Mrs. Frances Thornton, 86, of Union died yesterday in the Delaire Nursing Home, Linden.
A Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Spirit Church, Union, after the funeral from the McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union.
Mrs. Thornton was employed by the Millburn Board of Education for 20 years before retiring in 1981.
She was a member of the Holy Spirit Rosarians and the New Direction Club, both of Holy Spirit Church. She was also a member of the 60-Plus Club, Union.
Born in Baltimore, Mrs. Thornton lived in Irvington before moving to Union 20 years ago.
Surviving are a daughter, Connie Maker; sisters, Angelina Gossman and Rose Schaech, and two grandchildren.
Leslie A. Jordan Jr., 63, volunteer firefighter

A Mass for Leslie A. Jordan Jr., 63, of Roselle Park will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the Church of the Assumption, Roselle Park, after the funeral from the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Ave., Roselle Park.
Mr. Jordan died Friday in Union Hospital.
He was a pressman for the New York Times for 43 years.
He served in the Army during peacetime.
Mr. Jordan was a volunteer fireman and arson investigator for the Roselle Park Volunteer Fire Department Center Hose Co. for more than 20 years.
He was a member of the New Jersey Exempt Firemens Association, a past grand knight with Knights of Columbus Council 3240, Roselle Park, and a scout master with Boy Scout Troop 56, Roselle Park. Mr. Jordan was a member of the Interfaith Council on Feeding the Homeless with the Church of the Assumption.
Born in Queens, he moved to Roselle Park 35 years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Amelia; a son, Jeremy; daughters, Lisa Webster, Michele Lane, Freida Turner and Danielle; a brother, William; a sister, Janie Ricks; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Antoinette Faliveno

A Mass for Mrs. Antoinette Faliveno, 75, of Toms River will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Anthonys Church, Belleville, after the funeral from the LaMonica Memorial Home, 299 Bloomfield Ave., Bloomfield.
Mrs. Faliveno died Friday in Community Medical Center, Toms River.
Born in Newark, she moved to Toms River three years ago.
Surviving are a daughter, Roseanna Capaccio; sons, John and Frank J. Jr.; brothers, Joseph, John and Italo Perrotta; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Chester J. Skiba Sr., 81, had Stanhope funeral home

Services are private for Chester J. Skiba Sr., 81, of Panther Valley, who died Monday in the Somerset Medical Center, Somerville.
Arrangements are by the Norman Dean Home for Funerals, Denville.
Mr. Skiba owned and operated the Pichi Funeral Home, Stanhope, before retiring in 1987.
He served in the Navy Seabees during World War II as a first class shipfitter. He saw action in the invasions of Sicily, Salerno and Normandy.
Mr. Skiba was a life-member of the Stanhope American Legion and the Netcong Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2347. He also was a member of the Navy Seabee Veterans of America, Red Bank.
He was a fourth degree knight with the Joyce Kilmer Knights of Columbus Council 2483, Hackettstown.
Born in Union City, he lived in Stanhope and Lakehurst before moving to Panther Valley.
Surviving are a son, Dr. Chester J. Skiba Jr.; a daughter, Elaine Anderson, and three grandchildren.
Manuel Santos

A Mass for Manuel Santos, 48, of Kearny will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Francis Xavier Church, Newark, after the funeral from the Shaw-Buyus Home for Services, 138 Davis Ave., Kearny.
Mr. Santos died Friday in New York Presbyterian Hospital.
He was an electrician for the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Newark, for 22 years.
Born in Pombal, Portugal, he lived in Newark before moving to Kearny.
Surviving are his wife, Maria Arlinda, and daughters, Amanda Tiffany, Jenny Nicole and Jessica Christina.
