HELEN REDDING OWENS, 87, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of ASBURY PARK, died Saturday at Doctor's Hospital, Sarasota. She worked in sales at Handicap House Consignment, Sarasota, retiring 25 years ago. Born in Montclair, she lived in Asbury Park before moving to Sarasota in 1961.
Her first husband, John G. Redding Sr., died in 1972, her second husband, Floyd R. Owens, died in 1995, her sons, Thomas R. Redding, in 1948, and John G. Redding Jr., in 1996, and a daughter, Helene M. Janocha, in 1982. Surviving are two daughters, Lois Bauer, Lakewood, and Punta Gorda, Fla., and Jean McHale, Tinton Falls; two brothers, John Gardner, Verona, and Robert Gardner, Montclair; a sister, Anna Pelech, Avon; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. IDA WEINSTEIN, 79, of NEPTUNE, died Saturday at Grove Care Center. Born in New York, she lived in Deerfield Beach, Fla., before moving to the Shore area seven years ago.
Surviving are a daughter, Susan Weiner, Ocean Township; a brother, Louis Axelrod, Florida; and two grandchildren. Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapel, Ocean Township, is in charge of arrangements.

JOHN L. FRANK SR., 77, of FAIR HAVEN, died Saturday at Fort Monmouth. He was co-owner of the Red Bank Lumber Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1974. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a graduate of New York University. Born in Bayonne, he lived in Rumson before moving to Fair Haven in 1959.
His wife, Carol Luzzi Frank, died in 1994. Surviving are a son, John L. Jr, Red Bank; two daughters, Judith D. Fossa, Edison Township, and Karen Jane Ganson, Little Silver; and six grandchildren. Worden-Hoidal Funeral Home, Red Bank, is in charge of arrangements.

MARY BARBARA SMOTHERS, 51, of TINTON FALLS, died Sunday at home after a long illness. She worked in the activities department at the Red Bank Convalescent Center. Prior to that, she worked with the Count Bassie Learning Center, Red Bank, and the Monmouth Silversmith, Shrewsbury. She was involved in the SHARE Program and the AIDS Foundation. She was a member of the Shrewsbury Avenue AME Zion Church, Red Bank, and the Phyllis Wheatly Elks Temple 220, Red Bank. Born in Marlboro Township, she was a lifelong resident of the Shore area.
Her daughter, Mary Rosario, died in 1965. Surviving are three sons, Raymond Rosario and Richard Crus Rosario, both of Oakland, Calif., and John Brooks Smothers, Stone Mountain, Ga.; a daughters, Sonji Smothers Pittman, Stone Mountain, Ga.; and four grandchildren. NELLIE M. YEO HELYER, 86, of MATAWAN, died Saturday at JFK Memorial Hospital, Edison Township. She was a self-employed pianist. Born in England, she moved to Matawan 10 years ago.
She was predeceased by her husband, Walter G. Surviving are two sons, Robert, England, and David, Matawan; a daughter, Marlene Ruth, Highlands; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Day Funeral Home, Keyport, is in charge of arrangements.

ROSA ANGELICA TAVAREZDISLA, 86, of FREEHOLD, died Saturday at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was a member of the Perth Amboy Seventh Day Adventist Church. Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, she lived in Manhattan before moving to Freehold in 1976.
She was predeceased by her husband, Genaro Tavarez, and a son, Jamie. Surviving are a daughter, Felicita Padron, with whom she lived; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, is in charge of arrangements.

ALFONSO "FUNZI" DiLAURO, 66, of KEYPORT, died Saturday at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel Township. Mr. DiLauro was a dock worker employed by Carolina Trucking Co., Woodbridge Township, for 25 years retiring in 1992. He was a Korean War Army veteran. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. He was a charter member of the Keyport Indians of the Pop Warner football league and a member of the Teamster Local 701, North Brunswick. Born in Matawan, he was a lifelong resident of Keyport.
His son, Anthony, died in 1986. Surviving are his wife, Delphine Pontecorvo DiLauro; two daughters, Mary Anne DeVarti, and Delphine Terry, both of Keyport; son, Alfonso Jr., Sayreville; brother, Umberto, Brick Township; sister, Mary DiLauro, Keyport, and six grandchildren.
