RUDNICKA - Helena, died Aug. 17, 1999, in Point Pleasant Hospital, at age 84, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Helena (Rabcewicz) Rudnicka graduated from the Polish School of Midwives. She was a registered nurse in Brzesc Nad Bugem, mobilized by the Polish Army, where she worked in a field hospital. She came to the United States in 1948 and worked 25 years at Ellis and St. Clare's Hospital in Schenectady, N.Y. She was a member of the Polish Army Veteran's Association, the Polish National Alliance, Polish Cultural Foundation, Polish Children's Heartline, Jersey Shore Polish American Association. In 1993, Helena was awarded the Military Decoration of the Battle Cross of the Polish Armed Forces in the West. She is the only female recipient of this award as a registered nurse, serving in France and England during World War II. Helena also received the Polish Defense of War Medal in September, 1939, the Silver Cross of Merit, Silver Treasury Medal and Haller's Swords. Helena's personal accomplishments also include her talented artwork and gardening, but her greatest attribute was her kindness and compassion. Helena is preceded in death by her daughter, Christine (1956-1981). Helena is survived by her beloved husband, Richard, whom she married in August, 1940, in London, England, her loving children, son, Edward, three daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Kenneth Crabb of Tarpon Springs, Fla., Jadwiga and Roger Siara of Florham Park, N.J., Marie and Robert and Castiglia of Albany, N.Y., six grandchildren, David R. Capan of Pittsburgh, Pa., Richard M. Capan of Belleville, Ill., Steven F. Capan of Randolph, N.J., Stephen and Krystyna Siara of Florham Park, N.J., and Christina Castiglia of Albany, N.Y. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Heather, David III, Zachary and Emily Capan. Visitation hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 20, 1999, at VAN HISE & CALLAGAN LEBER FUNERAL HOME, 812 Arnold Ave., Point Pleasant Beach, N.J. 08742. A Solemn Mass will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, 1999, at 8 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, 406 Norman Ave., Point Pleasant Beach, N.J. Interment
will be held at St. Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, Pa., at 1 p.m. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.
