Samuel Bivins

Samuel Bivins transitioned from labor to reward on July 23rd, 2015, at home, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle against Alzheimers disease. Born September 6, 1937 in Macon (Jones County) Georgia, to Walter and Mariah (Finney) Bivins, he accepted Christ at an early age and attended St. James A.M.E. Church in Jones County, Georgia.
Sam was educated in the Jones County Public School System. Upon graduating from Maggie Cliff High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in which he served for three years and received an honorable discharge. He retired from US Steel Company after 32 years of service.
Sam was a faithful member of Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church in Princeton, NJ where he served in both the church choir and on the Missionary Board. Sam was a kind and generous man who loved his family. To know Sam was to love him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mariah Bivins, grandson Jordan Jackson, brother Bennie Bivins and sisters-in-law Juanita and Willene Bivins.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Robin Bivins, five sons; Samuel B. Bivins and wife Vicki, Mark Bivins and wife Dawn, special devoted son Shamir, Ishmael and Alim Bivins, daughter, Morie Ann Jackson and husband Tim, two granddaughters; Mya and Kenndi Bivins, grandson Isaiah Jackson, two step-sons; Carl Thompson and Mattaay Smith, step-daughter Stacy Smith and husband Tony, sister Ruby Peck and husband William of Macon, GA, four brothers; Walter Bivins of Dayton, OH, Ernest Bivins and wife Ruby of Gordon, GA, Virgil Bivins and wife Valerie of Willingboro, NJ and James Bivins and wife Mammie of Macon, Jones County, GA, and special step-granddaughter Toniyah Harris.
The Bivins family would like to extend our greatest appreciation to all those who reached out during this time and say Thank You.
A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Mt. Pisgah AME Church, 170 Witherspoon Street, Princeton, NJ 08542 from 10:00AM until 11:00AM.
Funeral Services will begin at 11:00AM.
A private cremation will follow on Monday.
Flowers may be sent directly to the church on Saturday at 9:00AM
Alice Marie Garrison

Alice M. Garrison, a life-long resident of Princeton, passed away at age 90 on Thursday, June 4, 2015 in the house where she was born.
Alice was a graduate of Princeton High School, Class of 1942. In 1943, she married
Philip Garrison, her husband of 64 years whom she first met at Nassau Street Elementary School when the two were in kindergarten.
Alice worked for two years at the Institute for Advanced Study as a secretary to Albert Einstein and John von Neumann. In 1944, she went work for Princeton University, where she was employed for 43 years, first in the Department of Romance Languages and later in Latin American Studies and European Civilizations. She was particularly proud to administer the Helen Lee Wessel Fellowships in Public Affairs, established to support scholars of inter-American affairs. Long after she retired in 1987, she remained in touch with students she had met at the University.
Alice was predeceased by her husband, Philip, by her younger sister, Nancy Blaney, and by a long string of loyal German Shepherds. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Worthington of Princeton, NJ, her son, James Garrison of Dublin, OH, and his spouse, Peggy. She had four grandchildren: Ross Worthington of Washington, DC, Julie Worthington of Somerville, MA, Kimberly Gatton of Atlanta, GA, and Amy Garrison of Cleveland, OH.
A private burial service was held at Rocky Hill cemetery in Rocky Hill, NJ under the direction of the Kimble Funeral Home, 1 Hamilton Avenue, Princeton, NJ 08540.

Charles Clarence Geherty
April 28, 1933 - June 8, 2015
Montgomery Twp. - Charles Clarence Geherty, 82, passed away peacefully, Monday, June 8, 2015 at Princeton Care Center. Born in Princeton to the late Thomas and Anna Geherty, he was a life-long resident. Charles served proudly in the U.S. Army during peace-time of the Korean Conflict from 1955-1961 as Corporal and was a self-employed electrician. He was an avid fisherman and a member of the American Legion Posts #76 and #148. He was predeceased by a brother, George and two sons, Charles Jr., and Allen. Surviving are his loving children, June Geherty and Ronald Geherty. His cherished grandchildren, Ron, Bruce, Raymond and Branden, his caring daughter-in-laws, Donna G. Geherty and Jane Geherty, his caring siblings, Thomas Geherty and Elizabeth Niper and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday from 10:30am to 11:30 am at the Kimble Funeral Home, 1 Hamilton Ave., Princeton, followed by interment at Brigadier General W. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Eastern Regional Medical Center, 1331 East Wyoming Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19124.
Joan "Ja Ja" Herndon
Mrs. Herndon of Little Silver died Aug. 2, 2007, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided in the Monmouth County area for 35 years, and in Little Silver the past 27 years. She was a self-employed writer and artist and wrote several screenplays, three of which are optioned in Hollywood. She also wrote plays for First Avenue Playhouse, Atlantic Highlands, and the novel, "Maria X." Prior to that, she was an administrative manager at a law firm in New York City. She was a communicant of Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. She was involved with and wrote plays for the Sandy Hook Foundation. She was predeceased by two brothers, Ronald and Nicholas Tulotta. She is survived by her husband, Bob; three daughters and one son-in-law, Jessica Herndon of Oceanport, and Valerie Herndon and Timothy Burke, and Stefani Herndon, all of Red Bank; a brother and sister-in-law, Nunzio and Carol Tulotta of Connecticut; and three grandsons. was celebrated at Church of the Nativity. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.
Willard Milton Cool Jr.
Mr. Cool, 71, of Keyport, died Aug. 3, 2007, at Brentwood Hospice, Toms River. Born in Kingston, Pa., he resided in Bloomfield prior to relocating to Keyport six years ago. Mr. Cook was a truck driver for Tip Top Bakery, Irvington, for 15 years, retiring in 1997. He served with the U.S. Navy during peacetime. He is survived by his wife, Theresa Glennon Cool; four daughters and sons-in-law, Caryn and Michael Cavallaro of Andover, Colleen and Jack Babnew of Tinton Falls, Christine and John Catalano of Matawan, and Candace and Marc Delgaudio of Mount Olive; and seven grandchildren. John "Jack" Sands Davis
Mr. Davis, 81, of Westfield, died Aug. 1, 2007, at Morristown Memorial Hospital. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided in Red Bank prior to relocating to Westfield eight years ago. He was a vice president at Osborne, Post and Kurtz Brokerage, New York City. He was a daily communicant at St. Helen's Roman Catholic Church, Westfield. He was a former Eucharistic minister at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He enjoyed tennis and golf, and was an avid fan of the NY Giants. He was predeceased by his first wife, Irene Davis in 1998; and a sister, Doris O'Shea. He is survived by his wife, Ann Davis; six sons and daughters-in-law, John S. "Jack" and Diane Davis Jr. of Little Silver, Richard and Diane Davis, and Greg and Mary Clair Davis, all of Shrewsbury, and Stephen "Beanie" and Lois Davis of New Hampshire, Christopher and Tina Tilyou of Ridgewood, and Brian and Christine Tilyou of Westfield; five daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Jim Glassen of Cranford, Rene and Chris Hampton of Connecticut, Barbara "Boo" and Dave Muller of Cranford, Michele and Derek McDonald of Mountainside, and Nicole and Pete Savastano of Raleigh, N.C.; and 34 grandchildren. Edith Louise Colio
Mrs. Colio, 94, of Rumson, died July 22, 2007, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was a lifelong resident of Rumson. She was employed at a telephone company for 15 years. She also assisted her husband. Morgan P. Colio, D.D.S., at his Red Bank practice for 55 years. She was predeceased by her husband. She is survived by two children, Linda Colio Case and Morgan P. Colio Jr.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be Aug. 11 at 11 a.m. at Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. Elizabeth T. Jose
Mrs. Jose, 89, of Middletown, died Feb. 16, 2008, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles C. in 1991. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Lori of LaSelva Beach, Calif.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Gregory Osche of Acton, Mass., and Carole and James Ashe of Middletown; two sisters, Mary George and Anne Swikart, both of Rumson; and four grandchildren.
