MIRIAM BREAU, AGE 58, HIGHLAND PARK

Miriam N. Rigberg Breau, 58, died yesterday at St. Luke's Hospital, New York City.
She was born in Philadelphia and moved to New Jersey in 1958. She was married in 1961, and later moved to Highland Park in 1977. She was a member of the Highland Park Minyon, formerly serving as its chairperson. She was a life member of Hadassah, and a member of the National Association of Social Workers. She was a strong role model and a courageous person, devoted to her community and family. She spent her life helping people. She was not only a wonderful daughter, but also a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all. Always putting her family first, she waited until after she raised her children to go back to school. She graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and earned her master of social-work degree at Rutgers University. She built a successful private practice as a psychotherapist in Highland Park and New York. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her mother, Dorothy Rosenberg Rigberg. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Breau of Highland Park; two daughters, Elizabeth Breau of Highland Park and Sylvia Breau of Portland, Ore.; a son, David Breau of New York City; her father, Benjamin Rigberg of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Seth Rigberg of Voorheesville, N.Y., and Saul Rigberg of Delmar, N.Y., and two grandchildren, Michael and Debra Meagan Hoffman, both of Highland Park.
Funeral services will be held at 12:15 p.m. tomorrow at Highland Park Conservative Temple, 201 South 3rd Ave., Highland Park. Burial will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge. Arrangements are under the direction of The Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Edison. MARGARET LAWRENCE, AGE 92, NEW BRUNSWICK

Margaret Karsay Lawrence, 92, died Friday at Somerset Manor.
She was born in New Brunswick and lived there all her life. She was a former volunteer worker with the New Brunswick unit of the American Red Cross for many years. She was a member of Ascension Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Brunswick.
Her husband, Andrew, died in 1990. A grandson, Andrew Sabo, died in 1997. Also deceased are a sister, Jennie Vilagos, and two brothers, Louis and William Karsay.
Surviving are a daughter, Vivian La Fontaine of Edison; a brother, Elmer Karsay of Somerset; a sister, Elizabeth Kady of Baltimore; two grandsons, Louis and Richard Sabo, both of Texas, three great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Ascension Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Brunswick. Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery, New Brunswick. There will be no visiting hours at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Gowen Funeral Home, 233 Somerset St., New Brunswick.

FRANK J. HOMAN, AGE 87, formerly of EAST BRUNSWICK

Frank J. Homan, 87, died Sunday at Elmerald Oaks Nursing Home, Sarasota, Fla.
He was born in Hull, England, and had lived in East Brunswick, moving to Sarasota in 1996. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He retired in 1975 as a film department supervisor for E.I. Du Pont after 45 years with the company.
His wife, the former Madalyn Ingvartsen, died in June 1996. Surviving are a daughter, Karen Burlett of Laurence Harbor; two sons, Thomas E. Homan of Sarasota, and Allan J. Homan of Laurence Harbor, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Rezem Funeral Home, 457 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick. Burial will be at Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River. Calling hours are Thursday, 7-9 p.m. only, at the funeral home.
ADELAIDE BERGHOF, AGE 92, COLONIA

Adelaide Berghof, 92, of Colonia died Sunday at Genesis Woodland Nursing Home, Plainfield.
She was born in Chalfonte, Pa., and grew up in Philadelphia. In 1930, she graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Goucher College, Baltimore, with a bachelor's degree in modern languages. Following her graduation, she studied for a year in Germany and had briefly resided in Moorestown before moving to Colonia in 1941.
She had been a teacher in the Woodbridge Township school system for more than 50 years before her retirement in 1994.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Society of Mayflower Decendants, and a charter member of the Colonia Chapter of the American Associates of University Women. She was also a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quaker) Church in Plainfield.
She is survived by her godson, John Alden of Bethesda, Md., and two cousins, Betty Lou Pfohl of Leesburg, Va., and Pat Pennington of Bala Cynwyd, Pa.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd. Arrangements are under the direction of Gosselin Funeral Home, 660 New Dover Road, Edison.
MONROE A. SCHNECKENDORF, AGE 54, CARTERET

Monroe A. Schneckendorf, 54, of Carteret died Saturday at Rahway Hospital.
He was born in Jersey City and lived in Carteret the past 28 years. He was a 1977 graduate of Rutgers University, with a bachelor's degree. He retired from Larkin Services, Chatham, as an office manager-accountant.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Free & Accepted Masons-Corner Stone Tyrian Lodge 229 in Linden, and a member of the Jewish War Veterans in Carteret.
He was the son of the late Oscar and Helen Schneckendorf. He is survived by his wife, the former Susan Hirschorn; two daughters, Lori of Carteret and Erica of Woodbridge, and a grandson, Jesse James Schneckendorf.
Graveside services were held Monday at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, under the direction of Synowiecki Funeral Home, 56 Carteret Ave., Carteret.
JOSEPH BARTOSIK, AGE 81, SOUTH AMBOY

Joseph Bartosik, 81, of South Amboy died Sept. 26 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.
He was born in Jersey City and lived there most of his life. Later, he lived in Middletown for 16 years before moving to South Amboy in 1996.
He worked as a hi-lo driver for 25 years at American Can Co., Jersey City, before retiring in 1970. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is predeceased by his wife, Anna Bartosik, and two brothers, John and Frank Bartosik.
He is survived by his brother, Andrew Bartosik of Linden; three nieces, Agnes Gorzka of Fords, Anna Klepczyk of Edison and Angela Bartosik of San Diego, and a nephew, Frank Bartosik of Anaheim, Calif.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Flynn & Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
JOSEPH GESSLER, AGE 94, CLARK

Joseph "Pop" Gessler, 94, died Monday at his home.
He was born in Newark, and lived in Linden from 1936 to 1990, when he moved to Clark. He was a retired security guard for Western Electric, Kearny, for 28 years before retiring in 1970. He was a communicant of St. Agnes R.C. Church, Clark. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America-Stanley S. Holmes Chapter, Kearny. He was also a member of Asian Relief Inc. (headquartered in Maryland).
Surviving are two daughters, Charlotte Gessler and Christine Gessler, both of Clark.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral at 10 a.m. tomorrow from the Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, 2124 East St. Georges Ave., Linden (at the Elizabeth-Linden city line), followed by an 11 a.m. Mass at St. Agnes R.C. Church, Clark. Interment will be at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia. Visiting will be today 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
