Ann Bonder Pepia
Mrs. Pepia, 91, of Keyport died Sept. 24 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Solvay, N.Y., she resided in Hazlet prior to moving to Keyport seven years ago. Mrs. Pepia was a dressmaker. She was a communicant of St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. She was predeceased by her husband, John Pepia, in 1984, and a son, John Pepia, in 1999. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Rose Pepia of Mount Pocono, Pa.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lorraine and Joseph Kazmac of Aberdeen, and Gail and Iggy Imbro of Keyport, with whom she resided; a sister, Lillian Lotito of Hackettstown; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. Interment
was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. Arrangements were under the direction of Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Patricia J. Ludington Baron
Mrs. Baron, 63, of the Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge died Oct. 6 in Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Prior to her retirement in 1991, she was employed at MCC Data Entry, Aberdeen, where she worked for five years. Her husband, Joseph L. Baron, died in 1982. Surviving are a son, Joseph Baron of Edison, and a daughter, Nancy Baron of Laurence Harbor. Arrangements were under the direction of Day Funeral Home, Keyport. Cremation was private.
Dawn Marie Florence Bonczek
Mrs. Bonczek, 35, of Virginia Beach, Va., and formerly Old Bridge, died Oct. 8 in Keyport. Born in Middletown, N.Y., she resided in Old Bridge before moving to Virginia Beach more than a year ago. Mrs. Bonczek was a self-employed hairdresser. She was predeceased by her father, Edward Florence, this year. She is survived by her husband, Paul Bonczek of Virginia Beach; her mother, Arline Turner of Keyport; a sister, Debra Steele of Fort Myers, Fla.; and a brother, Edward Warnock of Cape Coral, Fla. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Nicole A. Oliva
Nicole Oliva, 11, of Middletown died Oct. 8 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Long Island, N.Y., she resided in Middletown the past seven years. Nicole was a student at Thorne Middle School, Middletown. She is survived by her parents, Joseph and Cristina Meriles Oliva of Middletown; a brother, Michael Oliva of Middletown; her grandfather, Guillermo Meriles of LaPaz, Bolivia; her grandmother, Anne T. Oliva of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and her godmother. The John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements.
Frank DiGennaro
Mr. DiGennaro, 82, of Matawan died Oct. 13 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in New York, he relocated to Matawan 40 years ago. He was a documentation manager at Naverias, Port Elizabeth, retiring in 1990. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Natalie DiGennaro; his son, Nicholas DiGennaro of Matawan; his daughter, Ann Thompson of Howell; two sisters, Rose Cardella of Courtland Manor, N.Y., and Teresa Luca of Somers, N.Y.; and two granddaughters. Visitation will be Oct. 15 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Holmdel Funeral Home, A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Oct. 16 at 11:15 a.m. at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. Entombment will be at Holmdel Cemetery.
Charlotte M. Rounds
Mrs. Rounds, 87, of Tinton Falls died Oct. 5 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge Division. Born in Howell, she resided in Aberdeen prior to moving to Tinton Falls three years ago. She was a homemaker and co-proprietor with her husband of Highway Garage, Colts Neck and Matawan, until 1963. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles A. Rounds, in 1989; and a daughter, Joyce McGee, in 1998. She is survived by her son, Charles A. Rounds of Tinton Falls; two daughters, Darcy Sullivan of Half Moon Bay, Calif., and Frances Rounds of Kansas City, Mo.; her brother, Willard Conk of Vero Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Oct. 8 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at C.H.T. Clayton & Son Funeral Home, Adelphia. A funeral service will be held Oct. 9 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at Holmdel Cemetery.
Louis G. Rotondella
Mr. Rotondella, 81, of the Belford section of Middletown, died Aug. 3 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Hoboken, he resided in Jersey City prior to moving to Belford in 1973. He was a diesel mechanic at Howland Hook, Staten Island, N.Y., for 35 years, retiring in 1986. He served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179, Middletown; American Legion No. 338, Leonardo section of Middletown; the International Longshoremen’s Association Local No. 1804, New York City; and the Order of the Purple Heart. He was predeceased by his wife, Anna Rotondella in 1986; a son, John Rotondella in 2000; his brother, Anthony Rotondella; and a granddaughter, Kerri Rotondella. He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Louis A. and Elizabeth Rotondella of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, and Mark Rotondella of Belford; his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Angelo DiVirgilio of the West Keansburg section of Hazlet; his sister, Mary Reed of Port Monmouth; his brother, Frank Rotondella of Keansburg; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Burial was at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
Sophie "Sonia" Onieal
Mrs. Onieal, 77, of Hazlet died Sept. 30 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Bayonne, she resided in Jersey City prior to moving to Hazlet in 1959. She was predeceased by her husband, John Onieal in 1991. She is survived by two sons, John Onieal of Middletown, and Mark Onieal of Pleasanton, Calif.; her daughter, Gail Onieal; her sister, Lorretta Derewicz of Dunellen; her brother, Michael Karkut of Bayonne; and her sister, Josephine Czejki of Brandford, Conn. Mr. Stockel, 68, of Matawan died Sept. 28 at home. Born in Metuchen, he resided there prior to moving to Matawan 40 years ago. He was an attorney in private practice. He served as president of the Middlesex County Bar Association from 1973-74; secretary of the New Jersey Supreme Court Ethics Committee; and special deputy attorney general in the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. He was also the attorney for the Matawan Planning Board and Aberdeen PBA Local No. 163. His memberships included the New Jersey State Bar Association, Middlesex County Bar Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He was a recipient of the New Jersey State PBA Silver Life Card for his dedication and the work he performed for the PBA. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, travel and horse racing. He was predeceased by his wife, Gail Brennan Stockel in 1999. He is survived by two sons, Capt. John B. Stockel, USN/MC of Woodstock, Md., and Kevin B. Stockel of Boynton Beach, Fla.; his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon A. and Steven McCoy of Matawan; and seven grandchildren. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Richard L. Pannell
Mr. Pannell, 83, of Aberdeen died Sept. 28 at home. Born in East Orange, he resided there prior to moving to Aberdeen 22 years ago. He was a certified public accountant at the American Institute, New York City. He also taught accounting at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, and at Monmouth University, West Long Branch. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a communicant of St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel, where he also served on its finance committee. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Pugsley. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Lillian Walicka Pannell of Aberdeen. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Benedict’s Church. was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
