John P. Brennan Jr.
Mr. Brennan, 94, of Rumson, died Oct. 16, 2007, at Imperial Care Center, Neptune. Born in Burlington, he resided in Bloomfield, and Livingston prior to relocating to Rumson. He was a special agent with the IRS for 30 years, and Chief Investigator in the Criminal Justice Department of the New Jersey State Attorney General's Office for 10 years. He served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Retired Office's Association, and a six-year representative for Rumson Senior Citizens Club on the Monmouth County Council. He as predeceased by his first wife, Lydia Meehan Brennan in 1974. He is survived by his wife, Teresa; a son, John P. and Janice Brennan III; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Edmund "Mondo" Talarico
Mr. Talarico, 83, of Red Bank, died Oct. 12, 2007, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Red Bank, he was a lifelong resident. He was a retired cobbler and owned Economy Shore Repair, Red Bank, for 45 years. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps 385th Bombardment Group in England during World War II. He was an avid Mets fan, and enjoyed traveling both to Europe and the United States with his wife. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Catherine Rovito Talarico; two sons and daughters in-law, Emile and Dorothy Talarico of Holmdel, and Vinnie and Mary Talarico of Brick; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Helen Miller
Mrs. Miller, 90, of Neptune and formerly Sea Bright, died Oct. 13, 2007, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. She was predeceased by her husband, John "Jack" in January. She is survived by two sisters, Alma Todt of Orange City, Fla., and Ruth McCarney of Camp Hill, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. at Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank.
W. Alden Anderson Jr.
Mr. Anderson of Fair Haven died Oct. 10, 2007, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was a native of San Francisco. He was a senior vice president at The Bank of New York, where he was employed 34 years, retiring in 1990. Following retirement, he was the first adviser to the Bank of Taiwan, New York Agency, from 1990-96. He was a parishioner at Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. He was a board member of the New York Lung Association, and Family & Children's Service of Monmouth County, Long Branch. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; two sons and one daughter-inlaw, Jeffrey and Lynn Pierce, and Kevin Jennings; a daughter and son-in-law, Christen M. and Thomas Abernethy; and four grandchildren. Dr. Leonard T. Campi
Dr. Campi, 87, of Little Silver, and Fort Lauderdale, Fla., died Oct. 10, 2007, at his home in Little Silver. He was born in Lakewood. He was a retired orthodontist, beginning his practice in 1951 in Asbury Park and later relocating to Red Bank. Prior to that, he was attending orthodontist at Lutheran Hospital Dental Clinic, Brooklyn, N.Y., during his preceptorship. He served with the U.S. Army as a captain in the Dental Corps in Europe in 1951. He was a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, a diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontists, and past president of Monmouth County Dental Society. He was active in forming a professional men's retreat at San Alfonso Retreat House, Long Branch, where he completed 41 annual retreats. He was predeceased by his five brothers, Paul Campi, Dr. John Campi, Rocco Campi, Edward Campi and Victor Campi. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Maryanna Nowan Campi; two sons, Robert L. Campi of Little Silver, and Dr. Gregory G. Campi and his wife, Diane Manfredi of Shrewsbury; a daughter, Carolyn Campi Rosell and her husband Evelio of Miami; and four grandchildren. Margaret M. McNulty Philpott
Mrs. Philpott, 80, of Toms River, died Oct. 10, 2007, at Bey Lea Village, Toms River. Born in Chicago, she resided there prior to relocating to Middletown in 1955 and to Toms River in 1995. Mrs. Philpott was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert F. Philpott; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Peggy and John Bresney of Wharton, Lynn and Dennis O'Neill of Tinton Falls, Robin and Ron Thorne of Manahawkin, and Sherri Philpott of Atlantic Highlands; two sons, Bob Philpott of Toms River and Terry Philpott of Greensboro, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Sidney Rose
Mr. Rose, 88, of Tinton Falls, died Sept. 26 at Renaissance Gardens, Tinton Falls. He resided in Little Silver prior to relocating to Seabrook Village, Tinton alls, three years ago. He was a self-employed artist, designer and sculptor. Prior to that, he owned and operated Texhibits, Newark, for several years. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Esther; and a son, David. Vincent J. Fiske
Mr. Fiske, 91, of Hazlet, died Oct. 1, 2007, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided in the area for 50 years. He was a retired attorney at Transamerica Life Insurance Co., New York City. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was predeceased by a brother; and a sister. He is survived by his wife, Jean Fiske of Hazlet; a son, Gregory Fiske of Tinton Falls; a daughter, Carolyn Olson of California; and three grandchildren. Peter John Pebole
Mr. Pebole, 79, of Monmouth Beach, died Sept. 25, 2007. Born in New York City, he resided in Staten Island, N.Y., prior to relocating to Monmouth Beach in 1993. He was a heating and air conditioning technician and operating engineer at New Jersey Bell, retiring in 1993. He was a communicant of Church of the Precious Blood, Monmouth Beach. He was secretary treasurer of the local International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was also a member, president and treasurer of the Sandpipers of Monmouth Beach. He was predeceased by a sister, Raymonde Bialas. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; two daughters and one son-in-law, Lynn Pebole Shell, and Denise Pebole Morgan and her husband Seldon; a son and daughter-in law, John and Lynn Pebole; eight grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Theresa P. Crescente
Mrs. Crescente, 61, of the Lincroft section of Middletown, died Sept. 26, 2007, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She resided in Ocean Township prior to relocating to Lincroft 15 years ago. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, antiques and baking. She was also a supporter of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Paul; two daughters, Charlene of Frederick, Md. and Judith of Long Branch; a brother, Anthony Vitale of Somerset; a sister, Rose Marie Vitale of Staten Island, N.Y.; and a grandson.
