Mr. Helwig, 82, of the Belford section of Middletown, died Oct. 4 at home. He resided in Cranford and Florida prior to moving to Belford 18 months ago. He was a retired jeweler. Mr. Helwig was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Helwig. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Dave Ritter; a son, Roger Scott Helwig of Dania, Fla.; and three grandchildren. Ferdinand "Freddy" Robles
Mr. Robles, 52, of Matawan died Oct. 1 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. He was born in Puerto Rico. He was a technical engineer at Gerber Scientific Co., Windsor, Conn. He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He was predeceased by his father, Raul Robles. He is survived by his wife, Everlidys Hernandez Robles of Matawan; his daughter, Claryssa Robles of Matawan; his mother, Fernanda Robles of Puerto Rico; and his brother, George Robles of Brooklyn, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church, Matawan. Interment
was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by Bedle Funeral Home, Matawan.
Mary Frances Mastro Guarriello
Mrs. Guarriello of the Locust section of Middletown died Oct. 4 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was the founder of the Vincent S. Mastro Montessori Academy, Little Silver. She was predeceased by her brother, Vincent S. Mastro. Mrs. Guarriello is survived by her husband, Vincent J. Guarriello; a sister, Madeline Mastro; a niece and three nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands. Entombment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery

John A. Salatino
Mr. Salatino, 75, of Middletown died Oct. 1 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Red Bank, he resided in Middletown the past 47 years. He was a retired butcher at Foodtown, Red Bank, where he was employed for 24 years. Prior to that, he worked at A&P, Little Silver, for 20 years, and Dearborn Farms, Holmdel, for five years. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the commissioner of the Middletown Recreation Commission and a Republican County committeeman in Red Bank and Middletown for 28 years. He was a charter member of the Middletown Elks. He was predeceased by his wife, Emily Paige Salatino in 2000; four sisters, Gemma Gelso, Mary Ambrosino, Edith Grandinetti and Rose Levi; and a brother, Leonard Salatino. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Jack Olsen of Long Branch; his brother, Victor Salatino of Red Bank; and one grandson. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
Rita O’Brien Cwalina
Mrs. Cwalina, 84, of Hazlet died Oct. 2 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in New York City, she resided in Sayreville prior to moving to Hazlet. She was a nurse before her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Stanlislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Church, Sayreville. Mrs. Cwalina was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Cwalina, in 1974; and a son, Bruce Cwalina, in 1993. She is survived by two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements were by Kurzawa Funeral Home, Sayreville.
Katherine Hines
Mrs. Hines, 84 of Narragansett, R.I., and formerly of Matawan, died Sept. 19 at South Bay Manor, South Kingstown, R.I. Born in Rockland Lake, N.Y., she resided in Florida and Matawan prior to moving to South County, R.I., in 1997. She was a retired executive secretary to Salvatore Costa, founder of Costa Ice Cream, N.J., for 35 years. She was a communicant of St. Thomas More Church, Narragansett, and a member of its hospitality committee. Her memberships included Seniors Helping Others and the Narragansett Seniors, of which she was a former treasurer. She is survived by her sister, Wilhelmina H. Roda of Garrison, N.Y.; and two nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was at St. Thomas More Church, Narragansett. Burial was at Germond’s Cemetery, New City, N.Y. Hector R. Maldonado
Mr. Maldonado, 56, of Keyport died Oct. 7 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. He was born in New York City. Mr. Maldonado was a banker at J.P. Morgan Chase, Brooklyn, N.Y., for 28 years, retiring in 2002. He was predeceased by his father, Roberto Maldonado; and a brother, Edwin Maldonado. He is survived by his wife, Cathy Parker Maldonado; three sons, William Maldonado of New York, and Derek and Cory Maldonado, both of Keyport; three daughters, Lisa Reese of New York, and Kirsten and Dana Maldonado, both of Keyport; his mother, Flor Dé America Maldonado of Ridgefield Park; three sisters, Sonia Lopez, Yvonne Childress and Miriam Walker; a brother, Steven Maldonado; and three grandchildren. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Steven D. Domenick
Mr. Domenick, 50, of Aberdeen died Oct. 7 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Angola, Ind., he resided in Jersey City and the Fords section of Woodbridge prior to moving to Aberdeen in 1979. He was sales manager, motor fuels sales at Amerada Hess, Woodbridge, for 30 years. He coached baseball and soccer for leagues in Matawan and Aberdeen. He enjoyed time with his family, bowling, and golf. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Kramer Domenick; his parents, Samuel and Honey Kopf Domenick of Fords; three daughters and one son, Jennifer, Stephanie, Samantha and Bryan Domenick, all at home; a brother and sister-in-law, Jeffrey and Michele Domenick of Wall; and a sister, Suzy Domenick of Freehold. Interment

Patricia Curialle
Mrs. Curialle, 35, of Freehold died Oct. 5 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Louisiana, she resided in Manalapan before moving to Freehold in 1978. Until 2002, she was employed as a deputy tax assessor for the township of Manalapan. She was a member of the Kaos team of the Freehold Area women’s softball league. She was also a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold. She was predeceased by her mother, Shirley McCawley. Surviving are her husband, Michael; two sons, Michael J. Jr. and Dylan J., at home; her father, Thomas A. McCawley of Howell; five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Michael and Noel McCawley of Florida, Timothy and Valerie McCawley of Middletown, Matthew and Suzanne McCawley of Jackson, and John and Thomas McCawley, both of Matawan; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Kathleen and John Lockwood of Millstone and Susan and Gerry Henderson of Manalapan; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan. Cremation was private, The Freeman Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.
