Edward Frank Kennedy
Mr. Kennedy, 87, of South Amboy, died Dec. 24, 2006, at home. Prior to his retirement in 1984, he was employed as a welder with Jersey Central Power and Light Co., South Amboy, where he worked for 39 years. His wife, Jennie Paladino Kennedy, died in 2004. Surviving are two daughters, Maureen Kappes of Yonkers, N.Y., and Lorraine Kennedy of Little Silver; and two granddaughters. Services were held at Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy. Interment
was in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown section of North Hanover.
Robert J. Talian
Mr. Talian, 84, of Middletown, died Dec. 18, 2007, at home. Born in Bayonne, he resided in Roselle Park prior to relocating toMiddletown 50 years ago. He was a carpenter at Exxon Corp., Linden, for more than 40 years, retiring in 1982. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a communicant at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Talian; and a sister, Audrey Talian. He is survived by his wife, Marie Terczak; five daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Gregory Fitzgerald of Middletown, Karen and Gary Fitzgerald of Fair Haven, Susan and Robert Warncke of the Lincroft section of Middletown, Sharon Talian of Tinton Falls, and Marie Talian of New York City; a son and daughter-in-law, Neil and Kim Talian of Virginia; two brothers and three sisters-in-law; William and Phyllis Talian of North Brunswick, Joseph andMarcia Talian of Linden, and Eleanor Talian of South Amboy; and nine grandchildren. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary's Church. Burial
was at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia section of Woodbridge.
Phyllis M. Wapshare Barrett
Mrs. Barrett, 86, of Middletown, died Oct. 17, 2007, at home. Born in Newark, she resided in Hillside, Union and Cranford, prior to relocating to Middletown 51 years ago. She was a member of Middletown Reformed Church, and The Ruth Circle at the church. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Richard Barrett in 2002. She is survived by two daughters and sons-inlaw, Marlys and William H. Potter III of Middletown, and Dorothy and Donald A. Spankuch of Bixby, Okla., two sisters, Hazel Kelly of Little Silver, and Ginger Raimann of Seaside Park; a sister in-law, Helen Grigonis of Belleville; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Middletown Reformed Church. Burial

Nellie Stovall
Mrs. Stovall, 92, of Freehold, died Oct. 20, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was known to everyone as "Aunt Sue." Born in Richmond, Va., she had resided in Red Bank before moving to Freehold in 1938. She was a domestic worker prior to retiring and had previously been employed by Marlboro State Hospital. She was a longtime member of New Beginnings Agape Christian Center in Freehold, formerly the Second Baptist Church, where she served on the usher board for more than 25 years. Mrs. Stovall was predeceased in 1979 by her husband, Alfonza Stovall, and in 1970 by a daughter, Lillie Mae Cooper. Surviving are an adopted daughter, Ella Stroud of Spring Lake; an uncle, Lester Robinson of Virginia Beach, Va.; four grandchildren, Kenneth Ronald Stroud Jr. of Lakewood, Kimberly L. Stroud of Freehold, and Daliah and Gregory Stroud, both of Spring Lake; and a niece and three nephews. Funeral services were held at New Beginnings Agape Christian Center, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
Barbara "Bobbie" Amy Ryder Pidel
Mrs. Pidel, 82, of Little Silver, and Englewood, Fla., died Oct. 26, 2007, at St. Barnabas Hospice Unit, Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Irvington, N.Y., she resided in Cortland Manor, N.Y., prior to relocating to Little Silver in 1967. She was a retired typist for the New York Central Railroad where she was employed five years. Several years ago she was also a professional singer in New York, and a former United Service Organization dancer. Her memberships included Little Silver Historical Society of which she was a former president, Little Silver Women's Club, and Monmouth Museum, Lincroft section of Middletown. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Ryder; and a sister, Evelyn Paulson. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Larry; two sons, Lonnie of Malden, Mass., and Lowell of Clarksville, Md.; three daughters, Lauren Hancock of Point Pleasant, Leanne Cressman of Oceanside, Calif., and Lynne Pidel of New York City; a brother, David Ryder of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; a sister, Teddie Baldwin of Melbourne, Fla.; a half-sister, Patricia Breaux of New Orleans; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Trinity Episcopal Church, Red Bank. Interment

Raymond J. "Butch" Pinto Jr.
Mr. Pinto, 66, of Long Branch, died Oct. 27, 2007, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Neptune Township, he was raised in Freehold, and resided in Sea Bright, Oceanport, prior to relocating to Long Branch. He was a master mechanic, and owned and operated several auto body shops in Freehold before retirement. He is survived by his fiancée, Carolyn E. Paul of Long Branch; and a sister and brotherin law, Kathy and James Weaver of Freehold. Arrangements were by Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold.
Alfred E. Pound
Mr. Pound, 88, of Little Silver, died Oct. 11, 2007. He was a partner and co-owner of Lectro Product Inc., Englishtown. He served with the U.S. Air Force in the Pacific theater during World War II. He was a 50-year member of Little Silver Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 and served as its president, and helped establish the Little Silver First Aid Squad. He was a life member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Workers. He was a 16- year member and president of Little Silver Board of Health Services. He is survived by his wife, Anna Marchant Pound; a sister, Pat Raff Elliott of Manchester; two nieces; and three nephews. A funeral service was held at St. John's Episcopal Church, Little Silver. Loretta Spagnolo Sacco
Mrs. Sacco, 74, of Spring Lake, died Oct. 15, 2007, at home. Born in Fondi, Italy, she resided in Deal before relocating to Spring Lake three years ago. She and her husband owned Sacco's Restaurant in West Long Branch and Deal. She was predeceased by a brother, Luigi Spagnolo, in 1944. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Anthony T. Sacco; a son, Michael A., three daughters and two sons-in-law, Barbara and Nicola Lini, Annah Sacco, and Gina and Pasquale Cuppari; her siblings, Franco, Vincenzo, Carlo, Maria, Concetta, Carmina and Anna; and three grandchildren. Francis P. Scaliti
Mr. Scaliti, 75, of Middletown, died Oct. 11, 2007, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided there before relocating to Middletown 35 years ago. He was chief auditor at Royal Bank of Canada, New York City, for 35 years, retiring in 1987. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown, where he served as a lector. He played softball with the St. Leo Holy Name Society, Lincroft section of Middletown, for 30 years. Mr. Scaliti is survived by his wife, Eileen; three sons, John of Westfield, Mark of Middletown and Matthew of New Brunswick; three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Mark Grewe of Shrewsbury, Coryn and Charles Henry of Hopewell, and Nadine and Ron Jackman of Hazlet; 11 grandchildren; two sistersin law; and a brother-in-law.
