HALLANDALE, Fla. -- Melvin K. Hutchinson, 83, died April 21.
Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong resident before moving to Hallandale in 1978.
He was a partner in Hutchinson Signs and Cranes, Trenton. The company fabricated and erected illuminated signs, including the original "Trenton Makes The World Takes" sign, which it installed on Trenton's Lower Free Bridge in 1934.
He was a partner in Royal Liquor Distributors.
Mr. Hutchinson was a member of Sacred Heart Church and American Bowling Congress.
He attended Lawrenceville (N.J.) Preparatory Academy.
He is survived by a brother, Alvin of Lighthouse Point; three daughters, Claire Rich of Freeland, Wash., Melanie Daly of Oakland Park and Marlene Frazzini of Mahwah, N.J.; and many grandchildren.
Funeral was in Palm Beach.
Burial will be 3 p.m. Friday at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Trenton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lighthouse International Foundation, New York City.

Norman E. Higgins Sr.

BURLINGTON TWP. -- Norman E. Higgins Sr., 82, died Tuesday at Rancocas Hospital, Willingboro.
Born in Tullytown, Pa., he was a longtime Burlington Township resident.
He was an Army veteran.
Mr. Higgins retired as railroad supervisor at McGuire Air Force Base after 25 years.
Husband of the late Helen Marie Awdick Higgins and father of the late Peggy Joan Shinn, he is survived by a son, Norman E. Jr. of Marlton; a daughter, Dolores Green of Burlington Township; a brother, Stanley of Newport News, Va.; two sisters, Joan Shelton and Dorothy Hartman of Florida; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at McGee Funeral Home, 869 Beverly Road.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery
in Burlington.

MONROE -- Eva K. Green, 82, died Tuesday at Princeton Nursing Center.
Born in Boston, she lived in New England and was a longtime Pennsylvania resident before moving to the Clearbrook section of Monroe Township in 1990.
She worked many years with parents of children with learning disabilities, was a school social worker, had a private practice and was field supervisor for Rutger's University School of Social Work.
She was a member of the National Association of Social Workers, was active in community organizations and led discussion groups on family relationships.
She attended high school and college in Boston and received a master's in social work from Boston University.
She enjoyed social and political activities, music, reading, talking and learning about people.
Wife of the late Robert Green, she is survived by two daughters, Ellen and Vivian; three grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Light; and other relatives and friends.
Memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at her home in Clearbrook.

EAST WINDSOR -- Andrew J. Epp, 76, died Monday at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton.
Born in Trenton, he lived in East Windsor more than 20 years.
An Army veteran of World War II, he retired from the state's heating and air conditioning department after more than 10 years.
He was a member of Hope Baptist Church, East Windsor.
He is survived by his wife, Marion Anderson Epp; two daughters, Cathy Huling of Camden and Tina Giove of Sewell; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Andrew of Idaho, George and Marion Epp of Yardville and Larry and Gail Epp of Cranbury; a brother and sister-in-law, George and Gladys Epp of Cranbury; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at A.S. Cole Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Cranbury, with the Rev. Larry Schmalbach officiating.
Burial will be in Brainerd Cemetery, Cranbury.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

MANCHESTER -- Roberta Verna Van Doren, 84, died Sunday at home.
Born in Newark, she lived in Packanack Lake before moving to Crestwood Village in 1977.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Daughters of the British Empire and Resident's Club of Crestwood Village V.
Sister of the late Donald Robertson, she is survived by her husband of 62 years, Elwood Van Doren; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Barbara Van Doren of Lawrenceville; a grandson, Mark Van Doren of Washington D.C.; and a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Monica and Joe Brenner of Arlington, Va.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting, N.J.
Burial will be 1 p.m. Friday at New Germantown Cemetery, Oldwick.

PENNINGTON -- Lawrence W. Cook, 61, died Friday at home.
Born in East Orange, he was a longtime resident of that area before moving to Pennington.
He was a professional engineer, licensed by New Jersey in 1977 and Pennsylvania in 1986.
He was a member for more than 27 years and elder of Hopewell Presbyterian Church and belonged to the American Contract Bridge League, he Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol Club and the Amateur Trap Shooting Association.
He graduated from Columbia High School, attended University of Pennsylvania, received a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from Newark College of Engineering and received a business degree from Upsola College.
Son of the late Richard and Claire Wolff Cook, he is survived by his wife of 39 years, Suzanne Rogers Cook of Pennington; three sons, Richard L. of Jamesburg, Daniel M. of California and Gorden F. of Illinois; two grandchildren; a brother, David W. of Massachusetts; and a sister, Janice C. Cook of California.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hopewell Presbyterian Church with reception following in the church hall.
Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park Cemetery, East Hanover.

HAMILTON -- Carmela Calimeri, 100, died Sunday at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton.
Born in Italy, she was a longtime New York resident before moving to Hamilton.
Wife of the late Carmelo and mother of the late Ermando, she is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Rosario and Nancy of Wayne, Alfred and Joan of Edison and Ernest and Theresa of Toms River; a daughter, Mary Halupke of Hamilton; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Saint Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church, 4680 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square.
Calling hours will be 8 to 9 a.m. Thursday at Knott's Colonial Funeral Home, 2946 S. Broad St.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, N.Y.
