Emil Louis Jakubecy

Mr. Jakubecy, 91, of Gastonia, N.C., died April 9, 2007, at Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gastonia. He resided in Little Silver, Fair Haven and Middletown prior to relocating to Gastonia. He was vice president at Commercial Investment Trust, New York City, retiring after 42 years. He was a former communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He was a life member of Red Bank Elks Lodge No. 233, member of Fair Haven Lions Club, member of the Fair Haven Fire Department for more than 50 years, former president of Fair Haven Board of Education, and Troop Leader for Boy Scout Troop 24, Fair Haven. He was predeceased by his first wife of 32 years, Anna Sinica Jakubecy; his wife of 35 years, Edna Handley Jakubecy in 2006; and two brothers, Carl and Bill. He is survived by two sons, James J. of Lake Wylie, S.C., and Richard E. of Dunwoody, Ga.; a stepson, Tim Strachan of Holmdel; a stepdaughter, Susan Palmer of Lakewood; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Entombment was at Fair View cemetery Mausoleum, Middletown. Arrangements were by Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to Red Bank Elks Lodge No. 233, Front Street, Red Bank 07701; or Fair Haven Fire Department, River Road, Fair Haven 07704.

John Van Kirk Jr.

Mr. Van Kirk, 85, of Little Silver, died March 12, 2007, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He resided in Middletown prior to relocating to Little Silver in 1951. He and his wife owned and operated John Van Kirk & Son Monuments, Middletown. He served with the Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Expeditionary Forces (SHAEF) under the command of Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower during World War II. He was a lifelong member and trustee of First Baptist Church, Red Bank. A graduate of Rutgers University, New Brunswick, he was a member of the Loyal Sons of Rutgers. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Lupton Van Kirk; a son and daughter-in-law, John Lupton and Wendy Van Kirk of Stratford, Conn.; a daughter, Carol Anne Van Kirk of Middletown; and three grandchildren. A funeral service will be March 15 at 11 a.m. at Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to VNA of Central Jersey, Development Office, 141 Bodman Place, Red Bank 07701.

Bridget Mary Clancy

Mrs. Clancy, 94, of Red Bank, died March 11, 2007, at home. Born in Banteer, County Cork, Ireland, she resided in Lakewood for 30 years, prior to relocating to Red Bank in 2000. She was a communicant of St. James roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick Clancy in 1969; and a son-in-law, Paul Corboy in 2005. she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James and Elaine Clancy of Hicksville, N.Y.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia Corboy of Fair Haven, and Eileen and Charles Crawford of Wellesley, Mass.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. James Church. Interment was at Mount St. Mary's Cemetery, Flushing, N.Y. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to St. James Roman Catholic Church, 94 Broad St., Red Bank 07701.

Evangelia "Lia" Floratos

Mrs. Floratos, 83, of Red Bank, died Feb. 12, 2007, at home. She and her late husband co-owned The Sulky Restaurant, Colts Neck, and The Freehold Grill and Shrewsbury Diner prior to that. She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Asbury Park. She was predeceased by her husband, Angelos in 2000. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Alex and Dionysia Floratos of Fort Lee; two brothers, Angelos and Ray Marinakis of Vancouver, British Columbia; and two granddaughters. A funeral service was held at St. George's Church, with interment at the church's cemetery. Arrangements were by Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank.

James F. Morton

Mr. Morton, 63, of Red Bank, died Feb. 26, 2007, at Chapin Hill at Red Bank. Born in New York City, he resided in Keansburg, and the West Keansburg section of Hazlet before relocating to Red Bank. Mr. Morton was a truck driver with the Teamsters, retiring in 1992. He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1973, and Moose Lodge, both Keansburg. He is survived by his mother, Myrtle Morton of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown; a daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and William Morton-Copp of Hazlet; five brothers, Arthur Morton of Whiting, Robert Morton of California, Jerry Morton of Keansburg, Kenneth Samler of Pennsylvania, and George Samler of Michigan; and five sisters, Roberta Grieco and AnnMarie Raby, both of Connecticut; and Eleanor Haltner, Judy McDonald and Patricia Wilkie, all of Fairview.

Joseph N. Napurano

Mr. Napurano, 65, of East Brunswick, died Feb. 27, 2007, at home. Born in Newark, he resided in East Brunswick the past 37 years. He was an engineering technician at Naval Weapons Station, Earle, Colts Neck, retiring in 2005. He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a communicant of Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, South River. He was predeceased by his father, Anthony Napurano; and a brother, Michael Napurano. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sylvia Kucharski Napurano; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Natalie of Stewartsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Peter McPartland of Tinton Falls; his mother, Virginia Napurano of the Colonia section of Woodbridge; and two sisters, Toni Riley of South Plainfield, and Virginia Perez of Allentown. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Corpus Christi Church. Burial was at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Sayreville. Arrangements were by Maliszewski Funeral Home, South River.

Sadie Metz

Mrs. Metz, 88, of Freehold, died March 4, 2007, at home. Born in New York City, she had resided in Freehold for the past 65 years. She was a member of Congregation Agudath Achim, Freehold, and a past president of its Sisterhood. She was also a member of Hadassah. As an active supporter of CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, she volunteered for hospital charity balls and auctions. Mrs. Metz was predeceased by a brother, Paul Gilbert. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, David B. Metz; two sons and daughters-in-law, Martin and Laura Metz of Monroe, and Larry and Paula Metz of Colts Neck; a daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine and Dr. Jeffrey Roffman of Little Silver; a sister, Evelyn Blumenthal of San Francisco; nine grandchildren and their five spouses; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at the Hebrew Benefit Society Cemetery, Freehold Township. Memorial donations may be made to the CentraState Medical Center Foundation, 916 Route 33, Suite 6, Freehold 07728; or Congregation Agudath Achim, 59 Broad St., Freehold 07728.

Richard John Jehn

Mr. Jehn, 65, of Manalapan, died April 4, 2007, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Milwaukee, he had lived in Hazlet for 23 years before moving to Manalapan 16 years ago. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, Englishtown. Mr. Jehn was a Monmouth County corrections officer in Freehold for 20 years before retiring in 2000 with the rank of sergeant. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a former member of the Hazlet Volunteer Fire Company. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Marie; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Gina of Tinton Falls; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Lee Salisbury of South Brunswick, and Kathy Lynn and Michael Downey of Aberdeen; a brother, James of Florida; two sisters, JoAnn Brandao of Hazlet and Susan Strocker of Milwaukee; and seven grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, followed by interment at Shoreland Cemetery, Hazlet.

Joan M. Senkewicz

Mrs. Senkewicz, 71, of the Belford section of Middletown, died April 23, 2007, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Newark, she resided in Kearny prior to relocating to Belford in 1959. She and her husband co-owned J's Antiques. She was also employed at JACE Company, and prior to that, was a secretary at Prudential for several years. She was predeceased by a sister, Arlene Grella. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, John J. Senkewicz; two sons and daughters-in-law, John W. and Deirdre Senkewicz of Tinton Falls, and James R. and Dona Senkewicz of Jackson; a brother, Robert Walbroel of Bloomsberg, Pa.; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be April 26 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John W. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral service will be April 27 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to The Monmouth Medical Center Foundation, 300 Second Ave., Long Branch 07740.

Paul J. O'Donnell

Mr. O'Donnell, 55, of Rumson and Seaside Park, died April 19, 2007, at home. Born in Madison, he resided in San Diego, Calif., prior to relocating to New Jersey. He was a litigation specialist at York Insurance company, Freehold, and involved in the insurance industry for more than 30 years. He was an avid surfer and traveled worldwide to pursue surfing. He was predeceased by his father, John J. O'Donnell; and a sister, Maureen. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Lewis O'Donnell; two sons, Murphy and Jake O'Donnell, both of Rumson; his mother, Dorothy O'Donnell of Madison; three brothers, Jack of Frankford, of Ky., Kevin of New York City, and Robert of Madison; two sisters, Christine of Lambertville, and Mary Ann of Basking Ridge; and several nieces and nephews. AF Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson. Arrangements were by Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to Quarters for a Cure, c/o Admansville Elementary School Fourth Grades, 400 Union Ave., Bridgewater 08807-3109.
