Ruth S. Hagelin

EASTON, Pa. - Mrs. Ruth S. Hagelin, 86, of Union, N.J., a supervisor at the MC Cracken Funeral Home in Union, died here yesterday in the Manor Care Nursing Home.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union.
Mrs. Hagelin, affectionately known as “Ruth at McCracken’s,” was affiliated with the funeral home on a supervisory level since 1952.
During her employment at the funeral home, she assisted generations of local families with funeral needs. Semi-retired for two years, she still remained interested in the funeral home and the needs of the families.
Mrs. Hagelin also was an organist and choir director for many years at Christ Lutheran Church in Union.
Born in Yonkers, she lived in Union for 60 years.
Surviving are a son, Reed G.; two daughters, Mrs. Robin Adorna and Mrs. Randy Carman; a sister, Mrs. Jane Anthony; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Frank A. Gunther

Services for Frank A. Gunther, 86, of South Plainfield will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the First Presbyterian Church of Dunellen, 218 Dunellen Ave., Dunellen. Arrangements are by the McCriskin Home for Funerals, South Plainfield.
Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
Mr. Gunther died Friday in the Bridgewater Care Center, Bridgewater.
He was a systems analyst with American Cyanamid Corp., Wayne, where he worked for 47 years before retiring in 1980.
During World War II, Mr. Gunther served with the Army Air Force in the 12th Air Force in Africa and Sicily and in the 9th Air Force in Europe as a crew chief. He was awarded the Europe-Africa-Mid East Ribbon with three Bronze Stars.
He graduated from the Air Force Technical Training Command, Paterson Field, Dayton, Ohio and Kansas City, Mo., as an aircraft power plant specialist.
A founding member of the South Plainfield Eagles Pop Warner Football League, Mr. Gunther was a member of the Jerusalem Lodge 26 F&AM, Plainfield, and the Air Force Association.
Born in New York, he lived in Plainfield before settling in South Plainfield in 1948.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Irene B. Kutsch; sons, Alfred J. and Frank D.; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Bendel; a brother, Herman Weinreich Jr., and five grandchildren.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Ladies Auxiliary of Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center, Park and Randolph Avenue, Plainfield, N.J. 07060 or the First Presbyterian Church of Dunellen.
Jane S. Gordon

Services for Mrs. Jane S. Gordon of Gladstone will be held at 9 a.m. today in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, South Road, Morristown. Arrangements are by the August F. Schmidt Memorial Funeral Home, Elizabeth.
Mrs. Gordon died Wednesday at home.
She was a wallpaper designer.
Mrs. Gordon was graduated from Pine College in 1940 and the New York College of Art for Women, now known as the Pratt Institute of Design, in 1943.
During World War II, she worked on airplane blueprints for the federal government.
Mrs. Gordon was a member of the Women’s Association of Morristown Memorial Hospital for 27 years, the Garden Club of Madison, the Altar Guild of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and the Setucket Club, Brewster, Mass.
Born in East Orange, she lived in New Vernon for more than 40 years before moving to Gladstone four years ago. Mrs. Gordon maintained a summer home in Brewster for many years.
Surviving are a son, James Jr.; three daughters, Mrs. Martha Santiuste, Ann W. and Mrs. Sarah DeGiovanni, and seven grandchildren.
Daphne Giunta

A Mass for Mrs. Daphne M. Giunta, 80, of Tigard, Ore., formerly of Pompton Lakes, will be offered at 11 a.m. tomorrow in St. Mary’s Church, Pompton Lakes. The funeral will be from the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, 781 Newark-Pompton Turnpike, Pompton Plains.
Mrs. Giunta, who died Thursday at home, was a retired nurse.
Born in Bangalore, India, she lived in Pompton Lakes for many years before moving to Oregon two years ago.
Surviving are two sons, Christopher and Keith; two sisters, Ms. Enid Mollen and Mrs. Noreen Liewellyn, and two grandchildren.
Christina M. Giambrone

Services for Mrs. Christina M. Giambrone, 65, of Whippany will be offered at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the Full Gospel Church, Northfield Road, Livingston. Arrangements are under the direction of Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, Whippany.
Mrs. Giambrone died Friday in St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston.
Born in Bloomfield, she moved to Whippany 20 years ago.
Mrs. Giambrone is survived by Salvatore, her husband of 45 years; two sons, Frank A. and Ronald S.; a brother, Salvatore Paladino; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Monia and Mrs. Lucy Cerrato, and three grandchildren.
Irwin Friedman

Services have been held for Irwin “Ernie” Friedman, 78, of Roseland, who died Thursday in St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston.
Arrangements were by the Nieberg Midwood Chapel, Brooklyn.
Mr. Friedman owned I.E. Friedman Corp., a carpet distribution firm in Roseland, for many years before retiring.
He served in the Army during World War II from 1941 to 1945.
Mr. Friedman was an active participant in the New Jersey Carpet Club, an industry organization, and managed its golf outings.
Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Livingston before moving to Roseland.
Surviving are Mildred, his wife of 57 years; a daughter, Mrs. Sherri Jubin; a son, Lee, and four grandchildren.
Wilda Beidler

Services for Mrs. Wilda Beidler, 81, of Toms River will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the “Family-Owned” Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 412 Main St., Toms River.
Mrs. Beidler died Thursday in the Community Medical Center, Toms River.
Born in Tailorsville, Pa., she lived in Rahway for 10 years and Plainfield for 20 years before moving to Toms River in 1998.
Surviving are her husband, David; three sons, Jim, Jerry and David C. 2nd; two brothers, Bill and Don Nash; three sisters, Mrs. Gene Gerold, Mrs. Ruth Freeman and Mrs. Bess Cordts; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
