Services were private for Robert Battenhausen, 62, of Linden, who died Thursday at home. Arrangements were by the Werson Funeral Home, Linden.
Mr. Battenhausen was a warehouseman with Fisher Scientific in Linden for 10 years before retiring in 1995.
He was a member of American Legion Post 470, Kenilworth, Moose Lodge 913, Linden, and Teamsters Union Local 810 of New York City.
Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Battenhausen lived in Avenel before moving to Linden 41 years ago.
John J. Matunas

John J. Matunas, 77, of Edison died yesterday at home.
A Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Saints Peter & Paul Church, Elizabeth, after the funeral from the August F. Schmidt Memorial Funeral Home, 139 Westfield Ave., Elizabeth.
Mr. Matunas owned a variety store in Miramar, Fla., before retiring in 1970.
Earlier, he had been a planning department manager for the General Instrument Corp. in Newark for many years.
Born in Elizabeth, he lived in Kearny, Eynon, Pa., and Miramar before moving to Edison 22 years ago.
Surviving are sons, John J. Matunas Jr. and Darius Donorovich; a daughter, Elaine Bailey, and a brother, Frank J.
Andrew M. Zampella Sr.

A Mass for Andrew M. Zampella Sr., 87, of Stirling will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow in St. Vincent De Paul Cemetery, Stirling, after the funeral from the Valley Memorial Funeral Home, 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette.
Mr. Zampella, who died Friday in Overlook Hospital, Summit, worked in the warehouse of Mack Truck in Bridgewater before retiring. Earlier, he worked for B & E Landscaping in Watchung.
He served as a medic in the Army during World War II, and was awarded the Bronze Star with two oak leaf clusters.
Mr. Zampella was a member of the Long Hill Senior Citizens, the Italian-American Club of North Plainfield and the Holy Name Society of St. Bernard's Church, Plainfield.
Born in Plainfield, he lived in Edison before moving to Stirling 13 years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Josephine; sons, George R. and Andrew M. Jr.; a daughter, Olympia Lang; sisters, Mary Martino, Catherine Toth and Donetta Buono; brothers, Nicholas, Anthony and Phillip; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Carol A. Dodgson

Services for Mrs. Carol A. Dodgson, 60, of Pine Brook will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Farmer Funeral Home, 45 Roseland Ave., Roseland.
Mrs. Dodgson died Friday in Chilton Memorial Hospital, Pompton Plains.
She was a school bus driver for Kevah Konner in Pine Brook for nine years before retiring in 1989.
Mrs. Dodgson was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 61, Caldwell, where she served as matron in 1977. She was also a past treasurer of the Pine Brook Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Born in Orange, she lived in East Orange, Roseland and Caldwell before moving to Pine Brook in 1977.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph L.; sons, Joseph L. Jr., James R., John D. and Jeffrey; a sister, Barbara Spellar; a brother, Paul Koeck, and six grandchildren.
Harold Schantz

Services for Harold Bill Schantz, 87, of Bridgewater will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood.
Mr. Schantz died Saturday in Somerset Medical Center, Somerville.
He was a plant foreman for Purolator Filters in Rahway, where he worked for 44 years before retiring in 1980.
He was a member of the Fanwood Volunteer Fire Department for more than 30 years.
Mr. Schantz served in the Army Medical Corps during World War II.
Born in Kearny, he lived in Fanwood for many years before moving to Bridgewater 15 years ago.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Catherine; daughters, Donna LoStocco and Marilyn Egles, and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Philomena Mary Ryan of New Providence died yesterday in Overlook Hospital, Summit.
A Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Peace Church, 111 South St., New Providence. Arrangements are by the Brough Funeral Home, Summit.
Mrs. Ryan was a member of the Rosary Society of Our Lady of Peace Church.
Born in Tralee, Ireland, she lived in New York before moving to New Providence in 1961.
Surviving are her husband, Juan; daughters, Patricia Wilson, Mary Lou, Teresa and Francisca; sons, Juan Jr. and Michael, and two grandchildren.
