Sam Maniscalco
Mr. Maniscalco, 80, of Aberdeen died Oct. 16 at home. Born in Perth Amboy, he resided in Aberdeen the past 57 years. He was a retired head custodian for the Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District, for 17 years, retiring in 1988. He served with the U.S. Navy and Seabees during World War II and the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Cliffwood section of Aberdeen, and a senior citizens group. He is survived by his wife, Betty L. Maniscalco of Aberdeen; his son and daughter-in-law, John and Susan Maniscalco of Howell; his daughter, Donna Poranski of Matawan; two brothers, Richard Maniscalco of Pennsylvania, and Roger Maniscalco of Freehold; his sister, Satina Polizzi of Toms River; and four grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Interment

Madeline C. Anastasio
Mrs. Anastasio, 92, of Southbury, Conn., formerly of Aberdeen, died Oct. 17 at Peterbury Hospital, Waterbury, Conn. Born in New York City, she resided in Bethpage, N.Y., before moving to Aberdeen in 1963. She was a retired teacher at Holmdel Township Village and Middle schools. Prior to that, she worked in the engineering department at Grumman Aircraft, Bethpage. She was involved with the fine arts and took part in the production of decorative sheet glass, to be used in residential and commercial properties. She enjoyed time with her family. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Alfred C. Anastasio, her daughter, Carole Angus, and her sister, Gertrude Forrest, all of Heritage Village, Southbury, Conn.; her brother, Frank Stephan of Albany, N.Y.; three grandsons; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements were by Munson-Lovetere Funeral Homes, Southbury.
Andrew E. Petti Jr.
Mr. Petti, 38, of the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen, died Oct. 24 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Newark, he resided in Old Bridge and the Cliffwood Beach area for 30 years. He was an irrigation systems installer at Central Jersey Irrigation, Englishtown. Mr. Petti is survived by his parents, Andrew and Virginia Orlando Petti Sr. of Matawan; two sisters, Cathy Fleming of Cliffwood Beach and Denise White of Helmetta; a brother, James Petti of Colonia; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. Interment
will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
Julia B. Janowski Zeczkowski
Mrs. Zeczkowski, 74, of Hazlet died Oct. 25 at University Hospital of Newark. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided there until moving to Hazlet 46 years ago. Mrs. Zeczkowski was a line supervisor at Charles of the Ritz, Holmdel, for 15 years. She was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Her memberships included the Holy Family Golden Agers, Deborah Hospital Women’s Guild, and the Hazlet Senior Citizen Club. She enjoyed time with her family, and was an active volunteer with Project Linus NJ, Keyport, crocheting several blankets for the project. Mrs. Zeczkowski is survived by her husband of 53 years, Stephen F. Zeczkowski; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Kathleen and Donald LaMontagne of Wall, Theresa Berg of Morganville, Victoria and Stanley Chapman of Manchester, N.H., and Christine and Arthur Smith of Jackson; a sister, Mary Bledsoe of Woodbridge, Va.; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Oct. 29 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Interment

Carlos Antonio Berges
Mr. Berges, 67, of Middletown died Oct. 27 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in New York City, he resided in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Middletown 27 years ago. He was the retired owner and operator of Cass Associates, Port Newark. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member and treasurer of the Spina Bifida Association, New York City, and coached at St. Ephraim’s Little League, Brooklyn, N.Y. Mr. Berges is survived by his wife of 37 years, Margaret Berges; two daughters, Elizabeth Rosina of South Jersey and Maggie Berges of Middletown; two sons, Richard Berges of Middletown and Robert Berges of California; a sister, Helen Garb of Florida; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be Oct. 29 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral gathering take place Oct. 30 at 8:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a funeral liturgy at 9 a.m. at St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. Entombment will be at Holmdel Cemetery.
Anthony Arnold Hawley
Mr. Hawley, 53, of Long Branch died Oct. 26 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Brazil, he resided in Highlands, Middletown and Long Branch most of his life. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service, Long Branch. Prior to that, he worked at Bendix Aviation, Eatontown, for several years. He enjoyed collecting World War II historical data and making models. He was predeceased by his mother, Airtes D. Hawley; and a sister, Suzette M. Hawley. He is survived by his father, Dudley Hawley of Middletown; a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia L. and Christopher L. Davis of Middletown; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews in Brazil. Visitation will be Oct. 29 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral service will be held Oct. 30 at 10 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Red Bank. Interment

Pauline Safka Bertolo
Mrs. Bertolo, 77, of Long Branch died Nov. 9 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Chelsea, Mass., she resided in Queens, N.Y., before moving to Long Branch 35 years ago. She was the proprietor of Paint-in-Place, Eatontown, for 25 years, retiring in 1985. She was also a recording artist, and sang jazz and blues with her husband. She was a volunteer at the Fort Monmouth Thrift Shop, and received the Volunteer of the Year Award. Mrs. Bertolo is survived by her husband of 35 years, Salvatore P. Bertolo; two daughters, Melanie Schekeryk of Florida and Stephanie Safka of White Hall, N.Y.; a brother, George E. Altomare of Long Branch; a sister, Jeanne Iarrobino of Carmel, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Arrangements were by Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch. Internment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
Florence Marie Faustmann
Mrs. Faustmann, 87, of Howell died Oct. 25 at home. Born in Newark, she resided in Colts Neck for 40 years before moving to Howell in 1998. Before her retirement, Mrs. Faustmann was a clerk at Prudential Insurance, Newark, and a sales associate at various retail stores for several years. She attended Colts Neck Reformed Church, where she also taught Sunday school. She was predeceased by her husband, August George Faustmann, in 2000. She is survived by two sons, Robert A. Faustmann Sr. of Penns Park, Pa., and Christopher L. Faustmann of the Wanamassa section of Ocean Township; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Interment
was at Shoreland Memorial Park, Hazlet. Arrangements were by C.H.T. Clayton & Son Funeral Home, Adelphia.
Margaret Brancato Mincieli
Mrs. Mincieli, 88, of Long Branch died Nov. 3 at home. Born in New York City, she resided in Long Branch for 38 years. She was a parishioner at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. She was a member of the Long Branch Seniors. Mrs. Mincieli was predeceased by her husband, Dominic Mincieli. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Anthony Mincieli of Long Branch, Eugene and Frances Mincieli of Bayonne, and Andrew and Carol Mincieli of Albany, N.Y.; two sisters, Josephine Marra of West Long Branch and Mary Mango of Lakewood; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Interment
