John H. Phillips Sr.

Services for John H. Phillips Sr., 79, of Jersey City will be at 9 a.m. tomorrow in the McLaughlin Funeral Home, 625 Pavonia Ave., Jersey City.
Mr. Phillips, who died Saturday in the Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel, was a meat cutter for 30 years with the A&P; Co. in Jersey City before retiring in 1980.
He was a chief petty officer with the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Phillips was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, the Jersey City Senior Citizens Center and the American Legion Beacon Post 419 in Jersey City, where he served as commander in 1999.
Born in Pennsylvania, he lived in Jersey City for many years.
Surviving are a son, John Jr.; a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Loftus; brothers, Paul, Earl and Lester; sisters, Carrie, Sarah and Edna, and six grandchildren.
Mary M. Perret

A Mass for Mrs. Mary M. Perret, 79, a lifelong resident of Union, will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow in St. Joseph’s Church, Maplewood, after the funeral from the McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union.
Mrs. Perret died Saturday in Overlook Hospital, Summit.
She was a legal secretary/supervisor at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Newark from 1973 until 1988 when she retired.
A member of the Garden Club, Union, Mrs. Perret also belonged to the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Patricia, and the Rosary Society and Senior Rainbow Club, both at St. Joseph’s Church.
Born in Newark, she is survived by sons, Gerard, Charles and Henry; a sister, Mrs. Josephine Biel, and eight grandchildren.
Frank A. Pruss

A Mass for Frank A. Pruss, 51, of Piscataway will be scheduled on Thursday at Sacred Heart Church, Plainfield, after the funeral from the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords.
Mr. Pruss, who died Sunday in the Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center, Plainfield, was a surveyor at Murphy-Hallows Associates, Stirling, before retiring.
He was a coach with the Piscataway Little League.
Born in New Brunswick, Mr. Pruss lived in Piscataway for 16 years.
Surviving are Diane, his wife of 18 years; sons, Christopher F. and Adam J., and his parents, Ann and James Moore.
Aaron Calland

Services for Aaron Calland, 70, of Linden will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Guiding Star United Holy Church, Roselle. Arrangements are by G.G. Woody Funeral Home, Roselle.
Mr. Calland, who died Thursday at home, was a forklift operator and assembler at General Motors Corp., Linden, for 32 years before retiring in 1993.
After retiring, he was a security guard at the Nilson Detective Agency in Elizabeth for three years.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
Born in Gretna, Va., Mr. Calland lived in Linden for 37 years.
Surviving are his wife, Raco; a daughter, Santochia; sons, Joseph Aaron and Gerrod; sisters, Evangelist Madeline Gass, Mrs. Minnie Mitchell and Mrs. Ora Rogers; brothers, Elmer, Rev. Pearl Jr., Thomas Lee, Jessie and Clifton, and 12 grandchildren.
Sarah Strauss

Mrs. Sarah Strauss, 61, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died yesterday in the Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division.
Services will be at 8 o’clock tomorrow evening in the Gundrum Service “Home for Funerals,” 237 Bordentown Ave., South Amboy.
Mrs. Strauss was a telemarketer for 10 years with C.D.T. in Parlin.
Born in South Amboy, she lived in the Parlin section of Sayreville for 10 years.
Surviving are sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Huguenin, Mrs. Mary Spencer and Leanne, and a brother, Robert.
Donald Stiles

Donald Stiles, 78, a lifelong resident of Nutley, died yesterday at home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley.
Mr. Stiles was a sheet metal worker for Denman and Davis, Clifton, for 35 years before retiring 13 years ago.
Surviving is a brother, Kenneth.
