Elaine S. Goellner

Mrs. Goellner, 91, of Red Bank, died April 29, 2007, at Chapin Hill, Red Bank. Born in Irvington, she resided in Maplewood prior to retiring to Toms River. She was a retired mortgage clerk at Crestmont Savings, Maplewood. She was a former member of the Business and Professional Women's Club of Maplewood. She was a volunteer at Deborah Hospital, Browns Mills. She enjoyed bridge, and travel. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward F. Goellner. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward F. and Jill A. Goellner Jr. of Randolph, and Gene H. and Pinky Goellner of Red Bank; and two grandchildren. Interment was at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to Meridian Hospice, 4900 Route 33, Suite 200, Neptune 07753.

Paul J. O'Donnell

Mr. O'Donnell, 55, of Rumson and Seaside Park, died April 19, 2007, at home. Born in Madison, he resided in San Diego, Calif., prior to relocating to New Jersey. He was a litigation specialist at York Insurance Co., Freehold, and was involved in the insurance industry for more than 30 years. He was an avid surfer and traveled worldwide to pursue surfing. He was predeceased by his father, John J. O'Donnell; and a sister, Maureen. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Lewis O'Donnell; two sons, Murphy and Jake O'Donnell, both of Rumson; his mother, Dorothy O'Donnell of Madison; three brothers, Jack of Frankford, Ky., Kevin of New York City, and Robert of Madison; two sisters, Christine of Lambertville, and Mary Ann of Basking Ridge; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson. Arrangements were by Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to Quarters for a Cure, c/o Admansville Elementary School Fourth Grades, 400 Union Ave., Bridgewater 08807-3109.

Edward William "Chip" Wise III

Mr. Wise, 62, of Fair Haven, died April 22, 2007, at home. He resided in Red Bank and Rumson prior to relocating to Fair Haven. He was a security guard at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, retiring in 1997. He is survived by his good friend, Ilse Hathaway. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.

Robert Joseph Holiday Sr.

Mr. Holiday, 72, of Red Bank, died April 17, 2007 at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center, New Brunswick, following a lengthy battle with a medical condition. He was a lifelong resident of Red Bank. He was a freelance sign painter. Prior to that, he was employed at the New Jersey Highway Authority, Maintenance Division for several years, retiring in 1972. He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He was a member of Red Bank Fire Department for more than 50 years, serving as its chief in 1985. He served as a New Jersey State Fireman's Delegate. He was Democratic County Committeeman in his district in the 1970s, and was a past president of the Red Bank Democratic Club. His memberships included the International Fire Chief's Association, Monmouth County Fire Chief's Association, Red Bank Fire Prevention Bureau, and Fireman's Relief Association. He enjoyed classic cars. He is survived by his wife, Arlene Pelella Holiday; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert J. and Denise Holiday Jr., and Joseph R. Holiday and Marylin Phillips, all of Red Bank; a daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and James Macaluso of Red Bank; a sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Kenneth L. Walker Jr. of Little Silver; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joseph and Sheryl Pelella of Clarksburg, Va.; and six grandchildren. Entombment was at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.

Joan M. Senkewicz

Mrs. Senkewicz, 71, of the Belford section of Middletown, died April 23, 2007, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Newark, she resided in Kearny prior to relocating to Belford in 1959. She and her husband co-owned J's Antiques. She was also employed at JACE Company, and prior to that, was a secretary at Prudential for several years. She was predeceased by a sister, Arlene Grella. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, John J. Senkewicz; two sons and daughters-in-law, John W. and Deirdre Senkewicz of Tinton Falls, and James R. and Dona Senkewicz of Jackson; a brother, Robert Walbroel of Bloomsberg, Pa.; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be April 26 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John W. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral service will be April 27 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to The Monmouth Medical Center Foundation, 300 Second Ave., Long Branch 07740.

Jennie E. Cronin

Mrs. Cronin, 88, of Grapevine, Texas, died April 24, 2007, in Grapevine. born in Ashtabula, Ohio, she relocated to Fair Haven and resided in the Monmouth County area for more than 50 years. She was a retired secretary at Red Bank Catholic High School. Prior to that, she was employed at the FBI. She was a former communicant of Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. She enjoyed gardening and was a former member of the Jersey Shore Rose Society. She also enjoyed bridge, the beach, and travel. She was predeceased by her husband, James R. Cronin; a son, James Cronin; and a sister, Laura Schneider. She is survived by a daughter, Laura Cronin of Southlake, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Susan Cronin of Manlius, N.Y., and Paul and Lisa Cronin of Harrisburg, Pa.; a brother, Paul Hagert of Ohio; and four grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Church of the Nativity. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago IL 60607-7633.

Alan W. McCormick

Mr. McCormick, 76, of Freehold Township, died May 9, 2007, at Bartley Healthcare Nursing & Rehabilitation, Jackson. He was born in Red Bank and had lived there, in Middletown and in Port St. Lucie, Fla., before moving to Freehold in 1999. Prior to retiring in 1985, Mr. McCormick was a program analyst at U.S. Army CECOM (Communications Electronics Command) at Fort Monmouth for more than 30 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in Korea. He was a 1948 graduate of Red Bank High School. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Patricia Noonan McCormick; four sons and three daughters-in-law, David A. and Maureen McCormick of Hackensack, Keith J. and Denise McCormick of Howell, Paul H. McCormick of Zionsville, Pa., and his companion, Debra, and Patrick J. and Sheila McCormick of Farmingdale; a brother and sister-in-law, Howard S. Jr. and Frances McCormick of the Adelphia section of Howell; two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, William and Elna Robinson of Port Orchard, Wis., and John Noonan Jr. of Fair Haven; and seven grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township. Inurnment took place at Holmdel cemetery Mausoleum.

John William Strollo

Mr. Strollo, 95, of Long Branch, died May 14, 2007, at Gateway Care Center, Eatontown. Born in Long Branch, he was a lifelong resident. He was employed in the security department at Monmouth Park Racetrack, Oceanport. Prior to that, he was employed at Joseph Pingitore Inc., and B & B Beverages for more than 45 years prior to retirement. He was a member of Local 472, Millstone, and the Teamsters Union. He was a parishioner and usher at St. Jerome's Roman Catholic Church, West Long Branch. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 335, Long Branch. He enjoyed football, baseball, golf and gardening. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Cantalice Strollo in 2006; a brother, Joseph Strollo; and three sisters, Angelina Graziano, Mildred Stone and Carmella Strollo. He is survived by two sons, Carmen J. Strollo of Freehold, and John R. Strollo of West Long Branch; three daughters and sons-in-law, Carmella and Alfred Caruso of Summerfield, Fla., Marie and John DeVito of the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township, and Helene and Fred Corcione of West Long Branch; a brother, Dominic "Nick" Strollo of Oceanport; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Jerome's Church. Interment was at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. Arrangements were by Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation, Greater New Jersey Chapter, 400 Morris Ave., Denville 07834-1365.

Melinda M. Galatro

Mrs. Galatro, of Red Bank, died May 14, 2007, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Red Bank, she relocated to the Shady Oaks section of Middletown in 1983. Before her retirement, Mrs. Galatro was employed at Colorest, Red Bank. Prior to that, during the 1930s, she was a seamstress at Wilhelmina Dobbins and worked at the law office of Florence Forgotson, both Red Bank. She was also a secretary at Bendix Radio during World War II. She was a parishioner at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Mrs. Galatro was predeceased by her husband, William Galatro; a granddaughter, Cara Galatro; two brothers, Vito and Pete; and a sister, Mary Cipoletta. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Pam Galatro, and Richard and Debbie Galatro, all of the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township; and two granddaughters. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Anthony's Church, followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey, Attn. Development Office, 141 Bodman Place, Red Bank 07701.
