GERTRUDE ZIMMERMAN, 87, of Brick died Dec. 12, 2002 in the Medical Center of Ocean County, Brick. Born in Highland Park, she moved to Brick 40 years ago. She was a registered nurse at Point Pleasant Hospital fro 1957 to 1987. She was a 72-year member of the Highland Park Order of the Eastern Star, and president of Eye Openers of Ocean County. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles, in 1985. Surviving are a daughter, Christine Bauerdorf of Point Pleasant; three granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren. Services were held at Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant. Interment was in Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.
ANGELA "NELL" SZAL FAJEN, 80, of Brick, died Dec. 3, 2002 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born and raised in Brooklyn, she lived in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn before moving to Brick in 1983. She was the office administrator in the theater and speech department at Brooklyn College for 10 years. She was an active member of Greenbriar II, involved in bowling, bingo and line dancing. She was a communicant of the Church of the Epiphany, Brick, and a member of the Magi. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, George Fajen, in 1994. Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert and Susan Fajen of Flemington, George Fajen Jr. of San Francisco, and William and Donna Fajen of Oceanside, Long Island, N.Y.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara and Dan Nieroda of Islip, N.Y., and Kathy Hardman of Manalapan; 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. O’Brien Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. A Mass was offered at the Church of the Epiphany,. followed by interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Long Island. MARY R. KORKES KLISIEWECZ, 89, of Brick died Dec. 3, 2002 at home. Born in Montville Township, she lived there and in Boonton her entire life before moving to Brick three years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church, and its Rosary Society, and a member of the Montville Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was predeceased by her husband, Roland P. Klisiewecz, in 1996. Surviving are two sons, Roland Jr. of Benson, N.C., and Joseph of Puyallup, Wash.; three daughters, Rosemarie Klisiewecz of Brick, Frances Pyles of Grafton, W. Va., and Patricia Caras of Haskell; a sister, Rose Oleinyk of Dover; two brothers, Andrew of Louisa, Va., and Stephen of Boonton; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church, Boonton. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.
LOUISE GIURANO RUMPF, 79, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died Dec. 10, 2002 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, Robert, died in 1987. Surviving are three daughters, Michele Kilian of East Brunswick, Marlena Wornowicz of Old Bridge and Claudia Kellert of Brick; a brother, Joseph Giurano of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and two grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge. Entombment was in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia section of Woodbridge. GLENN P. HARTDORN, 48, of Brick died Dec. 4, 2002 at home. Born in Newark, he lived in Point Pleasant before moving to Brick in 1978. He was a dairy manager for Grand Union/Stop & Shop in Brick. He was a member of U.F.C.W. Local 1262, Clifton, and was an avid fisherman, traveler, driver and boater. Surviving are his wife, Ruta Slepetys; his parents, George and Jean of Point Pleasant; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, David and Laura of Brick; Gary of Brick, and Trace and Pauline of Bayville, Berkeley; and his nephews and nieces. Services were held at Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant.
ALICE HERZOG, 82, of Brick died Dec. 4, 2002 in Medical Center of Ocean County, Brick. Born in Antwerp, Belgium, she lived in Chicago most of her life and in Mendham before moving to Brick 19 years ago. She attended St. Dominic’s Church for many years. She was predeceased by her husband, John Q. Herzog, in 1989. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Bob Matus of Sparta; and two grandchildren. Arrangements were under the direction of Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River.
ARTHUR O. JULIAN JR., 72, of Brick died Dec. 5, 2002 in Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Jersey City, he was raised in the Shore area and moved to Howell in 1964 and Brick in 2000. He was the owner/operator of A. Julian & Sons Fuel, Howell, for 25 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of the West Farms United Methodist Church, Howell. He was a U.S. Marine veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a charter member of the Pat Joyce Association, Wall. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Lodge 142, Neptune. He was also a member of the Ancient Order of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Trenton, Trenton, and the Crescent Shrine, Trenton. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Ann Julian; two sons, Arthur N. Julian of Calif. and Robert C. Julian of Brick; two daughters, Barbara L. Williams of Ky., and Karen A. Ballard of Calif.; three brothers, James Julian of Manasquan, Robert Julian of Neptune, and William Julian of Neptune City; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Arrangements were under the direction of C.H.T. Clayton & Son Funeral Home, Adelphia. Interment was in Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in his memory to either West Farms United Methodist Church Building Fund, 153 Casino Drive, Farmingdale, 07727, or to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, 1645 West Eighth St., Erie, PA 16505.
