Memorial services for Charles A. Murphy, 80, of Berkeley Heights will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Arnytown.
Mr. Murphy, who died March 29 in the Berkeley Heights Convalescent Center, was a tree surgeon in the Union County area.
He served in the Army during World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Mr. Murphy was a life-member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 51.
Born in Orange, he lived in Springfield before moving to Berkeley Heights.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Colleen Siegfried; a son, Patrick; three sisters, Grace, Mrs. Doris Robertson and Mrs. Mabel Barbato; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Charles Meyer

Services for Charles Meyer, 79, of Dover will be held at 1 p.m. today in the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd., Toms River.
Mr. Meyer, who died Friday in the Community Medical Center, Toms River, worked for Red Devil Tools for 33 years before retiring in 1983.
He served in the Army during World War II.
Born in Newark, he lived in Irvington and Springfield before moving to Dover in 1987.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine; a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Treiber; two sons, Charles and Gene, and two grandchildren.
Michael Matlaga

ORANGE CITY, Fla.- Services were held for Michael Matlaga, 75, of DeBary, a former New Jersey resident, who died Thursday in the Florida Hospital Fish Memorial here. Arrangements are by the Baldauff Family Funeral Home, Orange City.
Mr. Matlaga was a maintenance mechanic for General Motors, Hyatt Roller Bearing Division, Clark, N.J. for 14 years before retiring.
He served in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Baltimore.
Born in Elizabeth, N.J., he moved to Florida in 1980.
Surviving are Mary, his wife of 21 years; sons, Robert and William Matlaga and Robert Brown; daughters, Mrs. Arlene Jennings, Mrs. Carol Mactas, Mrs. Marilyn Levine, Mrs. Mary Kerswill and Mrs. Rose Hanratty; sisters, Mrs. Mary Gomich and Mrs. Martha Woods; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Antoinette Luciano

A Mass for Mrs. Antoinette Luciano, 75, of Belleville will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Lucy’s Church, Newark, following the funeral from the Megaro Memorial Home, 503 Union Ave., Belleville.
Mrs. Luciano died Saturday at home.
She was a member of the St. Gerard Ladies Guild of St. Lucy’s Church and the Belleville Senior Citizens Thursday Club.
Born in Newark, Mrs. Luciano lived in Belleville for 38 years.
Surviving are Fred Sr., her husband of 57 years; three sons, Joseph, Fred Jr. and Nicholas; a daughter, Mrs. Annette Liotti; three brothers, Joseph, Carmine and Louis Iovino; three sisters, Mrs. Fay DeNicolas, Mrs. Mary Auriemma and Mrs. Millie Sepe, and four grandchildren.
Edmund H. Lautenschlager

A Mass for Edmund H. Lautenschlager of Berkeley Heights will be offered at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the Little Flower Church, Berkeley Heights, following the funeral from the Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial, 7 Summit Ave., Summit.
Mr. Lautenschlager, who died Saturday in Overlook Hospital, Summit, was a group chief for the Internal Revenue Service for 30 years before retiring from the Elizabeth office in 1972.
He served in the Army during World War II.
Born in Jersey City, he lived in North Plainfield before moving to Berkeley Heights 14 years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Letitia; two daughters, Mrs. Letitia Trepiccione and Mrs. Joanne Jensen; a sister, Mrs. Marie Lilore, and four grandchildren.
L. Antoinette Johnson

Services for Mrs. L. Antoinette “Anne” Johnson, 88, of Upper Montclair will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. John’s Episcopal Church, 55 Montclair Ave., Montclair. Arrangements are by the Caggiano Memorial, Montclair.
Mrs. Johnson died Saturday in Mountainside Hospital, Glen Ridge.
She was a lingerie manager for Lerner’s Dress Shop, Newark, for 10 years before retiring many years ago.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of St. John’s Episcopal Church.
Born in Montclair, she lived in Bermuda for six years before moving to Upper Montclair 55 years ago.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Bartkowski; a sister, Barbara Grieco; two brothers, James and Kenneth Grieco; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Bernard Gross

A Mass for Bernard Gross, 75, of Newark will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Teresa’s Church, 541 Washington Ave., Kenilworth, following the funeral from the Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave., Maplewood.
Mr. Gross died Saturday in the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
He was an insurance underwriter with the Home Insurance Co., Rutherford, for five years before retiring in 1990. From 1968 to 1985, he was an insurance underwriter at the Kemper Insurance Co., Summit.
In 1948, he earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Long Island University in New York. He had been editor of the school newspaper, The Seawanhaka.
Mr. Gross served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. While in the military, he had been a journalist for the Navy with The Tester newspaper.
Mr. Gross was a member of the Irvington Senior Citizens.
Born in New York City, he lived in Newark for 40 years.
Surviving are four sons, Daniel J., William B., Timothy G. and John G.; a brother, William; three sisters, Mrs. Sally Brandau, Mrs. Rhoda Onofri and Mrs. Louise Jones, and four grandchildren.
