Garretson Battles and the late Herbert A. Battles, devoted brother of Tonda Lee and the late Muriel, Ellis and Vernon Battles, grandfather of eight grandchildren, great-grandfather of five, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. D'ADDONA - Lena , 81, of Byram Township, N.J., formerly of Bronx, N.Y., on Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999, beloved wife of the late Vincent D'Addona and mother of Lawrence D'Addona, Marie Venes and Vincent D'Addona, grandmother of Eric Gajdek, Brian Gajdek and Ariel D'Addona. Lena lived in Bronx, N.Y., all her life and moved to Byram Township with her daughter, Marie Venes, in 1994. She is the widow of Vincent D'Addona, a professional lithographer and director of the ALA-MLA School in Manhattan. He was a combat decorated veteran of World War II, serving in the Ninth Infantry Division in North Africa.
