Charles M. O'Shea, Jr., 87
Charles M. O'Shea, Jr., of Lawrence, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2014, at the Acorn Glen Assisted Living Facility in Princeton, NJ, at the age of 87. A lifelong area resident, Charles was born in Trenton and lived most of his life in Lawrence Township. Charles, or Charlie as he was best known, graduated from Trenton Central High School in 1944. He then enlisted into the United States Navy, having served as a Radarman Third Class in World War II, where he earned the American Theater Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Medal, and the Victory Medal. After his honorable discharge in 1946, Charles enrolled in Bucknell Junior College (now Wilkes University), graduating in 1950. In 1950 Charles joined his father in the family owned Mack Truck dealership, Trenton Mack Sales and Services, Inc., and became sole owner in 1956 until he retired in 1990. Son of the late Charles M. O'Shea, Sr., and Theresa (Sellner) O'Shea, Charles was predeceased by his brother John C. O'Shea and daughter Teresa (Tera) Hohmann. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (Doherty) O'Shea and their five children and spouses:
C. Michael O'Shea, III and his wife Lea, D. Patrick O'Shea and his wife Donna, J. Brian O'Shea and his wife Catherine, Charlene Anderson and her husband Patrick, and Ellen Brown and her husband Scott. Charles is also survived by a son-in-law Larry Hohmann, and eleven grandchildren:

Angelo Francis Pagano, age 87, died at home on July 23, 2014. Mr. Pagano is predeceased by his beloved wife, Johanna "Joanie" Pagano and his son-in-law Richard Armstrong. He is survived by his four children and their spouses:
Mary Elizabeth Pagano, Patricia Armstrong, Al and Barbara Pagano and Vito and Kathleen Pagano. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren:
Angelo Pagano, John Pagano, Gina Pagano, Matthew Pagano, Kyle Pagano, Keri Armstrong (Scott Clark), Richard Armstrong II (Angel) and Melanie Armstrong Theis (Robert). Angelo grew up in Brooklyn, NY, the only son of Alfonso and Mary Colantuno Pagano. He had 7 loving sisters:
Elizabeth (Jerome Donella), Angelina (James Bruno), Rita (John Gorezney), Florence (Joseph Iurato), Delores (Salvatore Scuilla), Helen (George Chiarini) and Virginia Avino. He also has numerous nieces and nephews. After serving with the US Army in Italy during WWII, Angelo worked along side his father in the family plumbing business until 1967, when he moved to Hopewell and opened the Hopewell Village Market on Broad Street. Angelo retired in 1999. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 2 form 1:00-3:00 pm at Cromwell-Immordino Memorial Home 2560 Pennington Rd, Pennington, NJ 08534. YEP, THOMAS, 66, of Hillsborough, NJ (formerly of Phila), passed away on July 28, 2014. Survived by wife, Penny

George J. Koeser1923-2014
George J. Koeser, of Princeton, NJ, died July 13, 2014, of complications following a head injury. George was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia on July 21, 1923, the first son of Joseph and Anna Koeser. The Koesers left Prague in 1939, narrowly avoiding the German occupation of Czechoslovakia. The family lived in England and briefly in Brazil while awaiting their visas to America. George finished his secondary education at the Forest School outside London. Shortly after the Koesers arrived in New York City in January 1941, George studied at theUniversity of Michigan, where he earned a BS in Chemical Engineering. In 1944, he gave up his military deferment to serve in the US Army. He later earned his JD at Fordham University Law, while working as a freelance writer and translator. George raised two daughters with his first wife Victoria Koeser in Cranford, NJ. He worked as a patent attorney at Squibb Corporation for 32 years, and was also a vice president there from 1986 until his retirement. Since his early days, George was an enthusiastic and accomplished skier, reader, photographer and gardener. He taught his daughters to love film and live theatre, though he did not succeed in passing down his love of opera. He spoke five languages, and traveled six continents, for both business and pleasure. George wrote several novels, one published in the Czech Republic. George was pre-deceased by his second wife Sigrid Schmidt Koeser, brother John Koeser, nephew Bruce Koeser, and his dear Rhodesian Ridgeback Zora. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Rita Shannon Koeser of Princeton

Ellen Marie Polifko
Ellen Marie Polifko passed away on July 17, 2014 in Hillsborough, New Jersey at the age of 78. Ellen was born in Dallas, Pennsylvania to Charles William and Florence Mae Randall. Ellen was a graduate of St. Mary's High School and Nesbitt Memorial Hospital School of Nursing where she received her Diploma of Nursing. Ellen married and moved to New Jersey soon after graduation and worked as a Psychiatric Charge Nurse at Carrier Clinic, Assistant Head Nurse of Pediatrics at Somerset Medical Center, a nurse for a private doctor's office and then at Foot Hill Acres Nursing Home. At Foot Hill Acres she worked for almost forty five years as both Assistant Director of Nursing and Director of Medical Records. Ellen was an active member of the community and is one of the original members of the Hillsborough Women's Club where she served as both president and vice president. She has been a member of St. Joseph's Church for over fifty five years and volunteered in the local community. Ellen was an avid seamstress, loved to travel and lived in the house she designed and built over fifty years ago. Ellen is survived by her three children Karin, Lisa and David, her 5 grandchildren as well as her sister, Kathryn who lives in Courtdale, Pennsylvania. To honor her wishes, her cremation was private and no donations are requested. Cora W. Mathews, 93
Cora W. Mathews, 93, a former longtime resident of Mt. Airy, New Jersey died peacefully on Wednesday July 9, 2014 at the Emerald Bay Retirement Community in Cumberland, RI. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Stanley D. Mathews in 1999, at which time she relocated to Rhode Island. Cora was born, raised, and spent most of her adult life in Mt. Airy, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late Grover and Edna Williamson. She was one of eight children and often would fondly recall her childhood years growing up on the Williamson Dairy Farm with her siblings who became her lifelong good friends as well. Cora leaves two children:

The Rev. Dr. Michael Dana Prewitt, formerly of Hopewell NJ, died Saturday, July 12, 2014, at his home in Philadelphia, PA. Most recently he served as Interim Pastor of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Cumberland, RI and may be best known locally as founder of Dana Communications, a marketing and advertising firm, and Founding Pastor of Montgomery Ministries in Montgomery, NJ. Ruth Bergengren, 98
Ruth Bergengren Perkins, 98, of Princeton, NJ, and Blue Mountain Lake, NY, died peacefully at home in Princeton on July 7, 2014. Born in 1915 in Boras, Sweden, she was raised in a large dynamic family with four sisters and a brother. In 1939, she married Christian H. Aall, a Norwegian. They spent much of World War II in occupied Norway. In 1947, with their first two children, they moved to Anniston, AL. There, she opened a Swedish import store called Goodwin-Aall. The family also lived in Columbia, TN, and St. Louis, MO. They had two more children before settling in Princeton in 1956. For the past 15 years, she lived at Princeton Windrows. For many years, she served on the board of the American Scandinavian Foundation and the Princeton Symphony Orchestra. She was also active in the Princeton University Art Museum and the Garden Club of Princeton. She travelled widely and her adventures included climbing the 19, 340-foot Mount Kilimanjaro and writing her memoirs for her family on the shore of Italy's Lake Como. She loved her family and friends and combined a strong ability to get things done with a graciousness and sense of fun that was infectious, pulling together large formal events and small family parties with equal ease. She married twice, first to Dr. Aall and then to Dr. James A. Perkins, former president of Cornell University. She was the mother of four and stepmother of five. She is survived by her four children, Cecilia Mathews, Mea Kaemmerlen, Pamela Aall McPherson and Christian Aall

Zvi Eiref
Supporter of Charitable Causes Zvi Eiref, Princeton Business Leader and Supporter of Charitable Causes passed away on April 17, 2014 and was buried in Princeton Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of fifty years Catherine (Lindy) Eiref, his three sons Daniel, Ben, and Simon his six grandchildren and his brothers Michael and Jonathan Crystal and OdedOreff. Zvi's life journey was unusual. He was born in British Palestine in 1938 and Immigrated to Leeds, England in 1946 speaking no English. Within a decade he became one of the top law students at Oxford University (Christ Church College). He won a scholarship to do a Masters degree at the London School of Economics and a Fellowship to teach atthe University of Chicago Law School. In 1973 he brought his family to America. Zvi Eiref was an extraordinarily business leader. He spent the longest period of his career at Church and Dwight in Princetonwhere he served as Chief Financial Officer for over twenty years -- from 1979-1988 and again from 1995 to 2006. Zvi was deeply committed to the success of the company, its business and employees. Under his financial direction Church and Dwight grewfrom a small single product company known for its Arm and Hammer baking soda intoone of the leading global consumer packaged goods companies spanning cleaning, personal care, specialty chemical and other segments. Zvi helped steer the company through its growth into a multi-billion dollar business far outperforming most other publicly traded companies in America for many years. He was proud that each company share grew from the equivalent of seventy-five cents in 1979 to forty-three dollars when he left in 2006. Over this period the company become one of the largest employers in the Princeton area and contributed to the lives of thousands of employees. Zvi's other corporate leadership roles include Chief Financial Officer of Chanel, Incthe global fashion company, from 1988 to 1995, and Chief Financial Officer of Thomas Cook, one of the early pioneers in corporate travel in the late 1970's. He also worked for Unilever in Holland in the early 1970s.Towards the end of his career Zvi worked with several private equity firms investing in early stage consumer packaged goods companies and served on the boards of a number of companies in the consumer goods industry. Zvi was deeply committed to charity and public causes and provided decades of service to many groups in the community. Most recently he was on the board of the City Harvesta New York City based organization dedicated to feeding the ty's hungry men, women and children. He served on the oard of directors from 2008 to 2012 and was Treasurer of the board for several years. He played a key role in the Strategic Planning Committee and helped set the organization on a path to significant growth. In the first year of the plan City Harvest moved 29 million pounds of food to hungry New Yorkers. Zvi was involved with the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association, the Central New Jersey environmental group, for over thirty years. He served on the Board of Trustees for seven years, including four as treasurer, and on the organization's Advisory Board for five years thereafter. He is credited for helping guide smart land use policies in the Princeton area and providing a steady hand to guide the Watershed through the financial crisis in 2008. In the early 1990's Zvi served on the board of Orbis International, the flying eye hospital which treats needy patients in emerging countries around the World. He helped the organization avoid bankruptcy and put it on a path to longer term financial strength. Orbis is still in business today. Zvi was very active with the Princeton Township as a member of the zoning board and financial advisory committee and is credited with getting the University to pay a much larger and appropriate share of expenses to maintain civic services. Zvi was deeply committed to education, reading and travelfrom his earliest age and was a big inspiration to his family and friends in this regard. He often told of his hitchhiking trip around the United States in 1961. His family fondly remembers traveling with him around the US, to the great cities and countryside of England and Europe, the artefacts of Japan and central China, the hill towns of Mexico, Brazil and around the southern tip of South America from Chile to Argentina. Zvi was particularly fond of visiting Israel and maintained a close relationship with his family there. Zvi's had several local hobbies he was passionate about. He was the owner of Amwell Ridge Farm for over twenty years and co-owner of the Unionville Vineyard in Ringoes. He was particularly proud of its award winning Chardonnay. Zvi's family and friends drink a toast in memory of his incredible passion and life! Eiref
