Marcella Caldwell

A Mass for Mrs. Marcella Maude Caldwell, 82, of Sykesville, Md., a former New Jersey resident and Brielle police dispatcher, will be offered at 12:30 p.m. Monday in St. Denis Church, Manasquan. The funeral will be from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South St., Manasquan.
Mrs. Caldwell, who died Thursday in the Copper Ridge Nursing Home, Sykesville, was a dispatcher with the Brielle Police Department for 15 years before retiring in 1975.
She was a member of the ladies auxiliary of Volunteer Engine Company 2, the women’s club and the American Association of Retired Persons, all in Manasquan. Mrs. Caldwell also volunteered at the MCOSS Thrift Shop in Manasquan for several years.
Born in Newark, she lived in Manasquan before moving to Sykesville three years ago.
Surviving are two sons, William L. and George O., and three grandchildren.
Robert Byrnes

A Mass for Robert P. Byrnes, 87, of Roselle will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Elizabeth Church, Linden, following the funeral from the Leonard-Lee Funeral Home, 301 E. Blancke St., Linden.
Mr. Byrnes, who died Thursday at home, was a comptroller with the General Motors Corp. in Linden, where he worked for 40 years before retiring in 1975.
Born in Queens, he lived in Roselle 50 years.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Augenstein and Mrs. Elizabeth Gorgeson; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mary Butterly

Mrs. Mary A. Butterly, 69, of Lakehurst died yesterday in St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston.
A Mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Cedar Grove. Arrangements are by the Prout Funeral Home, Verona.
Mrs. Butterly was a member of the Rosary Society of St. John’s Church in Lakehurst.
Born in Jersey City, she lived in Short Hills before moving to Lakehurst 10 years ago.
Surviving are a son, John N.; a brother, John Yefcak, and four grandchildren.
Claudette Burris

Services for Mrs. Claudette L. Burris, 60, of Elizabeth will be held at 7 o’clock tomorrow evening in the Liberty Baptist Church, 515 Court St., Elizabeth. Arrangements are by the Nesbitt Funeral Home, Elizabeth.
Mrs. Burris, who died Wednesday in Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth, was a teacher’s aide in the Elizabeth school system.
Born in Rock Hill, S.C., she moved to Elizabeth many years ago.
Surviving are her husband, Hiram; a daughter, Renee; two sons, Reginald and Anthony; her mother, Mrs. Audrey Simril; six sisters, Mrs. Mary Edelin, Mrs. Ruth Fisher, Miss Cynthia Simril, Miss Rita Simril, Mrs. Debra McDuffie and Miss Vivian Sewell; two brothers, James and Samuel Simril, and nine grandchildren.
Benitta O. Burfield

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Mrs. Benitta O. Burfield, 81, of St. Petersburg, a former New Jersey resident, died here Thursday in the Edward White Hospital.
Arrangements are by the Blount Curry and Roel Funeral Home, St. Petersburg.
Mrs. Burfield was born in Newark, N.J., and lived in Union, N.J., before moving to St. Petersburg.
Surviving are two sons, Brian J. and Craig P.; a brother, Edwin Burchardt, and two grandchildren.
Dr. James Brown

A Mass for Dr. James M. Brown, M.D., 76, of Cedar Grove, a physician for more than 40 years, will be offered at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the Unitarian Church of Montclair. Arrangements are by Martin’s Home for Services, Inc., Montclair.
Dr. Brown, who died Tuesday at home, was a radiation oncologist at Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville, and operated a radiology practice in East Orange. He also served on the staffs of St. Mary’s Hospital, East Orange, and St. Michael’s, St. James, and Columbus hospitals, all of Newark, and was an associate professor at the New Jersey College of Medicine.
He attended Howard University, Washington, D.C. and received a bachelor’s degree from Long Island University and his medical degree from the University of Paris, France. He completed his residency in radiology at Bellevue Hospital in New York City, where he later served as an administrator.
Born in Bluefield, W. Va., Dr. Brown lived in Paris, New York and Newark before moving to Cedar Grove in 1971.
Surviving are his wife, Dr. Ursula Brown; two sons, Dr. Andrew Brown and Roger Brown; three daughters, Marion Brown, Dr. Jocelyn Brown and Mrs. Grace Hill; two brothers, Dr. William Brown and Leopold; a sister, Mrs. Marion Parsons; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Arthur J. Brice

Services for Arthur J. Brice, 68, of Somerset will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the Anderson Funeral Service, 201 Sandford St., New Brunswick.
Mr. Brice, who died Tuesday in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick, was employed as a warehouseman by Excell Logistic Inc. in Dayton.
Born in Chester, S.C., he moved to Somerset many years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia; two daughters, Mrs. Robin Darby and Shirley McClurkin; four sons, Jeffrey W., Gregory S. and Jay A. Hinton and Robert McClurkin, and six sisters, Mrs. Mary J. McCullough, Mrs. Genvia Morris, Mrs. Lacy Barns, Mrs. Janie Crawley, Mrs. Gertrude Davis and Rosa.
