Richard W. Baker Jr.

PRINCETON BOROUGH -- Richard W. Baker Jr., 83, died Saturday in Hamilton.
Born in Cambridge, Mass., he was a longtime Princeton area resident.
A Navy veteran of World War II, with the air commands in Florida and Hawaii, Mr. Baker retired as a captain in 1969.
He retired as a self-employed consultant and manager in real estate investment. He previously was vice president and head of the Real Estate Mortgage and Loan Department of the New York Life Insurance Co.
Mr. Baker served on the Board of Crossland Savings Bank for more than 25 years. He was the committee chairman that planned the merger of Princeton Country Day School and Miss Fines School of Princeton into the Princeton Day School.
He served on the boards of The Medical Center of Princeton, the Archeological Institute of America, and the Yale Divinity School Associates.
He was president of the Princeton Republican Club, the Princeton chapters of the American Field Service International Scholarships, the English Speaking Union, and the Princeton Battlefield Area Preservation Society.
Mr. Baker founded the Yale Club of Princeton and was a founding member of the Princeton Officers Club. He was a member of the Nassau Club and served on the vestry of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Princeton.
He graduated from Yale, Princeton Junior School, and Groton School.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rachel Cooper; two sons, Richard W. III of Honolulu, Hawaii, and John C. of Lawrenceville; a daughter, Eileen, Lady Strathnaver of London, England; and two granddaughters, Rachel Sutherland and Rosemary Sutherland.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Church, 33 Mercer St., Princeton Borough.

Frank Vasti

TRENTON -- Frank "Hopper" Vasti, 84, died Saturday at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton.
Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong Chambersburg resident.
He retired after 39 years with John A. Roebling's Sons Co.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, Kent Athletic Association of Trenton and Italian Mutual Aid Society, Bristol, Pa.
Mr. Vasti enjoyed playing pool.
Son of the late Archangelo and Maria Vitollo Vasti, brother of the late Mary Colucci, Lucy Sisti and William and Pasquale Vasti, and husband of the late Mabel Caione Vasti, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Angelo and Maria Vasti of Trenton and Thomas and Cheryl Vasti of Yardville; a brother and sister-in-law, Angelo and Marie Vasti of Trenton; four grandchildren, Kimberly Nocera, Dana Frascella and Bryan and Trenna Vasti; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral and entombment were held.

Emma A. Shumpter

TRENTON -- Emma M. Shumpter, 53, died Thursday at Capital Health System at Mercer hospital.
Born in Tupelo, Miss., she lived in Trenton more than 14 years.
She had Jehovah's Witness Bible study at home.
Mother of the late Robert, she is survived by three sons, Richard Jr. of Tacoma, Wash., Terry Marion of Tuberlo and Michael Shumpert of Trenton; a daughter-in-law, Marie Shannon of Trenton; a brother, James Wilson of Trenton; a sister-in-loaw, Beulah Wilson of Trenton; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at J.W. Travis Funeral Home, 931 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., with the Rev. Keith Marshall, pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Ewing Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 11 a.m. until service Friday at the funeral home.
Walter Loring Nollner

SEA ISLE CITY -- Walter Loring Nollner, 77, died Feb. 19.
He was born in Oakland, Calif.
He retired in 1993 from Princeton University as professor of music and choir director. He also directed the Williams College Glee Club from 1950-58.
Mr. Nollner entered the Army as a senior in college and worked on ENIGMA, decoding messages from Germany.
He studied piano at the University of California at Berkeley, California, where he obtained bachelor's and master's degrees and was inducted into Alpha Mu, the music honor society, and Phi Beta Kappa. In 1945, he enrolled at Trinity School of Music to study piano. He later received a bicentennial preceptorship to study in Munich, Germany, from 1962-63. He was director of the Princeton University Glee Club and Chamber Chorus, a combination of choir and glee club members from around the world.
He is survived by his wife, Diana; two sons, Phillip and Michael; and a daughter, Wendy.

Edith Hifa McNally

EAST WINDSOR -- Edith Hifa McNally, 78, died Monday at Manor Nursing Home, Freehold.
Born in Scranton, Pa., she lived in Newark before moving to East Windsor 30 years ago.
She worked for Presbyterian Hospital of Newark. She retired from Meadow Lakes after 18 years of service.
She was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a nurse in the South Pacific.
Mrs. McNally graduated from Scranton State College and College Misericordia with a degree in nursing.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Charles McNally; a sister, Victoria Namey of Farrell, Pa.; and a brother, Alfred Ammen of Clark.
Mass of Christian Burial will be noon Friday at St. Ann Maronite Church, 1320 Price St., Scranton, Pa.
Burial will be private.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Glackin/Saul Funeral Home, 136 Morrison Ave., Hightstown, and 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at Savino Funeral Home, South Main Avenue, Scranton, Pa.

TABERNACLE -- Elston E. LePage, 60, died Monday at home.
Born in Great Bridge, Va., he lived in Tabernacle 23 years before moving to Virginia Beach.
He was a supervisor 20 years with Demag DeLaval Co., Hamilton.
Mr. LePage enjoyed playing the lottery and was a casino and wildlife enthusiast.
Brother of the late Arthur, he is survived by his wife of 39 years, Maureen Devlin LePage; a son and daughter-in-law, E. Michael and Michelle LePage of Atco; a daughter and son-in-law, Jeannine E. LePage and Frank Harriman of Tabernacle; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Joan and Robert Dolan of California and Rebecca LePage of Norfolk, Va.; a brother and sister-in-law, Lonnie and Bonnie LePage of Norfolk; a brother-in-law and his wife, John M. and Kathy Devlin of Mount Laurel; and a grandson, Nicholas A. Harriman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at The Church of the Holy Eucharist, 520 Medford Lakes Road.
Rite of Committal will be in Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson.
