Eldridge, 84, of Howell, died Sept. 24 at Bartley Health Care Nursing & Rehabilitation, Jackson. Born in Neptune, he had also lived there before moving to Howell. A U.S. Army Veteran who served during World War II, Mr. Eldridge was the recipient of the Purple Heart award. He was a heavy equipment and crane operator for Fred McDowell for 45 years, until his retirement, after which he became a driver for Lakewood Auto Supply for eight years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Surviving are his wife, Iris Wagner Eldridge of Howell; one son, Raymond W. Eldridge of Howell; and three grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the C.H.T. Clayton & Son Funeral Home, Adelphia, followed by interment in Adelphia Cemetery.
Joseph E. Patton
Mr. Patton, 72, of Old Bridge died Sept. 29 in Care One, East Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Antoinette Patton; two sons, Joseph Patton of Freehold and Michael Treeon of Ohio; two daughters, Marie Stump of West Virginia and Theresa Crenshaw of Plainsboro; four brothers, Larry of Pennsylvania, Eugene of Tresckow, Pa., and Robert and Charles, both of Warminster, Pa.; five granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Entombment was in Holy Cross Mausoleum, South Brunswick.
Audrey Victoria Perri
Mrs. Perri, 73, of Marlboro, died Sept. 26 at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was born in Clifton and lived in Marlboro for the past 42 years. Mrs. Perri was a human service technician for Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital, Marlboro, for 10 years before her retirement in 1992. She was a member of the Hightstown Seventh Day Adventist Church. Mrs. Perri is survived by her husband, John Perri Sr.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John Perri Jr. of Marlboro, and Michael Patrick and Susan Perri of Freehold; two sisters, Joan Kovalski and Virginia Kijak, both of Falling Waters, W.Va.; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by entombment at Marlboro Memorial Cemetery, Marlboro.
Vilmar E. Costa
Mr. Costa, 19, died Sept. 27 as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. A 2002 graduate of South River High School, he was a student at DeVry University, North Brunswick. He was employed for the past three years at International House of Pancakes (IHOP), Marlboro, and prior to that, he worked at IHOP, East Brunswick. Surviving are his parents, Vilmar and Shirley Lopez Costa, with whom he lived; two sisters, Maria Costa and Brenda Costa, both of South River; a nephew, Christopher Costa of South River; his maternal grandparents, Eduardo and Nelly Magas of the Toms River section of Dover; his paternal grandmother, Maria Costa, in South America; an uncle, Eduardo Lopez of Forest Hills, Md.; and an aunt, Imara Lopez of South River. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Cremation was private.
Claudia Gitter
Mrs. Gitter, 86, of Freehold Township died Oct. 2 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., she lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., Clifton and Florida before moving to Freehold. She was a homemaker and a member of the Clifton Jewish Center, Clifton. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis, in 1991. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Sheila Rouff of Marlboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Gideon Weingarten of Freehold; two stepsons, Jeff Gitter of Brooklyn and Morty Gitter of Centereach, N.Y.; a sister, Adreline Ascher of Brooklyn; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A graveside service was held at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin section of Woodbridge. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.
Joon Taek Kwon
Mr. Kwon, 68, of Freehold Township died Oct. 1 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Korea, he resided in Edmonton, Alberta Canada, and in Plainfield before moving to Freehold Township in 1969. He worked as a research chemist for ABB Lummus Co., Bloomfield, for 30 years before retiring in 1999. He was associated with Monmouth Council, Boy Scouts of America, for 25 years and served as a scoutmaster. Surviving are his wife, the former Moon Ja Yoo, of Freehold; a son, Howard Kwon of Boca Raton, Fla.; a daughter, Daphne Hildebolt of New York City; a brother, Ho Taek Kwon of Seoul, Korea; a sister, Sung Ja, of Sydney, Australia; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Fairfax (Va.) Memorial Park, Fairfax. Memorial donations may be made to Monmouth Council, BSA, Deal and Monmouth Road, P.O. Box 188, Oakhurst 07755.
Marion Jean Woodfield Tice
Mrs. Woodfield, 82, of Clarksville, Va., died Oct. 1 at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, Va. She was a teller for Colonial National Bank until her retirement. She was predeceased by her first husband, Elias Pease, and her second husband, Lester Tice. She is survived by her three daughters, Sheryl Pelela of Clarksville, Va.; Janet Kuey of Cream Ridge; and Joan Walling of Howell; a sister, Sarah Wardell of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a brother Russell Woodfield of Floral City, Fla.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Services were held at C.H.T. Clayton & Son Funeral Home, Howell. Interment
was at Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale.
Stanley Bernard Farbstein
Mr. Farbstein, 79, of Marlboro died Oct. 2 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived in the Canarsie section before moving to the Greenbriar community 12 years ago. A World War II Navy veteran, he was a printer in Manhattan before retiring. He was a member of the Jewish War Veterans and Deborah Hospital Association. He enjoyed playing shuffleboard in the Senior Condo Olympics. Surviving are his wife, Muriel; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and John Lamb of Aberdeen and Marla and John Hammond of Jersey City; and two grandchildren. Services were held at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan. Interment
was at Marlboro Memorial Mausoleum, Marlboro.
Jean G. Totaro
Mrs. Totaro, 73, of Jackson, died Aug. 26 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Mrs. Totaro was born in Jersey City and had lived in Freehold Township for 32 years before moving to Jackson two years ago. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, where she was a member of the church choir and a member of the St. Rose of Lima Senior Citizen Club. She also was a volunteer at the Westlake Community Center, Jackson. Mrs. Totaro was predeceased by her husband, Michael R. Totaro, in 2001. Surviving are two sons, Vincent Totaro of Colts Neck and Paul Totaro of California; a brother, Salvatore Vincitore of Freehold Township; a sister, Marie Falotico of Bayonne; a sister-in-law, Jeraldine Vincitore of Freehold Township; three grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews. A Funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by entombment at the parish mausoleum, Freehold Township.
