A Mass for Joseph R. Bullock, 66, of Old Bridge will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge, after the funeral from the Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, 3377 Route 9, Old Bridge. Cremation will be private.
Mr. Bullock, who died Tuesday in the Barbara E. Cheung Memorial Hospice, Edison, was a painter with the Painters and Plasterers Union Local District Council 9 in New York City for 42 years before retiring in 1996.
Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Old Bridge for 27 years.
Surviving are his wife, Jean; a son, Robert F.; daughters, Mrs. Paula O’Hallaran and Mrs. Laura Jean Piassek; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Woodford, and 11 grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Central Jersey chapter, 740 Broad St., Shrewsbury, N.J. 07702.
Ruth Blum

Services will be held for Mrs. Ruth Blum, 84, of Knowlton Township, who died Monday at home.
Arrangements are by the Newbaker Funeral Home, Blairstown.
Born in Waukegen, Ill., Mrs. Blum lived in Paramus for 55 years before moving to Knowlton Township in 1999.
Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Dowson.
Philip Zambell

Philip M. Zambell, 50, of Cranford died yesterday at home.
A Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Anne’s Church, Garwood, following the funeral from the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Ave., Cranford.
Mr. Zambell was vice president and general manager of General Office Interiors in Union for 20 years.
He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Shangri-La.
A member of the Roselle Golf Club, Mr. Zambell served as president from 1994 through 1997.
He was a life-member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Captain Newell Rodney Fiske Post 335 of Cranford.
Born in Jersey City, he lived in Winfield Park before moving to Cranford 22 years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Denise; two sons, Christopher and Joseph; a daughter, Megan; his mother, Mrs. Rose Zambell; three brothers, Tony, Jeff and Robert, and two sisters, Mrs. Rosemary Lavin and Mrs. Melissa Sinoradzki.
Bertha K. Wichelhaus

Services for Mrs. Bertha K. Wichelhaus, 95, of Roselle Park will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the Growney Funeral Home, 1070 N. Broad St., Hillside.
Mrs. Wichelhaus died Tuesday in the Del Aire Nursing Home in Linden.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Senior Citizens Club, the Senior Bowling League and the Senior Garden Club, and was past president of the Aldene School Parent-Teacher Association, all in Roselle Park.
Born in Germany, she lived in Roselle Park for 68 years.
Surviving are a son, William W.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Victor Andersen, 91

WINCHESTER, Va. - Victor Andersen, 91, of Slanesville, W.Va., formerly of New Jersey, died here yesterday in Winchester Medical Center.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Ave., Cranford, N.J.
Mr. Andersen was a member of the Roselle Police Department, Roselle, N.J., for 34 years, serving as chief of police for 12 years before retiring in 1973.
He was a member of the New Jersey Police Chiefs Association.
Born in Roselle, he lived there for several years before moving to Slanesville in December.
Surviving are two sons, Raymond and Donald; a sister, Mrs. Augusta Evanuk; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Viola Ashley

A Mass for Mrs. Viola Ashley, 84, of Nutley will be offered at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Nutley. The funeral will be from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley.
Mrs. Ashley, who died Wednesday in the Clara Maass Continuing Care Center, Belleville, was a cafeteria worker for 12 years with the Nutley school system before retiring 16 years ago.
Born in Waterbury, Conn., she lived in Nutley for many years.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Antoinette DeMatteo; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Virginia Pearl Belvedere

Services for Mrs. Virginia Pearl Belvedere, 83, of West Orange will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Episcopal Parish of All Saints’ in West Orange. Arrangements are by the Paul Ippolito Memorial, Orange.
Mrs. Belvedere, who died Wednesday at home, was a cafeteria worker at the Redwood School in West Orange for 20 years before retiring 20 years ago.
Born in Newark, she lived in West Orange for many years.
Surviving are her husband, Anthony; two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Taylor and Mrs. Lynn Belvedere-Strathearn; a son, Dr. Edward Belvedere; three sisters, Mrs. Olive Trautwein, Mrs. Dorothy Long and Mrs. Betty Potts; three brothers, Frederick, LeRoy and Kenneth Hammer, and a grandchild.
