Thomas DiCapua
Mr. DiCapua, 69, of the Belford section of Middletown, died Oct. 22 at home. Born in Long Branch, he resided in Middletown before moving to Belford 25 years ago. He was a longshoreman with Local ILA No. 901-1, retiring in 1998. He was also the owner-operator of Playtime Boys, and Four Sons and Lisa, both in Keansburg. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He was a member of the Middletown Elks No. 2179. He was predeceased by his parents, Jerry and Angelina Cagnoli DiCapua; and three sons, Steven DiCapua, Thomas DiCapua Jr., and Brian DiCapua. He is survived by his son, Gye DiCapua of Hollywood, Calif.; his daughter, Lisa DiCapua of New Orleans; six brothers, Jerry DiCapua, Michael DiCapua and Louis DiCapua, all of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Joseph DiCapua and Frederick DiCapua, both of Keansburg, and John DiCapua of Jackson; three sisters, Margaret Salerno of Howell, Eleanor McManus of Hazlet, and Angelina DiCapua of the Leonardo section of Middletown; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Entombment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
Mona Silverstein
Mrs. Silverstein, 94, of Lakewood died Oct. 23 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Russia, she resided in New York before moving to Lakewood 31 years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, Martin, in 1980. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Lewis and Sorena Silverstein of Middletown; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Steven Gelber of Freehold Township; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A graveside service was held at Beth David Cemetery
in Elmont, N.Y. Arrangements were under the direction of Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold.
Barbara J. Meshkowitz
Mrs. Meshkowitz, 58, of Eatontown died Oct. 29 at St. Barnabas Hospice, Long Branch. Born in Plainfield, she resided in the Lincroft section of Middletown prior to moving to Eatontown 32 years ago. Mrs. Meshkowitz was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church, Eatontown. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Lawrence "Larry" P. Meshkowitz; a son, Michael D. Meshkowitz of Eatontown; and two cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Dorothea’s Church. Interment

Theodore A. Wathington
Mr. Wathington, 62, of Aberdeen died Nov. 5 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Long Branch, he was a lifelong resident of Aberdeen. He was a shift superintendent at Bayway Oil Refinery, Linden, retiring in 1968. Mr. Wathington served with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. Mark’s AME Zion Church, Cliffwood section of Aberdeen. He was a member of the Mason Butler Lodge, Cliffwood. He enjoyed playing golf. He was predeceased by his father, Otis Wathington Sr.; and a brother, Alonzo Wathington. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Annie Evelyn Wathington; four sons, Kevin Parrish, Edward Parrish, Philip Wathington and Alfonzo Jason Moore; three daughters, Yvonne Parrish, Sonia Cross, Almeta Wathington and Melissa Wathington; his mother, Melissa Russell Wathington; four brothers, Otis Wathington Jr., Charles Wathington, William Wathington and Alphonso Wathington; four sisters, Lillian Parrish, Beverly Jackson, Mary Jane Johnson and Patricia McGowan; and eight grandchildren. A funeral service was held at St. Mark’s AME Zion Church, Cliffwood. Interment
was at Holmdel Cemetery

Phyllis M. Cowie Stephens
Mrs. Stephens, 95, died Oct. 30 at Avante Nursing Home, Red Bank. Born in New York City, she resided in Hazlet and Ridgefield Park before moving to Red Bank. She was a secretary/bookkeeper at Stephen Lawrence and Co., Hackensack, for 11 years, retiring in 1980. She attended Faith Reform Church, Hazlet. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Ridgefield Park. She was predeceased her husband, William Stephens, in 1969; and a sister, Victoria Ettell, in 2002. She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Marshall of Hazlet; a sister, Caroline Anderson of Florida; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Interment
was at George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, Paramus. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Udell "Larry" Evans
Mr. Evans, 79, of the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen, died Oct. 22 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge Division. Born in West Monroe, La., he resided in Jersey City before moving to Cliffwood Beach 40 years ago. Mr. Evans was a security guard at Con Air, Edison, for five years. Prior to that, he was a terminal operator at Texaco Oil Co. for 23 years, retiring in 1983. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was predeceased by a son, Thomas Evans, in 2002; a sister, Shirley Owens; and one grandchild. Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, Antoinette Spedalieri Evans; a son, Robert Evans of Lakeville, Pa.; a sister, Catherine Floyd of Louisiana; a brother, Sammy Evans of Louisiana; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Entombment was at Holmdel Mausoleum. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Mary G. Andriani
Mrs. Andriani, 84, of Middletown died Oct. 31 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in New York City, she resided in Middletown for the past 20 years. She was a member of St. Clement’s Episcopal Church, Belford section of Middletown. She was an avid bingo player. Mrs. Andriani was predeceased by her husband, James Andriani, in 1979. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Irene Crotty of Lakewood; two daughters, Irene Halzack and Grace Crotty, both of New York City; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at St. Clement’s Episcopal Church, Belford. Burial took place at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
Argentia Miccio Murena Stevens
Mrs. Stevens, 90, of Middletown died Oct. 31 at home. Born in Avialina, Italy, she relocated to the United States in 1919 and resided in New York City and Hazlet before moving to Middletown four years ago. She was a draper in the garment industry in New York City for 30 years, retiring in 1970. She was predeceased by her husband of 25 years, Walter Q. Stevens, in 1994. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Elizabeth Miccio of Aylett, Va.; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Robert Reins of Middletown; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, North Middletown. Entombment was at Holmdel Mausoleum. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
Abraham I. Rosenzweig
Mr. Rosenzweig, 94, of Middletown died Nov. 5 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Lutz, Poland, he resided in Jersey City before moving to Middletown 11 years ago. He was a retired foreman at Welin Davitt Boat Corp., Perth Amboy, where he was employed for more than 30 years. He enjoyed music and was a member of an area musician’s union. Mr. Rosenzweig is survived by his wife of 67 years, Josephine Vesneski Rosenzweig; two daughters, Helen Feindt of Forked River and Shirley Corcoran of Middletown; a sister, Helen Slater of New York; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Entombment was at Holmdel Cemetery. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
